  • We all need to combine our effort and protest against ACTA. They're trying to take away our music video privileges.

  • This is the worst trip Ive ever been on.. I wanna go home!

  • Sembra impossibile..che segua ancora te..questa è una malattia che non va più via..vorrei andar via..vorrei andar via..ma non resisto lontano da te..FORZA TORO.

  • I wish they had made more of these, there so funny and odd.

  • @84heroes1 Admittedly this album when first reelased did not make a massive impact on the charts in the states but I disagree and Lennon and McArtney at the time would've disagreed also. I suppose you think The Beatles were'nt all that either? Tell me if this wasn't one of the best albums of all time then which 3 albums were?

  • @84heroes1 Brian Wilson was from a working class background his dad worked in a tool parts factory

  • no ads at all in greece. one of the few privileges of being in a poor 3rd world country.

  • Does this song have the same feeling to anyone else? I feel a little sense of badassness and sadness.

  • iHad to dislike to keep the joint going ;).

  • Brian Wilson kicks ass !!!

  • I wish people would stop referring to these as "videos"!!

Everything was shot on FILM back in those days...

  • Thumbs up if you listen to this song in 2011!

  • Amazing video.

  • Lovely song - featured in the Midland (now HSBC) bank advert

  • Vevo.. A company to be avoided at all costs in everything I and all my family do for the rest of our lives.. fuckwits is apathetically mild discription of the tossers who put the adverts on for you.. Should think they are going to kill your business eventually as fewer and fewer people put up with it

  • it makes me sick that this video has less views than most of the recent stuff. don't they have any idea how much more this means?

  • Doesn't this sound like they're on a prison ship? Listen to the lyrics and write down how much stuff relates to being in prison.

  • This video is just the Wouldn't It Be Nice video with Sloop John B dubbed in.

  • Why wasn't Dennis in this film?

  • @newwavedave67 I've been wondering the same thing for years, tried internet searches and I cannot find an answer anywhere. "I know there's an answer" lol. Just can't find it!

  • Amazing song

  • What happened to "threw up in the Captain's trunk." ????

  • The song is ok, nice reminder of the sixties but the video is crappy.

  • I just busted the 600 likes hehe

  • This song was originally a traditional West Indies folk song, "The John B. Sails," taken from a collection by Carl Sandburg (1927).

  • funniest beach boy lyrics ever! when you listen to it you picture a whole bunch of debacharchy and drunkeness aboard a boat and getting into fights at a beach side bar haha!

  • One of my all time favorite tunes. Suffice it to say music videos have come a long way in the last 40-50 years.

  • cheapest music video ever but awesome

  • Great song...

  • I was at a Boy Scout camp with my friends this past week. We all enjoy singing, and we all hated the food and the bugs there, so I thought it'd be fun for us all to sing this. I taught everyone the harmonies and whatnot. A week passes, and on the last night (barbeque night) the camped played this song. Well don't you know it, my five guys stood up on the benches and belted it out. It was awesome!

  • @MattMahael Which camp were you attending . I like this song from a Scouting angle also but more tongue in cheek not serious . I love Summer Camp here in NC

  • @mollymu1 It's called camp Makualla. Can't say it was my favorite scout camp, but hey, it's a bunch of my friends and I, and we had fun.

  • @MattMahael Wish you could come to Camp Durant in NC . I have been there 4 years now and have been bit by mosquitos 3 times . There are other camps in NC that sound like the one you mentioned .

  • @MattMahael Haha. You know the camp wasn't that great if THEY play that song! I'm a Boy Scout, too, so I know what you mean. My favorite Scout Camp song of all time was at Camp Manatoc when the staff sang "Razorback Steak." Youtube it- it's on here :-)

Good luck in Scouts! Once a Scout, always a Scout; once an Eagle, always an Eagle!

  • the city is yours, the city is yours,

20,000 empty seats, are you fucking sure?

    GGMU

  • nevermind they are

  • Brian Wilson = Lionel Messi's father. haha!

  • :) i feel so comfortable

  • ^^

  • I adore this

  • I bet their mothers wished they'd quit Monkee-ing around the pool. :-D

  • Poor Brian hes got a golddigger for a wife who convinced him to adopt 5 kids at such a late age.Oh how she manipulates him.I wish Brian would grow some balls already and pay her off and get rid of her.I know Carnie and Wendy would love that.

  • @Desiree50 You Go sis

  • I stand corrected i think. Derek Taylor, publicist.

  • Ha. I happen to know for a fact that Brian does not use cell phones. They scare him and he needs to get therapy if he tries to use them. The song originally intended for this video is Wouldnt it be Nice. It was just an accident that they chose that song to go with the video. The man in the tie would be Nick Grillo, a short term manager of the boys back in 65 or so. Part of a trio of managers that the Beach Boys and Eugene Landy ultimately disposed of.

  • amazing song, i love so much, kiss from france

  • I am a Beach Boys expert. However, I don't know who the dude is in the tie. Anyone else? Thanks...

  • @helovedbigbrother111 I believe it was the Capital Record Producer Nick Venet.

  • @helovedbigbrother111 Ok Beach Boy expert. First off this video is not the official video for this song. Do you know which song this video was orginally intended? If you are an expert you should know. As far as the man in the tie goes, if you are a Beach Boys expert you really should know. I will let you stew a bit before i give the answers. By the way i am the only Beach Boys expert left.

  • @lonelylondonladfan okay maybe im not an "expert". I really like them and I read "Wouldn't it be Nice". was just wondering who the guy is, that's all. Hold on Brian's calling me on my cell....

  • @lonelylondonladfan ummm, why don't you just throw all us Beach Boys novices a collective bone and tell us what song this was originally for?

  • I have to say....I love The Beach Boys (in my 30's btw)...I got married to God Only Knows. This song has alway been my favorite (and yes, I know its a remake/old song). I haven't Youtube'd it till this moment and saw this video. Epic. Thanks.

  • great song

  • The sound quality really sucks here. Why is it that I have to turn up my speakiers to almost full to hear all the effects of the music here?

  • Haha, the Brian/Carl switch at the beginning. :)

  • it doesn't look like a bad trip, it floats well

  • 9 people from Team Melinda again plus The James Jamerson fan club too

  • Fuck Celtic and Fuck Rangers.

  • Pet Sounds was an awesome album

  • Reminds me of the Beatles in Help

  • Famed Beatles (Byrds/ Beach Boys) publicist Derek Taylor in black tie

  • @superbeavo Thanks for solving the mystery

  • Forrest Gump.

  • Vevo, I am grateful for your brilliant idea to stick advertisements into every video I watch. These ads complete my day and make me excited to come on here and watch something. Of course, no sarcasm here.

OK, seriously you stupid fucks! Knock it off with the commercials! Isn't it bad enough we have to see them on TV and on the radio? God, I am sick of this.

  • @comradesmith85 install an ad block for your browser and use an ad filter hosts file.

  • @comradesmith85 Your right, no one should get paid for their work.

  • @comradesmith85 Get Adblock+ already.

  • @comradesmith85 the ads are what enables you to watch videos and listen to music for free. When youtube starts charging for access, youll really be complaining.

  • @comradesmith85 This is how youtube makes money, you fucking idiot. Youtube could NEVER keep this site up if they didn't have any ad revenue. Be happy you don't have to pay any money to use youtube you spoiled cunt.

  • @comradesmith85 Adblock Plus extension. Your Youtube viewing will never be interrupted again. You don't have to thank me. This is a public service announcement.

  • Do you know this one translated to Czech?

    Rangers (Plavci) - Zvedněte kotvy

  • Nice..

  • Love this song!

  • Al Jardine on lead vocal...so much better than that douchebag Mike Love.

  • This song is so easy to play on my guitar!!!! i luv it!!!!!

  • amazing what they could do without synthesizers, recorded voice over, computers and electronic instruments. I mean, you actually had to have some talent.

  • Listen to "on my way back home" by band of horses, it's pretty much the same melody. Personally, I prefer the other one

  • nobody harmonized like the Beach Boys

  • I wish songs were like the old days :D

  • To give Mike Love probably the only credit he'll ever deserve, he looked cool as hell with that beret/beard combo.

  • The counterpoint at 1:50 is superb!

  • Is it me, but where is Dennis ?

  • this song reminds me of a war vet friend of mine named justin reynolds. he loved this song! we served in the united states navy together on the uss puget sound ad 38. when we dated, he was so unhappy and HE WANTED OUT! justin, if your out there, i hope to god you were never called back, shipmate; i am so very glad that you got to go home. ALIVE! (oh, and ha ha i used the lyrics to find the song!) since you couldn't remember it's damn name, though you sang it all the time!

  • the greatest american band ever. rollingstone magazine, and billboard magazine thing so too.

  • Brian Wilson is one of the greatest musical minds that has ever lived. A 'genius' in its truest sense.

  • @MrBigbertie Just curious, do you tell people of all ethnic minorities to go home to their native county? Scotland for Scots, as you say, you remind me of a certain Nick Grififin. Racist fucking scumbag.

  • @MrBigbertie Oh, The Banter!!!

  • @MrBigbertie

im scottish myself, but do not link this song to your religiously racist football manic antics, just stfu and dont comment! and no one gives a damn shit about your football opinions, so beat it!

  • fc united of manchester x)

  • Great cover by the Beach Boys. I don't know which is the best version. I have a very fine calypso version of it

  • I just got the hiccups for laughing so hard during the vid The Beach Boys are awesome comics RIP Dennis and Carl

  • THis song is about a drunk on a boat, called the Sloop John B. Originally it's a song, sung by the people of Tahiti in the Pacific and the Beach Boys made their own song of it.

  • Vevo, you suck!

  • The Fans sing this song at Ibrox but with different words

  • @soalfire

    yyes we do :)

  • @soalfire Fans sing it everywhere. They say that FC United of Manchester's fans started it.

  • @soalfire THE FAMINE IS OVER !!!! haha

  • The Beach Boys are Republicans. I guess they didn't vote for JFK or LBJ.

  • I was on a Ramones mix I don't wanna listen to the beach boys

don't get me wrong it's good music and many ramones stuff are related to them but... come on!!!!

  • Fuck You VEVO !

  • @LAMF1968

    agree thumbs up

  • Jackie Evancho's fav group no joke

  • great song.. used to listen to it all the time

  • @xgUmDrOpSx52

You think so? I like the Relient K cover but still think that the vocals of the BB cannot be surpassed and that Brian's ochestrated backing track gives it much more flavour

  • @alexandertarangerkin I actually liked Matt Thiessen's (of Relient K) vocals better. His softer voice gave the song a more relaxed feel. Just my opinion.

  • DEAR VEVO.....you are the opposite of what is acceptable....and/or cool... stop censoring and sponsoring my favorite songs. curse words are just words....why can't we all just get that?

  • love love love love it

  • Van Dyke Parks must've thought this video was hilarious

  • Never thought I'd see something like this on Vevo.

  • "Back then" he he...

  • The greatest band ever, fact.

  • @MrJohnPip

Nearly John. just got pipped at the post by the Stones & Beatles.

    Still bloody brilliant the BB's.

  • @MrJohnPip Correct you are sir

  • 0:01 skipp adds

  • i wanna go home...

  • sembra impossibile, che seguo ancora te, questa è una malattia che non va più via, non vuole andar via, non voglio andar via di qua, ma io non resisto lontano da te oh oh oh oh. FORZA GRIFO!!!

  • i think Brian Wilson went to bed shortly after this for a month or two, the freak,,,,,,but it is a great song.

  • Who is the strange guy directing every body .

  • Video just looks like The Monkeys or some Beatles BS. Of course the song is as good as anything the brilliant Lennon came up with, and it's my fav BB song as well.

  • @StimpsonJay the beach boys did not come up with this song, it's a traditional song from the west indies. But they obviously added on strange instruments like bicycle bells to the song lol so yeah they made it their own

  • What's amazing about the Beach Boys is their close harmony singing. Every time you hear this song, you discover new background voices. That's very clever done by Brian. It's a mix of high and low voices. It's almost classical music from the baroque era.

  • My boyhood friend just played Leno with Brian Wilson, Musical genius, both of them,

  • My favorite BB song. Never get tired of hearing it - or watching his video.

Life in California in the 1960's.!!

  • These guys are the one of the BEST bands ever.A very awesome unique sound.Love them.

  • one of my many favs

  • I think the Four Preps originally did this.

  • so many memories and feelings great song

  • I wonder if this was played by the wrecking crew. Great song though, no one can touch that harmony that the Beach Boys had, that's a fact

  • @Gunfighter1b As far as I know, this is the Wrecking Crew.

  • WHO WROTE THIS SONG.I KNOW IT WAS NOT THE BBS?

  • Go to''Behind the sounds Sloop John B and listen to a genious at work.

  • Fun (And annoying) Fact: The original words were 'I feel so BREAK UP, I wanna go home.' They soon changed it to Broke up.

  • I guess this is from before they really had music videos.

  • I heard this song, when I was 17 or 18 years old, now almost 40 years ago. Such a perfect song: The Beach Boys were famous of their close harmony singing and that is you can hear very well in this song. Actually, if you listen it over and over you still discover and hear new voices. That's what makes this song really good! It sure needs a remarkable musical talent to compose a song like this, well Brian Wilson was and stil is....

  • @Geense1963 he didn't compose it, he just reedit it - stil great job singing it though

  • @Geense1963 the song was a cover, brian wilson didnt write it, but thats not to say it was brilliantly composed and recorded, the original version doesnt even compare to this.

  • i like the Relient K cover better :D

  • Trying very hard to be like the Beatles in Hard Days Night. Still a great Vid. Thanks for the post.

  • Totally awesome song - my dad had the 20 Golden Greats album when I was a kid and this was my favourite song - still gives me goosebumps 2day - the part where they sing "de-de-deh, de-de-deh" (1:00) makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!! :-)

  • in england they was better that the beatles

  • whats tiger beat magazine

  • The password is sacrifice.

  • @CharliePace195

    The password is sacrifice.

  • I saw this video in a class in my senior year of high-school; it's been so long, but I still get massive nostalgia watching it.

  • I keep seeing this video being used for loads of their songs , different ones. Which was this one actually for?

  • lol my name is my last name starts witha b and my name is john

  • Holy Crap Dana!! It has been 20 years since I first met you at the house on Elm!

  • Epic song - have always loved it - will always be my favorite.

  • I love this song

  • @CrazyKid000888000 - Me too. I never realized it was 'the Boys' who did this. Wow. Great to hear it again.

  • what song was this video originally made for because its been used for this, god only knows, wouldn't it be nice, dont worry baby
