Sh!!!!!!!t it sounds like "GOD" is trying to get out of that engine, the fiesta is a wicked looking little car i hope dominates "Citreon" good luck...
the power will be about the same as it used to be in the old cars, they say. and the gearbox will be operated with a manual stick rather than the paddle. but i think ford will not be as fast as citroen. i mean i hope they would be faster, but i just don't think they will be. :(
@Maelstroom9 No, PWRC cars make more than that. I've read on some forums from a guy who knows a thing a two about group N cars. An Evo IX n4 produces around 300 HP, and the EvoX even more than that. I must be referring to the Evo. Even Tommi Makinen said his Subaru N4 can produce around 320 HP.
The new WRcars will have Direct Injection which should give them plenty of power.
@rendezvous65 Thx to the information, because i used the WRC 2010 official game as a reference for the power of the cars. Btw the new WRC cars have smaller engines which is 1.6 litre, compared to the 2 litre of the PWRC cars. I read in a magazine that the max power output of the DS3 WRC is 300 HP, which is the maximum power allowed by the regulation.
@Maelstroom9 To the best of my knowledge they will be using the same 34mm restrictor on the new 1.6 turbo engines this simply means that the power torque curve will differ from the old 2.0t WRC engines which were tuned for mid range torque rather than bhp at higher rpm's the area where they suffered more than the newer 1.6t's will.

@rendezvous65 All the WRC manufacturers are guilty of this little deception. They quote a power figure near the maximum usable rpm & everyone assumes that this is the maximum power because the figures look like powerful road car numbers. What they carefully hide is the huge mid-range torque gives them more power at 3500 - 4000 rpm than they have at 5500 - 6000rpm, and well in excess of the notional 300HP FIA power limit. The torq curves for a 08 Focus, 660Nm @ 4000rpm equates to 370HP (376PS).
@kspiers1 Altough figures of race cars are alwasy deceptive, it's interesting that since the Group A most manufacturers have quoted the "target" of 300 bhp. Must be some kidn of collective agreement.
These new WRC cars at the initial tests seem to confirm that the Drivers will be tested more than at any time since the end of the Group 'A' era in the late 1990's.
The new WRC cars look to require a more aggressive driving style than has been seen of late
I reckon Colin McRae's driving style would have suited these new cars 100%
@Maelstroom9 I think it's more than that. WRCars usually make more power than their stated figure. The exact figures are a closely guarded top secret. Even Group N's make at least 300 HP.
There is also going to be a detuned S2000 version of this class with a not as good aero package, weaker brakes, and a smaller restrictor.
@CookeysAnMilk if you talking about the way he driving.. its a test which mean he test the speed, steering response, brake response and everything else
The car looks very agile and responsive to steering. Sounds even better then 2.0 wrc. Hard to compare to DS3 WRC, but I hope it can beat Citroens next year.

@rendezvous65 according to the new regulations 300 hp is the maximum. Btw, pwrc cars have less than 300 hp I think.

@kspiers1 The new regulations actually require a 33mm restrictor and boost is limited to 2.5 bar.

@Andypan43 it's the same amount of hp in theese, compared to the 2.0 litre..... smaller restrictor and less torque :)

Nice to hear a rally car revving aboing 5k rpm. And that anti-lag popping is amazing. There is hope for the WRC yet.

well shot video but is this the fiesta with the 2.0ltr focus engine (minus the turbo ) being tested by miko before the 1.6 turbo unit was available ?

@dougstermw No, it's the WRC 2011 spec car as Malcom Wilson had stated at Paris's motorshow. That's what we'll be watching in the new season-era.
