Oh My God; I knew nothing of this Act. I was laid off from a Public School System along with 4 other people on 8/25/10. One lady has /had, I am not sure of her current status cancer. The Department also receives Federal Funding. Medical for all stopped 30 days within time. I was on the job for 21 years. How do I get more information about this? Oh yes, we were laid -off without notice!!!

"Fair" has nothing to do with it. In the prosperous years post-WW II into the 70's, people could expect long-term employment at the same companies with pensions for the rest of their lives. That has all been dismantled and destroyed. America today is nothing but a stagnating, floundering cesspool, all productivity sent offshore.

I was going to reply with an insult back, but then I read the rest of your comment after "Poor stupid deluded americans" and realized that you are absolutely right.

Too many people here have had it so much better than in most of the world, so much better that they take things for granted. Heck, having clean water and a roof over your head is almost a privilege when compared to most 3rd world countries, but no one here would think twice about it.

you dont just decide one day to close up shop. The employer should have let his employees know that there were troubles and that they could lose their jobs.

He even let them work when he knew he wouldnt be able to pay them, when they could have been looking for jobs elsewhere.
