@JESUSISGREATEST you can't deny history. btw, the japanese had to be powerful to be able to take this part of china (as well as other places like korea and southeast asia) so your argument is invalid.
@JESUSISGREATEST This movie is base on facts, some parts might have been exaggerated but it's true in the past not japanese that took over that region can win IP man in a fist fight.
@VIPMediEvil3VIP Actually, it's a mistake they oversaw. The clinging sounds make it seem like it's metal, but if you look at it, you see it's a wooden stick. Also see the bending of the stick at 3:18.
@VIPMediEvil3VIP um no it's clearly made of bamboo or wood. The metallic sound is only there for sound effects. Technically he never hits the sword edge, only the flat side of the blade and does so deviating the trajectory of the blade rather than blocking the full force of each strike, often hitting it before there's actually much force at all behind the strike. And of course, it IS after all a movie in case the above information isn't sufficient justification XD
swords dont cut as easily as movie make them out to be, u need a good solid hit to actually cut or pierce thing with them, and youll notice that IP didnt actually take any sword hits from it, he just deflected them
@doomsy Technically he never hits the sword edge, only the flat side of the blade and does so deviating the trajectory of the blade rather than blocking the full force of each strike, often hitting it before there's actually much force at all behind the strike. And of course, it IS after all a movie in case the above information isn't sufficient justification XD
@doomsy I only started understanding this sort of thing when I started training in nin jitsu and wing chun. It is fascinating when you do understand but you won't see me going against a sword with a feather duster anytime soon... fuck that I'm not that confident XD
@VIPMediEvil3VIP That's where you're dead wrong already. They all are equals since they have all survived to gain fame amongst people like us. The mountain does not laugh at the river for its lowliness and neither does the river mock the mountain for its immobility.
And for the record, Aikido is a budo(way of life, of peace, of love) it was never for fighting.
@VIPMediEvil3VIP well True on all martial arts and fighting styles. I've been in Aikido for 2 years, and any martial art is great, depending on how you use it in a fight and with you're timing. Aikido at first was based on Samurai Training of the Sword at first, Second: the staff, after later on in modern time: Hand to Hand mostly now. Even Toshiro Suga (7th Dan) agrees with me on that one (Trained with him last summer it was hell but worth it).
@Commendor1337 "The mountain does not laugh at the river for its lowliness and neither does the river mock the mountain for its immobility"...That's some deep metaphoric shit bro!
Shame on you, I say. You should not judge, who are you to say what is better and what is not? All martial arts are equally valid in their own ways, and for you to say one is better than the others is for a small child to say that his toy is better than everybody else's.
And besides, what is "better" is such an incredibly subjective thing: saying something about it almost always makes you a hypocrite.
@teachmekungfu Also spelt ving tsun by some... wing chun is i think a westernized spelling but i cbf googling it at this time to be 100% accurate on this
Funny Kung Fu movies require wires and over the top moves, unreal coreography to look cool, yet Tona Jaa's Muy Thai is very realistic (he actually makes contact for most of the moves in his movies) and much more practical. This is fun to watch but not realistic.
I can appreciate this, most of the fighters in the old Mortal Kombat movie and even the Big Boss with Bruce Lee has a lot of good martial artists, but the fact that a punch can make a guy do a backflip or doing an aerial over someones head about 10 ft in the air or blocking 3 guys at a time doing the same hammer fist over and over is not very realistic.
It's funny when the kid comes out & says "Dad, Mom says: If you don't start attacking instead of defending, soon everything will be broken." So we know who the REAL master of kung fu is and nobody want's to piss her off. It's like " I'm the King and I have the final say..... Whatever you say dear".
@milesj72781 I found the subs apparently it's just an .srt file that has to have the same name as the movie and in the same folder then you play the movie and subs come up!
@dafirenze921 Donnie Yen is playing the roll of Ip Man, but anyway if you watch the 1st and 2nd part of the fil Ip Man (Ip Man, Ip Man 2) you will know what ever you wanna know about the Wing Chun style and etc.
And it saddens me that people are so caught up with styles and fail to distinguish between artistic purposes, sport and self-defense (even though there is overlap).
