  • theres no drug problem theres a people problem

  • @250xcfktm conditioned by a system problem

  • Psychedelic drugs cause increases in blood pressure and sometimes other physical side effects such as tremors or changes in body temperature, sweating, muscle tension, etc. DMT in fact causes a very sharp rise in blood pressure. The point is he was wrong about it having no effect on the body.

  • One hit, to-go please!

  • Decades later, a trillion dollars, millions arrested, thousands killed.

I will smoke, drink, and eat what I want as long as I don't hurt anyone else.

    my body

    my mind

    my life

  • this is a sad case look at him in a talk show pathetic

  • I wish more people would listen to this man. At least we've gotten a little smarter sense then. He has a lot of truth that most don't know.....but there is a little bit of irresponsibility on his part. We still don't know enough about these drugs to know how much they can effect someone. At least Leary doesn't come up with these full on lies that our government came up with.....like group all drugs together saying they are all killers.

  • I like Reagan even more after watching this nutt.

  • @chris7777777777777 The fact that you said "even more" scares me...

  • @chris7777777777777 i like your mom even more than reagan... if you want to call someone a nutt, why not explain the reason you think he is

  • Tim always looked into the wrong camera!

  • lol what the fuck happens at the end?

  • This man was ahead of his time. In fact he's ahead of most people in THIS time. He would be proud of this technology we use to view him and see it as tool to push the psychedelic agenda and spread the truth about its values and possible salvation from extinction.

  • I really appreciate this interviewer. Most people that interviewed him always seemed to be very combative and condescending. She actually seems interested in what he has to say.

  • @thelatestttplague She might not respect his views, but she respects his vision. A great man, a beautiful mind.

  • Timothy Leary lived his life his own way... He had a great intellect and even at the very end of his life, seemed lucid and intelligent. His greatest gift to humanity were the statements of Think for yourself and Question authority. He wanted people to make their own decisions about drugs.

  • Is there a way to eliminate sxephil from the YouTube sidebar? Really getting sick of seeing that twit's face, especially on Leary videos. Thanks.

  • psychedelics are the future

  • if u take lsd your tongue turns orange, seriously

  • Check out The lords of the revolution!! Best Leary Doc Ever!!! Finnally a well diserved Documentary about Leary!!!!!!!!

  • wat wasthe end from?what year is this ?85?:

  • Ron Paul 2012 to end the War on Drugs, Default the Constitution, end the "Federal Reserve" and End the "Patriot" Act!!!! Yes Ending the war on nature is possible this election!!!!!

  • R.I.P Timothy Leary, a soft person that fought for what he beleived in, a really fun person : )

  • 4:20 Boys and Girls.

  • @61761176 The psychedelic compounds on their own are not poison's -LSD, Psilocybin, DMT, etc. The mushroom you had eaten must have had other poisonous alkaloids in it. A mushroom like Psilocyben Cubensis is not poisonous at all. So you must have eaten a mushroom that was poisonous. No one has even died from magic mushrooms unless they had an accident while tripping.

  • @mcnowski

    TRUTH!

  • @sk8forlifebitch Thats nonsense, not true at all, it doesnt grow any nerve on your neck!! Where on Earth did you here that ?

  • @mcnowski my friends father but as i search i cant find the correct terms to find the evidence but thats just what i heard but i belive you can still od on raw shrooms like a o or o and a half n youd be dam near close

do you have any insight on how much it takes to od i only do a hq at most or 5g so im not worried :P

  • @sk8forlifebitch Quit trying to spread lies you ignorant fuck.

  • @sk8forlifebitch If you'd ever done mushrooms you'd know its almost the same concept as marijuana. Dude you can eat 200 cubensis mushrooms and have a GOOD trip and you WONT think you can fly, you'll wonder why the sky is vibrating, but you WONT think you can fly and if you do your RETARDED. So everything you said is a urban myth. And if you can't eat 200 mushrooms without going insane like every normal person in the world then guess what? BAD MUSHROOMS. mushrooms not poison, people are morons.

  • @Felderos my body is my spaceship im flying high right now

  • @mcnowski What 61761176 is saying is not entirely untrue. One Erowid user reported being unable to eat n e thing but lite snacks for 2 weeks. Grof in Hofmann's Potion states that the psychedelic experience can be achieved w/o drugs via "...*fasting* in combination with meditation." The chemistry of the brain is connected with the chemistry of the body.

  • @61761176

bullshit... not possible.. dont spread lies...

  • @61761176 Sorry to hear about your experience! Sounds scary. I've never had that problem. As a matter of fact, I have done mushrooms over 200 times, and have never had any negative effects. I am a software architect/programmer and work hard 6 days a week...make decent money....and trip out several times a month! Greetings from San Francisco.

  • @61761176 your problem was your dosage. Too much of anything is bad, hell you can get poisoning from drinking too much water....

don't blame the substance on the user.

  • @61761176 ur retarded, next time make sure u have the right mushrooms, make sure u CLEAN THEM, and make sure there are no worms/parasites/bugs etc. and take well over 50 dried grams. tell me how ur trip goes.

  • @Felderos please no one take "50" dried grams, more like 5 g's

  • @61761176 Do you agree that water has no affect on the body except positive? we need water to survive correct? Just like timothy said in many of his other interviews, that you should moderate everything, too much of anything is bad for you, even drugs, and timothy says that in his interviews. I mentioned water because if you drink too much water, too quickly, you WILL die, not maybe you will. So going by the way you think, is water also considered POISON?

  • @61761176 "I personally took too many mushrooms.."

And I drank too much water one day.

  • @wasssuppp08 Absolutely correct

  • When Leary was talking about Marijuana killing 25 people over 25 000 years, he was being metaphorical to make a point as to how safe it is. he really should have said it has never killed anybody.

  • why is she such a bitch... i hate when interviewers seem

unfriendly and condescending when they don't agree

  • @JR1840 Spot on!!!!!!!!

  • this lady needs to dose moar

  • hey, jackass, I am the one who said it doesnt hurt your body. learn how to read

  • i wish i was alive in the 60's doing acid.. i take LSd on the death of his and alberts bday every year

  • she was a very polite interviewer. I liked her

  • thats some bullshit

    marijuana never killed anybody

  • I'm listening Leary, I'm listening.

    this flame is still moving

  • He looks and acts just like Ron Paul.

  • The universe is manifesting as it should the 60's were great . So is now. If you listen to politicians CNN ,FOX, and all the spin doctors you will go insane or become a mimic corporate puppet fart sniffer. Eat good food, have loving sex, relax find rewarding work, and piss on anyone who tells you how to live. Especially piss on politicians they need a warm excepting experience to bring them from their high pedestals.

  • i like how shes trying to get him to argue and feel offended, but since hes an old hippy he doesnt give a shit

  • Why would he say there was never any brain damage from lsd..Sid barrett over did it and the guys noticed he was totally different after him being gone for few days..Rodger eventually said he was stark raving mad..

  • @dannyhood66 syd was schizophrenic..

the acid use helped tip him over the edge..

    but.

the acid did not create the schizophrenia...

people with underlying psychological problems who abuse psychedelics, often end up fucked up .

but people without problems, do not.

it is about whether some one is predisposed to mental illness or not, however, regardless of the acid use, syd was a goner.

the fame, and his emerging celebrity status, is what tipped him over more than drugs.

    it is complex

  • @psynapsurfa I don't know if he was that bad with psychological problems..Gilmore mentioned something about it in the book saucerful full of secrets but vaguely..There was a place where they ed hangout (sid did) and one of the guys Sid lived with said you couldn't touch anyone's drink touch or anything without it being laced with lsd..I think even the manager peter Jenner gave it to him once or something he said because he was so creative? One of the girls said people had a lot to answer for him

  • @dannyhood66 from what i saw on docos, he seemed to not handle the celebrity status he had. the same way that kurt cobain didnt handle it. it seems that drugs can trigger schizophrenia in people who are predisposed to it. so that does not mean that acid causes it. anyway, it is a touchy subject, and i dont claim to know a lot about syd barret. so you may be correct. i think acid got a bad reputation, and has gained some misconceptions via bad propaganda and a few famous cases like syd

  • @dannyhood66 (part2} i think that lsd and other psychedelics have got a bad rep, and this was created in the 60s and 70s, via propaganda from the govt via the media, and then entering the collective minds of the conservative world, and being passed on like a game of chinese whispers.

conservatives hate drugs, and love a tale of destruction. anything to keep them feeling safe in their hatred and xenophobia.

there are lots of lies about lsd that are still believed by the masses.

  • @psynapsurfa I hear you man,' The thing about it, (Drugs) except marijuana that is? Is people,'' I mean a few rotten apples just really ruins the fuck out of everything''..Even the psychirast,(i cant spell for shit) back in the 1940s that used knew back then it shouldn't have been released all over the world..Or i should say given to certain species of people that are wired wrong to begin with..!aH I don't know man? Shit even (AA) alcoholics anonymous used on patients..The founders AA

  • LSD (as is DMT, Psilocybin, Mescaline, Ayahuasca, and all other hallucinogens) is a tool for traveling within and beyond the universe, not a drug!!

  • @XBudBomberX SO TRUE MAN!!! That's exactly what i always say!!!

  • Great interview, but the drugs he mentioned do effect your body; increased temperature and sweating, increased heart rate, dilated blood vessels, and decreased hunger (more mental I suppose). These effects aren't permanent like the effects, mental and physical, of many pharmaceutical drugs. However, with too much of almost any drug (save marijuana), permanent negative will occur. Now I sound like a conservative asswipe. Do good drugs to open your mind to what's good, what's really out there.

  • tim handles this woman so well, others would have kicked here, but tim was so polite and accepting....

  • Now i say this because when a person finds themself on LSD they will look at the world in a new way. It is like looking at the world for the first time (without all your past conditionings distorting it) true real natural world. you will associate things with other things that you would not normally relate to each other. It changes your thinking it opens up your mind. People can say whatever the will about drugs but they really do open up the mind in an amazing way.

  • @Salvac88 The mind can't be damaged, only the brain, and the brain is what interprets the mind. If you believe the mind is a product of brain activity< I would demand a refund from the institution that taught you neuroscience.

  • @mcnowski @mcnowski Ironically enough, the statement "damages the mind" has no basis in actual neuroscience. LSD has been proven to not neuro-toxic. This guy can't claim that lsd "damages the mind" when he studies the brain. Furthermore. this Salvac fellow did not provide any mechanism on how it damages the brain or mind. So he fails. Hard.

  • @Salvac88 Liar. Show me your evidence. Other wise GTFO.

  • @Salvac88 what papers and scientists would you cite for your evidence?

  • Comment removed

  • @Salvac88 ... i think the only thing you have a degree in is: closemindedness and dishonesty....

as if you have a degree in nueroscience..... if so, dont you have better things to do than pick fights with old acid users....

and if so, why are you not joining the other scientists that want to re examine this valuable substance...

no, you are just a troll.... not more not less...

go take some psychedelics and then maybe you mind will open..

as hendrix asked, have you ever been experienced?

  • @Salvac88 University of Phoenix offers neuroscience now?

  • @likespinningplanets nop. I just took lsd and became a genius superior to all humankind, and discorver the misterys of the mind :)

  • @Salvac88 it obviously didn't help your 2nd grade grammar and spelling skills too well.

  • @Salvac88 Hey don't worry about your neuroscience degree, if you did any philosophy you would KNOW the mind &the brain R2 separate things&any1 "experienced" knows not2 abuse the sanctity of the experience. I also would want a refund from wherever you learnt neuroscience, obviously you did the theory, without any understanding of the practice, ask Socrates!!!

  • I would have loved to live in the 60's. How come the world has changed so much to the worst for all. The modern society is sick.

  • What was that bit at the end?

  • True spirituality is not all roses as the drug generation of the 60's have discovered.

People need to be told what to do.

  • 2:36 LMAO. GOOD video man

  • Leary is a great person who is tells the truth about psychedelic substances.

I think Bill Hicks took a lot of his ideas,or they were on the same wave mentally and had a courage to tell the truth to the people.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES im going to leave your comment up for awhile, but it really is mis-informed. You really have no idea how much psychedelics have help move us forward? its not your fault, rarely does positive drug information get broadcast on mainstream news outlets.

  • @mcnowski No it's not . LSD may have some properties in it that help the brain but in it's pure form it's very very dangerous. Leary even shows signs here of drug abuse.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES is an state-of-mental awareness drug abuse? is so then alright yeah

  • @mcnowski true that, interesting fact: watson and crick, the discoverers of the double helix said they never would have discovered dna without lsd. and bill gates got the idea for the pc while on an acid trip. the people who have used psychedelic drugs and their contributions to society are more wide reaching than most know

  • @pwgroh Umm Bill gates didn't invent the PC. Even the OS was based on other peoples work.

  • @OXTHEII my mistake. well whatever bill gates did he was high on acid when he did it

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES First of all, it's in human nature to be selfish. But there's a difference between being selfish and doing something for yourself. There have been COUNTLESS people who have done great things not only for our country but for the world that have done any kind of drug. (Minus the drugs caffeine, alcohol, etc.) You don't see much of it though because the media is usually focused on the negative things and give false information. And before you go saying that any of the people...

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES ...that put us on the moon or did something that YOU find "good" didn't do drugs, remember that you really don't know that. You really don't know if ANY of the people that have been in a spacecraft, worked at NASA or have been on the moon, have ever been users of any drug. Think before you speak.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES yeah, and the sky is purple with yellow and pink polka dots and pig fly over the andes to get at the flying fish for their canadian BBQ's...

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES your an idiot. You've been watching too much tv. no wonder your name is televisionarchives.

  • When LSD is taken it deconditions your mind. (now think of your mind as machine in which all your experiences have built it into what it is now and makes you think the way you do). When off said drug the conditioned mind will see a buzzing noise caused by a bee to be but a bee. but while on LSD your newly found deconditioned mind will not recognize the buzzing noise as anything you have experienced before so you will have to turn around to find out it is a bee.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES i bet the "burn 'em" hicks quote doesn't apply to you, seeing as how you prolly listen to...i can't fathom the kind of shit you put in your ears and feed your brain. and with that type of mentality, ppl only do drugs for personal gain, it can be applied to anything, political positions, religious positions, banks, ranks in corporations, stock market, kkk, you see you can't agrue against what you do not understand.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES

    I just LOL'd.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES Yea except DNA was founded while on LSD. So that kinda disproves your point.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES It is impossible to pinpoint who specifically creates change in the world. My sociology teacher tells me that the rebellious always bring about the positive change.

  • @Tengent Drug abuse doesn't do anything for the world

  • Comment removed

  • @Tengent I can. LSD has some interesting properties. But just like other drugs it's dangerous in it's pure form.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES acid only gets used in its pure form... it is just the size of dose that differs... now, the family, that controled the acid around thr grateful dead, would use it in doses known as thumbprints, where they would consume a thumbprint full of pure crystal...10 000-40 000 doses at a time, they all survived, none lost their mind, in fact, they say it was the most important spiritual rebirth of their lives... now, i am not condone that size dose, however i will call it abuse

  • @psynapsurfa dam, i type too fast sometimes!!! that was meant to say, however, i will NOTcall it abuse..... these people knew what they were doing, and did it in controllled loving environments..... if anyone is curious about reading of this practise goto shroomery, and type in thumbprints....

personally, i have dosed very low, and quite high doses

50 mics to 2000 mics, 100s of times, and 14+gms of shrooms, for the last twenty years, and i am still perfectly sane..

  • @psynapsurfa That's awesome!

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES personally, i habe met very few people who have abused acid, yet have known hundreds or more to use it... acid isnt really a drug of abuse..

funny your statement relating to acid really, when the silicon valley is one of the spots on th eplanet where the greatest amount of acid gets uesed...... billl gates, that steve jobs fellow from apple, and all those computer science guys... jobs directly attributes his acid use to his succes in thinking out of the box..

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES

not a coincidence that one named, "TELEVISIONARCHIVES," sees drugs in this light.

  • @TrevorKingKwong What? You guys sure make some pretty lame arguments. Half of you can't even spell or use proper grammar.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES

that's irrelevant, but since you brought it up, where did I use improper grammar?

I'm just pointing out that it's not surprising a mainstream television follower would see drugs as completely damaging.

  • @TrevorKingKwong And yet you assume you know what I do for a living. LSD has some properties in it that do effect the mind. But just like other drugs it causes more damage to the brain then good. Everyone one of The Beatles used it and everyone of them at one time or another said they regret using it. That's all I need to hear.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES they regret it because the things those drugs show you wont work in the society we live in because of people like yourself.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES What I don't get is why does it matter what people put in their bodies? If someone is tripping out on a drug, that's their business. The law should only get involved if someone commits a violent crime. I mean with all the druf offenders getting locked up, what happens to the scum? The killers and rapists, they get off. A killer can claim insanity and possibly get off, but someone caught with marijuana enough gets life... How insane is that?

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES What I don't get is why does it matter what people put in their bodies? If someone is tripping out on a drug, that's their business. The law should only get involved if someone commits a violent crime. I mean with all the drug offenders getting locked up, what happens to the scum? The killers and rapists, they get off. A killer can claim insanity and possibly get off, but someone caught with marijuana enough gets life... How insane is that?

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES "Drugs did this drugs did that blah blah blah." Why don't you un-educated fools be more specific when you discuss subjects like this? I'll tell you why, because you don't know crap about what you are talking about. Caffeine is a drug. Tobacco is a drug. Alcohol is a drug. So what is your point?

Great minds? You don't even know what you are talking about. Get out of your house, educate yourself, and see the world.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES

Your statement is utterly foolish & ignorant. Have you ever heard about 'Yoga' or about 'Tantra'. These were the products invented/discovered by the greatest psychedelic user ever lived on earth, the Lord Shiva.

Shiva consumed Marijuana/Bhang (not smoked but as a drink/shake) & also Datura.

Almost all the world today is practising Yoga in some or other way.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES You were beaten as a kid, weren't you?

  • @cyclos12 No. And please, Come up with a better agreement then that. I will give you another chance .

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES tell that to Steve Jobs you anus

  • @likespinningplanets Oh yeah. Steve Jobs is walking picture of health. Not.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES yeah moron because his cancer is linked with LSD right? Your probably the prototypical conservative. Hopefully Ma and Pa don't know your watching Timothy Leary video's instead of watching Fox News and ironing your polos and slacks

  • @likespinningplanets It damaged his body.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES no... no it did not damage his body. LSD has literally no physiological effect on your body. do some research. read 1 book about it. stop being a jackass

  • @likespinningplanets Bull A man in Maine was on the news here talking about having the same Health Problems as Jobs. He said he used LSD as well.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES Pancreatic cancer has to do with LSD? and the fact that that one guy is sick is simply a coincidence. do some research man. just because your ignorant and refuse to try to investigate and understand the facts about LSD does not make you right. it makes you a moron. I hope you know that.

  • @likespinningplanets wake up fool l s d dose no damage to his body i know what did it old age it happens to us all with or without drugs just one different is the one who use l s d knows his own mind and understand and see how this life realy works not how they tell you it works to keep you in line sound to me that they got another puppet on a string with you wake up fool yeh i dont use gramer try a different put down

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES ARE YOU INSANE or DELUSIONAL? Or just a media puppet/clone spreading disinformation that you have been programmed2 believe right. Mabey a MK5-ULTRA experimentee?

  • @dimethaltryptamine1 I'm not insane. Not Delusional . Anyone that believes LSD is not sane.

  • @dimethaltryptamine1 My advice to you is to continue to use LSD. If you're stupid enough to do so

  • great interview.

  • girl's hair at 2:16

  • I met Timothy Leary, April 1981, in Santa Monica, and shook hands with him, the same day when I bought a '77 Les Paul Custom.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Leary makes a good point. The 60's was a time for peace, love and an open mind, which was all influenced by Leary and psychedelic drugs...god forbid everyone loves each other right? i think one of the biggest reasons psychedelics are illegal is because they provoke free thinking, and the last thing our government wants is people who can think for themselves. They want sheep.

    End rant.

  • not much of a rant really!! just a general observation....which I agree with. Free thinking people usaully have a more compassionate sense of values. Happy wont fight wars.

  • YESS!!!

  • @wreckyourday WOW WOW WOW. I couldn't agree with you more, that's exactly what I say everytime I encourage use of them! hell yeah! :)

  • @wreckyourday That's EXACTLY what I've been trying to tell people about psychedelics and the government. Awesome comment.

  • @XBudBomberX Some people use it for the wrong reasons though unfortunately. They treat it as a drug to get "fucked up" on and I can't stand it. Those are the ones that keep it illegal for us.

  • @wreckyourday

    you got a good point

  • i love how leary get's the kids to understand him.

  • lol wtf is that thing at the end??? i want to see more!!!!!!!

  • @Cheuvin Yeah, what is that clip at the end from?

  • I love Timothy Leary, he's absolutely right about everything. No one should tell anyone how to run their body or mind. It's ridiculous how the government can tell us what we can do with ourselves. LSD is a beautiful experience, and if you're open enough to take it.. I suggest taking it. And Marijuana is a wonderful experience also. OPEN YOUR MIND.

  • @WharfRat44 Yea but there are bad effects if youre high 24/7 for several years. I smoked bud about 5 or 6 years almost nonstop and it really changes your mind and makes you depressed. Smoking is fine you use it in moderation. Its not good for a humanbeing being on some mind altering substance 24/7 for several years. You gotta clear your head once in a while

  • I love how leary seems to talk right to the audience to touch everyone who is paying attention

  • Someone needs to put up a video of an MRI scan of the brain on LSD.... What pretty colours we would see :)

  • ALEISTER CROWLEY devotee

he bring PAGANISM back in 60

  • actually paganism was well and thriving around the globe, always has been. Timothy Leary was just learning this himself. Having a living connection to other demensions attached to the body excited him, so it should.

  • NEW AGE

yes he was not the only one

but he and rock n roll culture twist all world generations into drug chamanic new age

  • I found this to be informative information and got to see a side of TL that I had not seen before. Thank Bob for youtube.

  • A lot better than those jackasses who demonize him.

  • Cool! Thanks!
