  • Wow this gives me goosebumps every time i listen to it *Hail Satan*

  • I'm an atheist so i don't quite care for the imagery but it's still such a good song.

  • an absolutely electrifying performance on an old classic !

  • I'm still not fully convinced this wasn't a sketch on SNL. This is a joke right?

  • I am a devoted enough fan to travel 2,000 miles to her see her perform at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago in late Feb. 2012. I've been waiting to see her live since Plague Mass. SO EAGER to finally see her perform!

  • TE AMO DIAMANDA

  • idiot filter is a good idea...

  • Goddessssss.....

  • She can make those keys on the piano talk

  • I have only just heard of her. I can't say she's like anything I have ever seen or heard. Singular talent.

  • i have sexual attractions toward her

  • i love her. she is a goddess to me.

  • <3

  • shes a little bit like nina hagen= or she reminds me a little bit only bit darker

  • Diamanda is easily one of the finest finest musicians of her generation. Queerness, darkness, and disease have nothing to do with it.

  • she absolutely terrifies me...and i love every second of it. watching her sing live like this, with the same throat and mouth we all have and yet so superior in her execution and performance, is like watching a Michael Jordan highlight reel. you could try to imitate it but never even come close. she makes selena gomez look like a yelping pug.

  • She is so amazing..

  • She reminds me of my dear sister.... :)

  • Holy shit she's creepy!

  • Grande Diamanda you r amazing !!

  • Wow! Amazing range and power reminds me of Tom Waits in a way it's great to hear someone do their own thing and let's face it she's stunning if a little frightening lol!

  • Most nice looking witch/woman of the world ...she almoust looks like a spanisch-tango dancer....You must be certain of the devil was my first record from her i bought...its timeless. and still fascinating...if u dont like this leave your comment for yourself u are only one click away to visit the usual shit....BYE

  • god i love her

  • I want her to be my mom

  • Is that mortica addams?

  • She's about as handy as a pickpocket in a nudist camp.

  • There should be an idiot filter on youtube comments. What's the matter, to much of a woman for you?

  • Ez egy kibaszott őrült...

  • psycho!

  • @angeliki1994 LMAO!

  • Просто - Великая! Символ безумного (но прекраного) ХХ века...

  • Spoort zij wel?

  • incredibly absurd pathos and crooked fingers - LOL

  • Α ρε πατριωτισσα..............

    Αξεπεραστη...

  • This is a great song! congratulations !!!! XD

Is my favorite song by Diamanda...

  • f***k her

  • my favorite transgendered artist

    bravo!!

  • @mode30 hate to break it to ya but she's all woman. google images of diamanda galas/annie leibovitz & look for a woman on a cross and tell me if you have ever seen a man with hips like that. some of us women are just very masculine by nature, womb and all.

  • transwoman can have hips too ...........

  • @DorianDietrichBlog LMAO! INDEED INDEED! :)

  • @mode30 get your facts straight!!

  • Intense and dramatic performance ! I love it !!!

  • Like bit like Patti Smith and Randy Newman had a baby...who then became posessed.

  • Like bit like Patti Smith and Randy Newman had a baby...who became posessed.

  • /watch?v=tXKHjQ07QDs

  • Immortal soul.

She cuts you deep and eats you alive.

There is no one like her.

  • why does she constantly sing about the devil?

    its a little... suspicious?

  • @lailamykle I feel you. Maybe she's in the illuminati Lol

  • Just found out about her. I'm completely addicted to these videos.

I tried to show to other people, but it seems finding "Galas people" will be nearly impossible.

I understand why most people would hate it, but quite disappointed that some friends I have, who love alternative music, can't see any merit in her work............... :(

It seems what a bloke said here in Youtube is true, only other musicians and queers really get her.... I'm a singer and I'm blown away.

  • @mchelo18 I loved her version of this song. I went to see her in concert in Chicago and met in her in the mid 90's.

  • @mchelo18 If you haven't already... check out some of Nina Simone's live stuff.... sort of up the same street. I'm a Simone nut... and like you say, it's hard to find others who get it. Galas reminds me a little of Patti Smith also, who I'm pretty crazy about too!

  • @yellingelk

hey thanks, I know both Nina and Patti, Patti is my idol. My love for her only grows and grows, particularly after reading her great book.

  • @yellingelk I think she reminds more of PJ Harvey, especially with this outfit

  • @mchelo18 So if I'm not a musician, and like her stuff, that makes me a fucking queer. Well let it be, for the sake of music

  • @northfromheree

Being a queer transcends being gay or straight. ;) Let's settle with the word "freak" then.

  • @mchelo18 I'm a Galas person! From the first time I heard her!! ( like 44467 years ago). I've been lucky enough to see her performing live and I went through the roof!!

  • @mchelo18 I'm no singer, just a music lover, and Diamanda is incredible. That voice is other worldly.

Some people just aren't open minded to things that fall outside of what's 'normal'.

  • @mchelo18 I don't it's just like that queers and musicians only like her, that IS bullshit. The only thing needed is more sensitiveness. Queers like musicians are people, that's all that takes to like her: being a (proper) human being

  • @utubeleplague

people take things too literally these days.

  • @utubeleplague

people take things too literally these days

  • @mchelo18 Shit,I'm not a musician!Does that mean i'm a queer and i haven't realized it yet? :P

  • @mchelo18

I am a "Galas person"! I think it is because I have always had a fascination with Goth, and Diamanda is like a dark operatic diva. She's an amazing singer and beautifully intense.

  • @mchelo18 complex meanings take complex minds to figure them out dude.

  • @mchelo18 I love Her too. My boyfriend show me Diamanda's songs and I had reeps immediately. And I'm not a singer ;)

  • @mchelo18 a belated comment here, but i think she is kinda hot

  • @mchelo18 I'm not musician and i'm not queer, but I love her! My friends can't understand why i love her...

  • God she's.. I found her a bit frightening at first. But now i'm so deeply in love with her. Her spirit, her passion. WAOW!

  • She's a genius

  • As powerful as Galas' voice is, I never really felt she understood or knew how to convey emotions particularly well. She just screams, really

  • @dcjcjr Really? Have you listened to Plauge Mass? The emotion she conveys is almost overwhelming. You'd have to be heartless not to be moved by it.

  • Fantastic performance!

Does anyone know if it's possible to get this performance on a record?

I like this one much better than the performance she does on the record.

  • i always thought of diamanda gala beeing somewhat pornographic. inflating & overacting things that otherwise could come from the heart ...

but then: what the hell, it's showbuiz-time.

  • @ctrlzjones Pornographic? How?

  • @Shikihyrogashi

well, as i said: inflating & overacting. i could have said artificializing. or: kitsch. too much & too exposed. of course music is based on feelings, but the thing is to find the right amount of scream in his sound.

but on the other hand i love to attend Peter Brötzman concerts. and he is way more out then D.G. still i find him and his sound being more truthful, more real.

    i rarely find pornomovies&peepshows exiting.

but that's just me. other people do. & that's great.

  • @ctrlzjones well, actually pornography doesn't inflate,it empties. Also there's no overacting in pornography,if anything there's underacting, and a lot of it.You have gotten this thing all wrong. You have found someone who is more truthful and more real than DG.Congratulations.

Her art is crazy, out there, huge feelings, not easy to digest and FLAWED.It's supposed to be so and we love it."too much and too exposed"That's EXACTLY what it is!!

Uhmmm..."The right amount of scream''?What the fuck is that?

  • @goeatroadkill

interesting, this underacting line ... i just loocked it up: "act a part in a film in an overly restrained or unemotional way" ... that doesn't describe the performance of most porn actors.

and yes, i believe you can empty a feeling inflating the expressions: if you say "i love you" too often, cry too much, scream too loud, you will loose credibility.

but i admit that some people need a hammer on their head sometimes (me included) to feel something. i just don't like kitsch.

  • @ctrlzjones when somebody’s saying “I love u” too many times maybe that’s because they actually DO love you too much.”Some people need a hammer in the head to feel something”Right genius, emotional cripple us,cant feel a thing unless theres overacting and screaming.About underacting in porn:when u’re supposed to show feelings of deep pleasure & lust and u just lay there moaning ridiculously, well in MY book that’s UNDERACTING.”KITSCH”?Oh dear...please stay away from the keyboard,u’re killing me.

  • @ctrlzjones So,u looked it up?oh,good for u.what else does the book say?whats the right amount of cries, screams and “I love u”s for an artist so he/she doesn’t lose credibility?would u call the actors of Greek tragedies overactors?DG just stays loyal to the subject matter. How the HELL can u overact about death, madness, genocide and epidemics?don’t make me laugh. Its obvious u’re immune to severe emotions and greatness in general.DG =X-rated:adult situations:the real thing:pussies keep away, get it?

  • @goeatroadkill

good. enjoy your flight and maybe, one day, you'll stop insulting people who have a different angle on the things in the world (one of them being: art) than you. that could be a start for having a conversation about suffering and misery.

as i said: i don't like being shout at.

  • @ctrlzjones So,when someone proves you wrong, you feel insulted? That's cute. The fact that you're out of arguments and you just go "stop insulting me" amuses me.Well, since it's my flight,I'll enjoy it and I'd like you to shut the hell up,you're in the wrong flight and you're boring the shit out of everyone.

  • dark spiritual. eternal

  • she is perfect.........i love her.

  • she is perfect.........i love her.

  • i love her.just awesome

  • And talk about beautiful. Even her withered corpse will be fucking lovely..

  • she is awfully wonderful............

  • the bass notes at the end...haha :D

  • I love her, I love her voice...

  • Diamanda is geniously talented!!!! I bow my head to her!!!!

  • CONTROL THE DAMN VIBRATO!!!!!! ugh what is this wanna-be prima donna doing sounding like a goat being shaken while it somehow speaks english!!

  • @quinntissentialmusic That IS control. What the hell are you talking about? You don't like how she's singing? Okay, I'll give you that! But there's nothing wrong with her fucking vibrato. You don't like how she's RESONATING/PROJECTING her voice. Big difference.

  • @madsketcher With the projection, listen to any prima donna in any opera (I prefer Puccini operas) or even rock like Janis Joplin or even pop like Christina Aguilera and they use th projection to there advantage while with galas, it seems like overkill and a hindrance. With resonation and control, just listen to any coloratura soprano do an aria, like Joan Sutherland doing the "Mad Scene" and with that, if compare how they handlethemselves to how galas cntrols her voice, it seems unstable

  • @quinntissentialmusic It's common knowledge that she studied bel canto for years and made her debut as an opera singer. It's not unstable, just caustic.

  • @madsketcher good points, i especially like the caustic (especially if she's trying to mimic a persona), after listening to the song about 10 times, I admit, it suits, but I still think it's a tad overkill, but then itj ust becomes subjective. I'll just agree to disagree about diamanda galas. Thanks for the infos and opinions :3 I'm always looking to learning more and more about music since it will be my career. Thanks again!

  • @quinntissentialmusic Diamanda was into/did sing opera.

  • Great!

  • The only credit I will give her is that she can play piano really well, other than that she sounds like she is choking

  • @pootbaby sweet looord! watch your mouth! you might say that YOU don´t like her music... but you shuldnt dare to say that she cant sing, since she has one of the most powerful voices of the world... even better than Callas... 3 and 1/2 octaves!! bite it!

  • You're amazing Diamanda!

    You go,girl.

  • @goeatroadkill Ok first off that's wrong there is nothing wrong with Kylie Minogue. There is nothing wrong with Diamanda. The other person just doesn't have any taste in music at all. Let's no knock other artists.
