i discovered today that my betta fish was having trouble swimming to the top for air so i lowered the water level to his mouth so all he would have to do is move his head above the surface to get air. his fins are bad. color is gone. i know he's dying i wish i could help him. ive had him for 1 year my cousin had him before me i think for two years. betta only live for about 3-4 years. she gave him to me for christmas. christmas is coming back around in a couple of days. me and my fish had the

@itsxjustxanotherxcut Neons don't do well alone - they prefer to swim around in shoals. I don't think a betta would eat or bully a neon, because they don't look like bettas and they're too big to eat.

that is so adorable. i have a betta fish its a boy and i can hand feed him but he woulnt llet me hold him. but he does go on the side of the tank that i am on if he gets scared. i had a toy lion on one side of the tank my betta didnt like it and he swam over to me. betta fish ROCKS!!!!

My betta is also like that! Lives with other fish (endler guppies!!) very friendly fish! Bettas can be very calm.

He always jumps out of the water when I give food to him and put my hand over the tank. I love him! You can see him at my videos with other fish.

I had a betta like that once, my first female Mei =) she was the sweetest thing, ther ewas one point I was trying to take out one of the sorority girls because I wanted to look at something on her fin and was having trouble netting her. I was pulling out the net and before I knew it, Mei had leaped INTO the net! And didn't seem to be spazing either was just sorta like 'oh hai thar' XD it was the funniest thing ever! Cory doras catfish, nerite snails, and african dwarf frogs are your safest bet. Other species you risk nipping fins of the Betta or downright attacking/killing them, or they have very different preferences in water hardness/temperature/current than Bettas.

This video is much cuter then the one that have owners peting(more like rubbing to death) their bettas that are living in a small glass the size of a coffee cup claiming their fish is loving it when he's actualy flaring. Yours on the other hand, seems to love you and as long as your hands are clean yet soap free It shouldn't harm him ^^ keep up the good work!

@moglover1227 The reason bettas are kept by themselves a lot of the time is not to protect the other fish, but to protect the betta from having his fins nipped. They are quite peaceful, indeed shy, towards the great majority of community fish.

After seeing this video I have a feeling that the blue bettas are naturally smarter and much more friendly. I have an almost identical betta at home and I have trained him to swim around my finger for food. I have also trained him to get along with other fish. A swordtail lives with him in bowl and sometimes the betta will gently rest over the other fish, almost as if he's protecting him. Bettas are an amazing fish, and lots of fun. If you treat them right!
