The rythms of this piece of yours are giving me a hard time, but it's such a great feeling when I can finally play them:) I'm on page 3 now, but I always have to come back here to listen to it and hear how it should sound :D
I have it for more than a year now, but it was so out of shape when I got it that it stood for months in my room before I could get it tuned at last. Anyway, this piece needs more practice before I dare to play it on video, but this last year I tried to improve my composing skills by studiing other's compos and using their methods in my ones, and when I tried it in your style, this was my sample, I'm planning to surprise you with that one. (I used your tricky rythms:P)
@blackratsnakes I have it for more than a year now, but in the beginning I could only watch it, because it was totally out of tune... But now it's great and I finally took the time to make some scores, I remember you liked Zakiel's tale, i'll send it to you when it's ready! (I see your thumbs are are not okay, but I hope you can play it, it's not a finger breaking piece:)
yes please, I still love Zakiel's tale so I would be honored to get that score from you. As you noted I can only play a little, maybe a song or two every other day because of the thumbs but I will still try to learn it.
Though I prefer "March of the Wounded", this one's still solid, with chords and harmonies you don't hear every day. It has a nice thick sound that matches the title appropriately. I give this one 4/5.
"March of the Wounded" has been a pleasant surprise for me with all the good feedback. This was the first video I posted of original stuff. I say it's the most fun to play becauase it keeps my fingers busy the whole time :) Thanks for your feedback.
ive been playing for 8 years and im definitely not nearly as good as you. I wish I could play like you do. Or compose like you do. Everything I compose ends up just being boring.
Thanks for the compliments. Have you tried posting any of your originals and maybe get some constructive criticism on them? You never know, what's boring to you might be interesting to someone else.
hey... i finally figured out how to upload a video. and I tried playing yours and I also put one of my own on as well. It seems as though I play yours a lot faster than you do, and I also mess up a lot more... but check it out :-)
7 or 8 years, seems like I should be better than I am. I can't sight-read so I'm down to memorizing. Hey when you create your own stuff, it seems more impressive sometimes. Glad you liked it.
yup still loving this song :) haha i want to buy your cd i'll see what i can do :D it's hard to play your songs haha :x i'm not very good at piano even after a decade of playing :/
I bet you're good, sometimes it's just a matter of getting used to a particular style. Everyone kind of has their own style and I bet if you composed a song it would be difficult for someone else to play.
Thank you. You are pretty talented yourself - your voice and guitar. Ever consider writing your own songs? You should try it. Expressing your creative side is very satisfying :)
I will have it ready later tonight or by tomorrow but one thing: It's accurate as it was done using software but the aesthetic look of it might have something to be desired on this piece. It's up to me to bar notes and do other things so it might be hard to follow and there are a lot of time changes but other than that it's correct :) If you'd like it just send a message to my youtube inbox and include your email address.
Thank you, and it just became available on Amazon, still waiting for it on iTunes. On Amazon you can search by my name and or album title "Fred Nimmerfroh" - "Off The Beaten Path".
did you make like a story with all these songs? i mean, awakening storm, midnight, opening night... i have a friend who plays piano too and he does something like that. it would be great to be soundtrack of a story, a poetry or stuff
Didn't really try to make a story but I notice some of the titles could fit together like you mentioned. I'm looking into getting good recordings somehow that maybe I can get on iTunes or Amazon someday but that may take awhile. Thanks for checking my vids out :)
Thanks for checking my vids out. The peanuts song is definitely the most popular and a lot of fun to play. I hope you do learn it and maybe post your own videos someday :)
wow.. your hands are fluid. truly beautiful!! Thanx to you, i have the encouragement to learn how to play the Moonlight Sonata and The Peanuts Theme Song! Thanx again, love your music. amazingly original and emotional.
That helped and if you don't mind if I ask another question:
Do you ever have times when you have a great idea in your head, but you just can't get that idea into notes and actually play in on the piano? I have this problem right now and it's annoying me. I just can't get it down right! It always ends up...boring. Lol, but that is what it sounds like right now, boring.
Yes I know exactly what you mean. This is why I usually don't think of a tune and try to translate it on a piano. It doesn't work too well for me. I gotta play and create, play and create.
That's what I try to do now, but it's just so stuck in my head, I feel like I just have to get it down on the piano! But I'm trying to stop that feeling now.
Also, do you have any tips on the left hand? I've been watching so many different pianists play and they all have something in common, but others differ from one another. Is there ever a set rule, or is it just a style you gradually make? If so, what would you do about these styles? Any tips?
Hey Igloo, somehow I missed your comment earlier. This is my favorite original to play. When I'm not recording myself I get all head-bangy with it if I have a lot of energy. That would look pretty silly here though. Thanks for stopping in as always =]
Thanks. I usually don't have much of an idea or even think "I'm gonna sit down and write this kind of tune today", it's usually a matter of messing around and suddenly I come up with a riff that sounds intriguing so I start to build on that until eventually it forms the base of the song. Then I add to it and try to make it complete. I don't compose the hands separately, always together. Hope that helped and thanks for the comment about the piano too!
Absolutely adore this!!! I swear I've listened to it like 50 times ;_________; It's just that good ^-^ I can't believe not many have seen this... Oh well I'm so putting this in my Vlog next to Kyle Landry ;)
Wow, love the enthusiastic thumb's up. This is my favorite original to play, hard to explain, just a lot of fun. Well by you viewing it, that's one more person that's seen it. Thanks!
Very nicely done. Might want to add some more significant crescendos and decrescendos and/or tempo changes, and near the end, it kinda gets cluttered. You play very well. Try to get it published.
I've already written this to "Midnight", but it also true to all of your compositions: YOUR SONGS ARE SO DINAMIC! They're full of life, never get boring. Congrats!
Still beautiful and one of my very favorites...after 4 years!!! :o)
