I see you have about as much tolerance for that which you find annoying, irritating, or just plain don't like, as I do for the incessant clinking and clanging of a thoughtless neighbor's windchimes. Yes, I find it VERY interesting and amusing that you blocked me from making any further comments about windchimes! Well, fair enough, afterall it is your page.
Now if only blocking unwanted sounds from my home and yard was as easy as hitting a key on a keyboard ;-)
@LadyAnne52 I find it VERY interesting and amusing that someone who hates windchimes so much has nothing better to do than sit around and watch videos about windchimes on YouTube. Funny.
Wind chimes are one of the most natural and therapeutic methods of relaxation you can find that's been used for many millenniums; It's a form of sound therapy, and perhaps depending on the size even vibration therapy, both of which can have profound effects on relaxed a person is, if they let the sound take them away. It's no different than a person blasting their music. If you can't respect wind chimes for what they are, then that's your loss!
Octivarium, with all due respect, anyone who hangs a musical instrument in her yard that a neighbor cannot turn off is EXCEEDINGLY rude no matter WHAT they sound like. Most people could probably agree that Mozart created the most beautiful music in the world, but what imbecile wants to hear it every time the freaking wind blows? For heaven's sake, what idiot said, "The world isn't noisy enough - let's add chimes!"
When did the sound of the rustling leaves, birds chirping, children laughing, etc., fall out of fashion? We've become a nation of noise addicts. I lived nextdoor and down the street from two of these villiage idiots. There was not a peaceful place on the entire block. The irony was that they probably couldn't hear it because their televisions and radios (yes, on outdoor speakers) were on constantly. It will not surprise me to find out that all this noise we are subject to causes cancer.
And one more thing, it is very stressful to be subject to a noise 24/365 over which one has no control. It is pretty bad when a taxpaying homeowner must shut doors and windows to keep out a noise that is TOTALLY UNNECESSARY, and not be able to enjoy one's yard because the incessant tinkling is about to drive them absolutely mad. I am astounded (judging from some of the complaints I've heard) that no one has been murdered because of these dreadful devices.
If a person likes chimes, fine. Take them outside when you want to listen to them; take them back inside (WHERE THEY BELONG) when you are done, and enjoy them in the privacy of one's OWN home by placing them in front of an oscillating fan for Pete's sake, instead of subjecting one's neighbors to these jingly-jangly devices 24 hours a day 365 days a year. I stand by my original comment - hanging a windchime, regardless of its sound is a VERY RUDE and SELFISH thing to do.
People, this is the internet. Kind folks like to vent their pointless frustrations on youtube videos. Aren't we all guilty of that?

bombgayblue52 sounds like an old crank who need to take his/her meds before the Sundowner's kicks in.

giant windchimes are best suited to rural areas where the owners also own a large track of land.

Rude people hang windchimes, forcing all in the neighborhood to listen to their musical instrument played by the wind.
bombayblue52 2 years ago
its only rude when the chimes sound like crap, or when they hang like 20 different outa tune chimes
