@mikethetallguy Why being so rude? No swimmer selects himself for a relay, the coach does. We can't blame Bernard for that. Second, swimmers do have ups and downs. And the older they get the slower they become. But I still love to watch guys like Schoeman, Lezak and Frölander compete against the younger guys. Respect for their efforts and all the training they do to achieve this.

are pro pools colder than normal ones? i think they are because they have to wear those diving suits to keep them nice and warm. actually, i know they don't swim in hot pools lol. (because of the diving suits) ;)

i actually can't get in to a pool in under 48 seconds, but i know why they wear those 'diving suits' it's in case they get in to trouble and start drowning, it would take too long to get a diving outfit on to save them, so they have everything on already, but the diving helmet (they'd look stupid swimming in helmets too lol)

im much better in short sprints such as the 100m free in long course, but kinda suck at them in short course. cuz my turn it self sucks lol. so i swim good long distance events such as the 500. i go 5.00
Yeah, I swim MUCH better sprints off the relay start, just because I love chasing people down and know that I have 3 other guys relying on me to not suck.
and relay splits are always faster because on a regular start you have the reaction time from when the thing beeps to when you dive, and on a relay start you time it exactly to when the other guy touches the wall.

that's quite impressive, i can't even get in to the pool in under 47.60 secs. i lower myself in really slowly because it's too cold! ☹
are pro pools colder than normal ones? i think they are because they have to wear those diving suits to keep them nice and warm. actually, i know they don't swim in hot pools lol. (because of the diving suits) ;)

the question is serious, but everything else isn't, silly.
i actually can't get in to a pool in under 48 seconds, but i know why they wear those 'diving suits' it's in case they get in to trouble and start drowning, it would take too long to get a diving outfit on to save them, so they have everything on already, but the diving helmet (they'd look stupid swimming in helmets too lol)
if they are drowning they throw them a diving helmet to save them, it fits on to their swimming suits :)

and relay splits are always faster because on a regular start you have the reaction time from when the thing beeps to when you dive, and on a relay start you time it exactly to when the other guy touches the wall.

Like it or not, trash talking is a major part of sports. Let's face it, if Bernard hadn't opened his mouth, I don't think that the U.S. relay team would've found it in them to beat France. I think that having someone dump on you actually motivates you more to prove them wrong. Either way, what's done is done, and he at least lived up to his promise of taking gold in the 100m.

Thing is that the medias, either from France or USA, always say shit, no matter what's the subject.
They always exaggerate what they hear. Let's take a simple example: a PSP developper is about to create a new Custom Firmware. In one of his news, he says that it's nearly done. One hour after, on of the PSP websites write in super big title: "The new Custom Firmware is coming TOMORROW!".
Things like that are present everyday now...
As for me, I still don't think that Alain Bernard said that.

you are the type of American I actually hate saying you saved the world twice, well welcome to the party pal it was 1914 - 1918 not 1917-18 by then the allies had lost millions of men women and equipment, same in world war 2, 1939-45 not 41-45, again by then so much was lost so no wonder you think you saved the world as you still had a large population to go fighting where Britain and allies had been reduced. Aussiephil99 and others: Please stop this nonsense about WWII. During the war, a lot of civilians and soldiers stood up and fought like heroes for the sake of freedom. Yes, we asked for help at some point, but we were never cowards and we never surrendered.
As for the 4x100 relay, Bernard made a mistake and Americans won. They fought hard and got the gold. We'll try harder next time!
