Minecraft I think is better... not because its 3d, but I prefer a survival game, Terraria is still cool, but its more adventure, which is ok, but I have both.

@darthd101 I only truly experience the survival part in vanilla servers, where the main spawn is over-griefed and I have to walk far out to the newly generated lands. The survival kicked in when my hunger bar became a problem.

The only way minecraft could be better is for 3D building and mods, and Terraria is way better Vanilla. Also it is $5. Also it does have mods and texture packs, just, less.

Terreria isn't just a 2D minecraft it's a whole new experience and game, I played minecraft for all ready a year and I LOVE it but I gave Terreria a chance and now I like it a lot better.

@SargentBlueberry ok, I played it once... I still hate it and prefer minecraft. While terraria isn't the same game, it is definitely not a very original game in many aspects. However, it seems that both games borrow certain aspects from each other, and Notch even recommends playing terraria. To be fair, Minecraft isn't a fully original game either, as it was inspired by dwarf fortress and infiniminer, but If I had to choose one, it would be minecraft.

They are comparable, but they are unique enough in their style and sense makes them quite different games. Minecraft feel more like a survival-fuck-I'm-screwed-I'll­-lose-everything type of game, while Terraria has more of an old-style action game plus the elements of an RPG. Yes you can build in both, but there are differences even there.

@aaronboon620 Sorry, but Notch has decided to make Minecraft not an RPG but a sandbox game. In fact, that's the worst comparison I ever heard of. XP gives you a higher enchanting level, used to, you know, enchanting weapon and armor. There is a one time only boss called the Enderdragon which then you would achieve an achievement (lol) called "The End". And it's hard as f*ck. But don't worry there are lots of mods and servers that can make an RPG styled gameplay.
