  • haha john legend voice?

  • you are such hipsters....

  • hes like a big explosion of everything i like......beats give me that ratatat mixed with radio head type feel and that smooth John Legend voice... I think the world of Music just hit a Dyer Milestone....... Lord knows we needed it and thats why he didn't allow James Blake In to Heaven so that he could restore and give music that push its been dying for.... this dude definitely listens to ratatat

  • why are all the comments on this guy's music sooo full of BS. . .

  • @thatprettytajaye hating without understanding

  • Through the years I've listened and enjoyed all kinds of weird music. Now I have listen to a few of Blake's tracks, and I have to admit, that I just don't get it. I think I've become too old. It's like Stan in South Park - this just sounds shitty to me.

  • People making "skrillix this and skrillex that" comments like people make comments about justin beiber...skrillex is hardly in the same boat as beiber. Pay the man some respect for what hes done for the genre (however many different sub-genres there might be...).

  • you see here in London, we'd be like "banger, james" and he'd be like "safe" and that'd be it. chill.

  • if this is considered dubstep, then hallelulja ! Im so out of the game ... outdated hanging in the IDM electronica glitchhop cloud, but happy being updated on the musical cabinet with its ever evolving drawers.

  • james blake is a GOD when your Tr!pP!n

  • amazing at Electric Picnic this year

  • I'm often reminded of Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden when listening to him.

  • just discovered him.. so glaaad !

  • fucking stupid people think there's such a genre as "brostep." Dubstep is EDM by definition, this is just ambient music with some bass thrown into the mix

  • People fail to realize that this is indeed dubstep. The problem is, the UKF scene has blinded everyone of what dubstep is.

By definition, this is dubstep, much like Burial and many others.

Now what you hear on UKF is brostep, but nobody recognizes it as such.

  • @MrNoobPride I agree man, people like Skrillex, 16 Bit, borgore are what most people assosciate with dubstep but the roots started with less bass and electro sounds and more snares and more rhythmic sounds like Benga/plastician ect.

  • Can someone please point out this 'post-dubstep,' genre in James Blake cos I'm hearing nothing of the sort

  • @CannibalWhirm you and you're skrillex admiring channel need to learn a thing or two about dubstep. Dubstep used to be actually good.

  • @TheMrZorga Meh, it pleases the masses. I'm not one for skrillex and all that, I just think this lacks any 2step so I don't feel the dubstep. Feel free to give me reasons as to why i'm wrong, I'm not picking a fight i'd just like to know mate...

  • @CannibalWhirm This music is close to the dubstep roots, dubstep has changed alot in the past years (imo negatively). Dubstep nowadays is about who can make the heaviest bassline, it used to be different. May sound like a freaking hipster but i'm quite nostalgic about it ;]

  • @TheMrZorga Hahah nooo not Hipster at all, music is opinions after all. I grew up listening to garage and 2step, and I guess i'm so used to those solid beat patterns the dubstep grew from that I struggle to see it in this kinda music, (Plus the Dub element is missing, but dubstep killed that itself lol.) Don't get me wrong though I love Blake's music, I just feel it lacks solid conventions of the genre

  • @CannibalWhirm ah I get your point

  • @TheMrZorga your actually completely correct. It really makes me sick that people hold certain brostep producers up as the posterchild for dubstep when they are truly not at all dubstep, and thus tainting the name of the genre which I, and many others, so dearly love. Producers like Silkie, Heny G, Quest, L-Wiz, Mala, VIVEK, Ben Verse, and Lurka can make some of the most beautiful and intersting music I've ever heard.

  • ok so if this is called dupstep, somehow, then i have no god damn idea what dupstep is. But this is interesting in a good way, kinda like electronic music for coffee shops. relaxing

  • amazing!!!

  • lovin' equals what? kill you....

  • Its really awkward sounding, but in a cool-feeling kinda way. :)

  • rainymood (.) com ;)

  • he's nothing like bon iver ..in any way shape or form.

  • @mike12jrw1111113 he's better >:( way better

  • @mike12jrw1111113 two different type of music, you can't compare them.

  • i cant wait for him and bon iver to do their colab

  • @etain94 How did you know they were going to Collaborate?

  • This is just too weird!! I just found Bon Iver and never heard of him before.. and now I'm checking out James Blake and you guys are comparing him with Bon Iver.... freaky

  • kinda creepy...

  • very cool! its so different and refreshing.

  • This is my sleepy song

  • fucking sick, love this

  • @natinmymouth Hmm, Okay. May I suggest "Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger" as an alternative, I feel that will suit you better.

  • @MrGenlock dammit curiosity is a bitch sometimes. U owe me some new ears.

  • the spray/shower sounding synth rly made the vibe for this song

  • i call this "titstep" because his music has a tendency to get girls to expose their breasts to open air in what seems to be an absolute hypnotic state.

  • wow this song blows without a subwoofer

  • POSTAL SERVICE

  • @cstopho Yes! So reminds me of Postal Service.

  • Schittttt !

  • this is great revision music :)

  • people need to be less anal about catagorising music. after all its creativity

  • @Fred66613 kapoow

  • I like arguing about genres.

    So much is achieved.

And it makes this amazing music sound so much better when I know EXACTLY what to call it.

    Stuff it. Enjoy the music.

  • @jerkthezerk i call it post dubstep

  • @jerkthezerk This is called emostep

  • I just discovered James Blake when I came to England from America in September. And I love it. There's just something about it - it doesn't really make you feel good, just makes those dark and complex emotions surface. It's great to hear something that doesn't make you feel just good or just bad. I think that's why some people feel it's shit, because it's hard to categorize. But he's an artist that makes you think from a different perspective, and that's refreshing.

  • Hey everyone, I think half of the point in his music is so that it doesn't fit into a category.

  • It actually is really ghostly and haunting. Just, beautiful and I can't quite put my finger on why. All of James' stuff has the ability to put you in a strange, trance-like state of calm. Love it.

  • Te beauty of this song, in fact all of James' songs, is that you never want them to stop. Ever.

  • awesome.

  • Jamie Woon..

  • this is pretty..but i have to say its kind of creepy.makes me this of ghosts or something...

  • @seethebeautyinit it isn't creppy if you go with it....just listen. amazing.

  • this is pretty..but i have to say its kind of creepy.makes me this of ghosets or something...

  • Dubstep?

Dub: Using a previous recording sample and manipulating it to create a new recording?

    Step: 2-step and/or half-time drum patterns?

Not all Dubstep has to have filthy bass wobbles, thats bro-step brah*

  • How is it dubstep? It's more like trip-hop

  • the beat is more trip hop....it is far from dubstep...

but it doesn't matter, can we just call it good music?

    =)

  • I don't know why he keeps getting referred to as dubstep or some variation of dubstep. This has about as much in common with dubstep as electro or house or even breakbeat. It's electronic and uses electronic elements, that's pretty much where the similarity stops. I'd say it's closer to something like Sigur Ros, whatever you'd call them.

Why am I typing and not listening?....

  • he discouraged him to believe he could save someone else's life by impersonating that guy. the guy was not saved

  • This beat really reminds me of Thom Yorke's work on The Eraser.

  • goosebumps all over

  • I like to call it 'post-dubstep impressionism' lol...

  • @gusblair Or "neo-garage"? Or just "Burial-thievery".

  • @MrHathouse yeah why not! .. bit of post-dubstep burial-thievery .. cannie beat it

  • @gusblair lol most hipster comment ever

  • @Gazonkie I know this guy, the best thing is, you couldn't be more wrong.

  • BElGIUM LOVES YOU ! !

  • loving goes up

  • post-dubstep isn't it?

  • @sake92 Yes...I was thinkinh progressive dubstep perhaps?

  • @goldsparkz hm okay (:

i'll just look out for that

  • hurmmmm i like the sound of him, i just dont like any of his songs....... didt know that could happen

  • This puts me so on edge at first. Then it just...smoothes out. Kind of makes my flesh creep a little. It's absolutely beautiful.

  • the bon iver of electronic

  • @tetralysal300 very good shout

  • @tetralysal300 Yeah, I don't think I've heard that before. You clearly are an amazing cultured music lover

  • @tetralysal300 omfg bon iver is a god :')

  • @tetralysal300 Yeah, I agree. Both amazing artists.

  • @tetralysal300 I thought Bon Iver was the Bon Iver of electronic...

  • @WootZillza how is bon iver electronic ?

  • @tetralysal300 he said the bon iver of electronic... he's comparing the two.

  • @mattwatchesvids How is that comparing in the slightest? He's saying this is the alternative of 'electronic' the same way that Bon Iver is the alternative to 'conventional' music!

  • @tetralysal300 hell yeah, that's the point. hahah thx^^

  • that picture is effing with me O.o

  • Feels like I've had an ear transplant and I'm hearing music for the first time ever. Haunting, chilled out and awesome!

but yeah, aaaaawesome awesome awesome , thank you james

  • amazing album

  • Not my kind of thing :(

  • Such amazing music

  • Like this a lot. Sounds like an Icelandic group called 'múm'. watch?v=oHTFmJk7fH0

  • indescribable feeling at this point

  • all hail the new four tet

  • Whats the definition of music? Art and creativity comes in many forms. "an artistic form of auditory communication incorporating instrumental or vocal tones in a structured and continuous manner"

Needs a bot of work for the dancefloor but nice

  • @izzieBellaa it is not his best work, one of his best or probably his best song is limit to you're love, if you do not know it you might wanna check it out, and wait for the bass! ;)

  • @Bongrush limit to you're love was how i found him, and i LOVED the song, but when i looked at his other music i wasn't so impressed, there's a big difference.

  • @izzieBellaa thats treu, i think almost every song he makes is different, geuss a curtain taste is requiered to like all of his songs. never the less they are still pretty good, but i deffinitly hope that he makes more like limit to you're love, qause that song was perfection to me.

  • @Bongrush

agree that limit to your love is a great song, however i'd have to say i like his remix of stop what your doing doing by untold best. and cmyk is killer also

  • @izzieBellaa well, there is a rhythm and i hear a melody so that explains itself right there.

  • @izzieBellaa How can anything be called music? at the end of the day it's just vibrations that cause electrical impulses in our brain. I'm all for the 'there is no such thing as music' approach if you are

  • @jermsoe this track prooves what an idiotic statement you just made "there is no such thing as music"

  • @TheChronicvids You're missing the point

  • @izzieBellaa Their have been much more abstact things then this called music, all it is sound, but a sound from person.

  • bon iver sample? cant tell.

  • @itsjustgoodmusic I was wondering the same thing..hmmm.

  • @itsjustgoodmusic i thought it sounded like him (justin vernon), too...

  • ......................

I can't explain why i'm drawn to this. Multiple listens and you never lost interest. It's hypnotically amazing!

  • @lt1eg6 then you should try Stress by Thomas Bangalter. Also very .... special. more electronic. Or maybe Fire Ants by Bibio. Have fun!

  • @lt1eg6 its that synth that gets me every time

  • @lt1eg6 For some reason the little bleeps just get me jiving uncontrollably at my desk and I have no idea why, but I like it! :D

  • @lt1eg6 James Blake is a hypnotist :)

  • I loved LIMIT TO YOUR LOVE - it's your voice that is so beautiful. I feel like the stilted stop and start is like my system is broken... Nice experiment but doesn't really work for me.

  • @cynjy i think youve got it spot on

  • @cynjy agreed

  • is anyone else reminded of squarepusher by this track? i could swear part of this is from one of squarepusher's works.

  • funny song name

  • So how did you get the EP in mp3 format? I'm just interested in buying the mp3's, I don't want the vinyl.

  • @ricerice566 pre-order on iTunes, out October 10th

  • @ricerice566 boomkat!

  • @ricerice566 Doesn't Bleep.com carry this?

  • @stfn314 Niice, it does. thanks

  • @stfn314 you are a good man for merely knowing of bleep

  • @ricerice566 Boomkat.
