I like how the display is 2 columns too narrow to display the messages without wrapping :P.
Also, really neat. I got into the Internet in the late 90s [dating this based around how much time I remember before Google even existed, my memory is terrible with years], so I never did the BBS thing.
I use to love being on the old Commodore BBS boards..I wrote a assembly language terminal program for a local BBS yrs ago...it's amazing how much functionality u can get in the small amount of ram the old computers like the vic 20 c-16 and c-64 had...the terminal software writer should have asked for the user's computer type so the screen could be formatted properly
Wow, this brings back SO many memories. It was such a thrill to hook up and use my 300 baud modem - I waiting almost a YEAR for it! Puget Sound ADAM Users Group were our friends for so many years. And Fidonet -- how I loved it!
My first computer was actually an Adam ... I just remember them being total piles of shit. We must have gone through three of them in the space of a month before we finally ditched it completely and got an Apple //c. That badboy is actually still sitting in the closet.
Cool thing about the Adam though was that it played Colecovision games. Yeah!
@yorick8080 Ours too. At first we probably returned the printer twice and the SmartBasic tape 3 times, but after that settled down, I became hooked. Theres still an Adam Coleco users group active today!
When do you actually get to do something on this BBS..? I have a working ADAM and ADAMLink software/modem, so if any of you know of a WORKING BBS number, lemme know.
I see you were using the ADAMLink software. I used MADAM7 that ran under CP/M because it supported xmodem file transers while ADAMLink didnt. There were some good ADAM BBS's in the 416 Area code. Fidonet and Canada Remote Systems had online ADAM files for download. I recall upgrading to a 1200 baud modem and it was too fast for the ADAM, it kept dropping characters.
I had read about CP/M as a kid but never had the experience. Xmodem? I dont think AdamLink had any provision for even saving logs to disk, which is fortunate or else this betamax 'screen capture' wouldn't have happened. Cheers.

Funny, tried to use my ADAMlink modem a couple weeks ago; either i was using it incorrectly, or it doesn't work.

This must have been 1986, not 85, as the text mentions Space Shuttle disaster which I'm guessing refers to Challenger in Jan '86!

I dated this video based on the 'New Coke' comment, but I guess you're absolutely right!

Very cool vids though-- wish I'd have thought to videotape some of the stuff I did on the Adam and other systems back in the day! :)
