Any stereotyping that can be done about people in Pennsylvania's small towns is sadly, for the most part, very true. Especially in places like the coal region (take a trip to a little place called Shamokin, PA if you'd like to see some shining examples of the trash this region produces). People here are religious to the point that they don't let their children read Harry Potter, and at that point you might as well just admit that you're part of a cult, not a religious community.
I've grown up (and still live in) a VERY small town in east central PA, around 5,000 people, 2 and 1/2 hours from Philadelphia. With all the extreme ignorance and small-mindedness, it's pretty much like living in the deep south, except with far less black people so you're left with atrociously stupid, sheltered, trashy white people that insist that they're radically religious and republican views are actually relevant in today's world. There's a reason its nickname is Pennsyltucky.

I've been to PA.a few times and was there last month visitng Hershey Park.Really loved the zoo there.I was impressed with Harrisburg and parts of Bethlehem are really nice.I had gone to the Amish area many years ago inc.Gettysburg.
