  • Favorite bassist ever.

  • What type of bass is that? And would it be worth it to buy the bass tab book for this if I have a 5 string instead of a 6 string? Is the 6th string even used that often or could it be easily transposed?

  • @soadfan42 Peavey Cirrus... and yes, its worth it. He primarily uses the lower 5 strings. -Chris

  • you need to turn the bass up on all the songs bc the beautiful guitars mask the incredible bass

  • I think i speak for everyone when i say that we NEED to see more of this bass master.

  • What type of strings and gauges are you using?Does your low B very slanky?

  • cool im bassically getting the same bass amp set up as you, this month.

  • Other then just being some amazing musicians, Scale the Summit just might be the most fan friendly accessible band EVER.

  • carvin?

  • @yoyomyhoes Peavey Cirrus

  • the bass, in my opinion, is at solidifies this band... i've heard alot of progressive bands where the bass is so weak and uninspiring.. i easily lose interest because of that.. but ya.. that said, i really like this band and their bassist.

  • So calm throughout. You have the eye of the tiger, my friend.

  • how does Jordan like the peavey cirrus compared to the music man bongo 6?

  • im digging the country bass line at 3:47! haha

  • If this guy, Arif M., Paolo Gregoletto and Victor Wooten collaborated.... who knows what would happen!?!?!?! Prog Metal + Mathcore + Thrash Metal + Jazz = ??????

  • @MrIKTPQ4life Progmathrashazz?

  • @MrIKTPQ4life you forgot dan briggs

  • badass.

  • The bass solo in "City in the Sky" is so beautiful and tasteful! Love it!

  • I love that you guys stick to standard tuning (at least the bass) i hate when a bass tunes low, don't sound good at all

  • what was the guy saying "awful idea" about in the beginning?

  • when is there gonna be drum view studio updates?

    Very sick btw...

    keep up the jams!

    :D

  • i wish there was a bass tab book for monument. i've listened to that album non stop since it was released...

i realise as i type i should probably maybe tab it myself haha

  • I love the fact that he has his bass up to his chest.

I know I want to play bass when i'm 45.

    Fuck you Carpel Tunnel!

  • Can Jordan Please make a bass technique book like Chris's guitar technique book? It would help me so much as a bassist!

  • @AceFlorence I agree! Jordan should definitely make a technique book. It would be an amazingly helpful gift to bassists everywhere.

  • My ask ur tunning?

  • @AswesawLife B E A D G C

  • I'm glad I'm not the only person alive that prefers to play my bass further up the torso. Assists me a ton for dexterity, precision, and tapping.

  • @MyEggIsBoiled dude my buddies bass is practically on his knees when he plays. i have no clue how does it. i much prefer up about even with my waist.

  • Hey Jordan, would you mind telling me what your rig (other than your bass) consists of? Thanks!

  • @JohnHorne1991 Eden WT1205 Bass head. Eden 8x10 Cab.

  • @scalethesummit Thanks man, your tone is great btw! Got a Scale the Summit t-shirt on its way in the mail now!

  • Come to St.John's Newfoundland please. <3

  • Looks like Ill check Jordan on my list of influential bass players, just ordered the tab book, cant wait for a tour!

  • this band is probably one of the biggest influences in the songs i write. thank you for existing :)

  • How does that Peavey handle, dude? I've looked into 'em

  • how often do yall get carpal tunnel surgery haha

  • @adamaldhanki we dont because we play our instruments higher up to help with stretch and bending. hopefully you knocked on wood. that can ruin a musicians career.

  • @scalethesummit thats good. i play mine pretty high too. im moving up a few strings hopefully and id have to play higher to have a bit more dexterity

  • @adamaldhanki yes, you have to be careful. especially if you are playing for hours each day. make sure to take breaks and stretch.

  • @livevil12 didn't have enough strings, ha

  • Man I love his tone on this album. Anyone know what gear (besides the Cirrus) he used for recording?

  • @ninjastep87 I would just tell you, but its been over a year since we were there. I know it was running di, and through some top of the line studio compressor. He uses Eden bass heads and cabs live, if that helps, which sound awesome!

    -Chris

  • @scalethesummit Well I didn't expect to get an answer from someone in the band man, haha. Thought maybe it was in an interview floating around the net that I had yet to find or something. Thanks anyway Chris. You guys are great.

  • Without a doubt one of THE best bassist around. So smooth, atmospheric, proggy, funky, and jazzy... all in one.

One of my biggest inspirations without a doubt.

  • city in the sky is by far my favorite! i mean even the name is epic. i love you guys, take a trip to albuquerque new mexico so i dont have to drive 9 hours to see you guys in arizona again! totaly worth it though

  • Could you tell me what bass amp was used for the album? Or was the bass plugged straight into the board??

  • hey my bands recording our CD this weekend

how long did it take you guys to record bass?

  • Where's the number 3 video?

  • @AHeroWithin search Scale the Summit on vimeo.com

  • please come out with a song book for this album Jordan!!!!!!!

  • there is already a song book dude!

    scalethesummitstore (dot) com

    -chris

  • i just realized that right after i put this comment. thank you.

    im about to order mine

  • @scalethesummit what kinda bass is that that is it a peavey?

  • @HappyDictator Peavey Cirrus.

  • @HappyDictator i knew how did you get a 6 string?? xD oo well schecter, Ibanez and Sprctor more my blood

  • @HappyDictator Jordan endorses peavey cirrus basses.

  • Saw you guys Saturday night...just wanna say that Jordan's tone is SICK and when he played the E on the B string, me and my friends about shat our pants from the epic lowness of it. Very very cool stuff.

  • you guys are awsome

  • Your right hand technique looks so effortless! Playing right next to the bridge all the time is harder than it looks.

  • man it sucks that i missed you guys on the 12th. I got see everyone else except you guys. Well at least i got to get your album :D

  • will you guys please for the love of god come to Seattle! The BTBAM tour skipped us...AND Prog Nation this year...I want to freaking cry. I got ZERO prog shows all year

  • Ya, lol i live up near seattle and i had to go all the way to canada to see em =/...it was so worth it.

  • You guys are amazing! Just discovered you by checking the bands touring with Between the Buried and Me and I had to get myself your 2 cds and 2 t-shirts!!

    I love your sound!

I always liked instrumental bands, I wish you the best of luck! I might see you in Montréal!!

  • NICE! Saw you guys in Chi on the Prog Nation bill. AMAZING! I'm a LaRue/Levin/Sheehan/Myung worshiper and after a very long time I finally have a new sound to dig. All you guys rock. See you on 1/30 in NYC!

  • @joiseyjeff great to hear! thanks a lot!

  • @joiseyjeff see u there too, that show will be amazing, and so will btbam

  • LOL epic bass playing faces

  • @TheNECROMARE

    heve to beee =D

  • Is that a modulous or a peavy?

  • @TheNECROMARE peavey

  • Peavey

  • @TheNECROMARE A Peavey Cirrus - a *criminally* underrated bass, up there with the best production-level basses you can find before you start hitting the truly expensive "Custom" instruments and usually "sleeper" deals because of Peavey's old-school reputation for making solid workhorses but not boutique-level instruments. They changed that in the mid-to-late '90s but still aren't widely known for some AMAZING gear like their new VB-3 37 lb all-tube head.

  • i wish you would have included that really funky bass part of city in the sky, but sick stuff! Come to Seattle please?

  • We really didn't get enough footage of him in the studio, our next album will be video taped a lot better!

We played Seattle in April, we'll definitely be back!

    -Chris

  • I can't wait to see you guys this January in Denver. Do you know what time you'll come on stage?

  • Awesome dude, glad you are excited. Not sure when doors are for that show, but it will be 30 minutes after doors open... so get there early! On our myspace its set to doors at 7pm, so we'll be set for 730pm for our set, but there is no guarantee with that, could be earlier. I would double check with the venue closer to the day of the show.

    -Chris

  • hot damn. i cant wait to see yall in atlanta in january.

    BTBAM

    PLUS

    yous guys...

    brix will be shat

  • Ill try as hard as i can to make the Baltimore show. Too bad its on a monday.

  • Hope you can. Get there early if so!

    -Chris

  • what kind of bass does he use?

he makes the songs look soo easy and hes all relaxed

  • He uses all Eden gear now, Peavey Basses, and Music Man basses. I dont remember the exact model head.... and in the video is he running through the board with a ton of compressors, so if you are looking for that ton it would be hard to match live without having over 10 grand. Hope that some what helped guys.

    -Chris

  • the tone is just beautiful. Honestly, i wish i could get my bass to sound like that. Gotta improve my finger picking first. I'm coming out to Chicago from Minnesota to see you guys in January at the house of blues. That will be the most amazing tour ever. Stoked for you guys!

  • Awesome, make sure to plan on getting there early. That particular show we play at 530pm for some reason. Not really sure on the reasoning behind that.

    -Chris

  • oh, well all of us are fans of yours so we'll be sure to be there! i'm stoked.

  • what gear do you use?

  • Lol at the end. xD

Great, solid bass playing. This is where I want to be at. To play with ease.

  • Any Virginia/DC Dates coming soon Scale the Summit? Would be sick to see you guys perform again with a longer set than Progressive Nation.

    -chris

  • man, thank you and the band sooo much for producing kick ass music. I just read the article about you guys in revolver and im super happy I did. As a bass player, You just stoked my flame of inspiration. I was sooo tired of seeing pete wentz on the cover of bass mags haha! I hope that Scale the Summit opens peoples eyes to what music really is, and should be for years to come. I hope you guys can make Canada a regular stop on your tour's. Keep up the amazing work. All the best. - Corey
