The way Twice Over got caught paddling at the end of this race, with Sri Putra making a really big late run at him. Twice Over was extremely lucky that Mawatheeq didn't go into the starting gates for the Eclipse on this day. Because Sri Putra nearly ran Twice Over down. If it had been Mawatheeq thundering home at Twice Over? I believe there would've been a different outcome to this race. Mawatheeq has a powerful closing kick. Look at the Cumberland Lodge Stakes as an example. JMO.
There seems to be some patent race horses suffering from a total lack of race fitness in 2010. There's no way Dar Re Mi should have been outrun by Sri Putra and Viscount Nelson in the Eclipse. No way that Spanish Moon should have been outrun by Sans Frontieres, Redwood, and Tazeez in the Princess of Wales. Zacinto finished last in the Lockinge Stakes. 4th in the Queen Anne. Finished last again in the Eclipse. Then finished 5th in the listed Pomfret Stakes at Ponterfact. The 3 aren't race fit IMO

the jockey went for home way too early, he was lucky to get away with it..
its a long way up that sandown hill... obviously he was the best horse in the race
but its all about timing, and judging how much horse you have left under you in relation to the others. it was a poor field though in all fairness.
