the way the Schlindler lifts are roped is known as 2:1 roping and is common throughout most lifts. it's designed to make the load easier on the motor thus allowing the lift to be bigger and still obtain the traction required.

The fire exit door at 7:25 leads to the fire exit next to boots and the créche by the bus stop.

I guess the reason why the stairs to the lower mall are not with these ones is because if there was a fire people would accidently go on to the lower mall which that part is underground and has no exit to outside

Did you ever consider film making professionally? Maps, commentary, animations! Well done! What editing software do you use?

0:45 - This is done so that the load inside the lift car can be greater (if there are 5 cables in a traditional format, there would be 10 in your video - can handle heavier load). Also, I believe the accuracy of the lift leveling is better as the sheave has to turn more, and there is more scope to achieve better accuracy.

Talking of Bromley, I remember in the early 90s, on the radio there was a news story about "The Mall shopping centre in Bromley, a person was killed when part of a lift shaft collaped". I actually visited there a few months after - didn't find anything unusual though.

@mrmattandmrchay That is quite worrying as I remember seeing some one sitting under the stairs in the Mall however there was no way of getting in to there as it had a fence around it. There is a different lift and stairs there now
