Nacio Herb Brown wrote an earlier song called The Doll Dance (1926 or 1927) that sounds very much like this song along with a few others. Nice video too. With youtube, she doesnt have to be remembered just as mommie dearest.
glad to hear this. when my grandpa died i got this song in my head. i hummed it to my mom, and she said he used to sing it around the house when she was growing up and that it was one of his favorites. he never sang it around me that i remember, but i looked for it everywhere and found it in a bargain bin for $1 in a collection by bing crosby. lovely song! wish popular music sounded like this today!
