The Sigg Tourist pans comes in aluminum (usual) or stainless steel (a little rarer). 123 older, low simmer better, have to take apart to clear a clog, 1 moving part. 123R newer, still being made, simmers not as well, declogs by turning the knob, 2 moving parts.
Respond to this video... I have all the SIGG sets, 123, Coleman and Camping Gaz. I like the 123's and 123r's, I have a few in my collection, ten or twelve maybe, good stoves and with these sets they are fantastic. Beware the stainless steel Sigg tourist sets, a lot are clone sets from the far east.
Colin Fletcher was right about a lot of things. His wisdom was bought with hard won experience Tens of thousands of miles. I always recommend people read the Complete Walker at least twice.
I bought my first Svea in the late sixties, and after forty years of camping, I have never owned any other camping stove. I'm on my third one. I'm looking for the Sigg. They're hard to find. All in all, best portable camp stove ever made. Recommend using Coleman fuel. White gas is risky.
Rik...this is North61 from the stove forum. I finally picked one of these up with a mini-pump and I can't imagine a better combination. Even in the winter the efficiency of this combination of stove and cook set is unbeatable. The little stove is fuel efficient, fast and charming. Great snow melter. My more powerful Firefly and Optimus 111's are getting more and more neglected. Maybe Colin Fletcher was right?!!!
Best price on 123R. Ebay $85 free ship.

It uses an Optimus 123 pressure stove, runs on Coleman fuel

What does it run on? I have something similar that runs on methylated spirits.
