  • Will Sinnot and Colin Angus were amazing! i remember when Will passed, so so sad. its a shame they will only be ever remembered for things they did post Will. As far as im concerned Mr.C was their downfall. Musice like this is what they should be known for!!

  • @postmortemdate I can't agree with Mr C being their downfall. He performed on ProGen/Move Any Mountain for them, don't forget.

  • @arglwyddanfradwrus this is true, that album brought them commercial success, he also did ebeneezer goode :/

i just much prefer the stuff before ProGen :)

  • @postmortemdate Some of their pre-90's stuff was very good, you do have a valid point in that respect! :D

  • early shamen rules.

  • Well, yes. But I have to say I liked their "Move Any Mountain" era best!

  • @arglwyddanfradwrus no mate, "In Gorbachev We Trust" all the way.......... Adam Strange is my mate........

  • @TheLexyboy and Gilbert Weird is my chum! :P

  • @TheLexyboy Will Sinnot was my second cousin.

  • @VampireYouth Whoa, a claim to fame! :D

  • @arglwyddanfradwrus Yeah, I never met him though. He died not long after I was born. I'm only twenty. My Dad knew him though, he was his cousin. He didn't have much contact after my dad left Scotland though. The strange thing is he looks just like my uncle John, literally the spitting image of him.

  • @VampireYouth Aww! :(

  • @VampireYouth was he? It was a real shame what happened, especially since they were just hitting the big time. I first saw the Shamen in the late 80's when they were just starting to experiment with hip hop and dance beats and Will was always a great performer. The last tour with Will in the lineup was like a rave on the road- absolutely stunning. You should be proud of him.

  • @TheLexyboy YEah, I'd definitely second that! :D

  • @arglwyddanfradwrus too right bud, The Shamen were one of THE pioneers of the dance scene. A lot of people dont appreciate is that Rave would never have happened without Alternative bands crossing over. I was in the scene when it happened, and im so glad about that. First saw The Shamen in the Glasgow Tech in 86'. Next tour, Tech again, but now it was heavy beats and synths with serious lightshow. Im not kiddin, half the scene went with the new music, the other half said "thats pish". Fools....

  • @TheLexyboy Yeah, that's what my dad had said, that it was such tragic timing. "One of your cousins was in a band, he died just as they were about to make it." I never really asked questions until I was older.

I asked him again recently though and he said that the death came with suspicious circumstances, not a murder or anything, just not completely straight forward. Something to do with somebody else almost drowning and him trying to save them or something. To this day no one fully knows.

  • @VampireYouth Oh, that makes it even more tragic! :-S
