CPO ones are $40,000-$60,000. The SMG gearbox cars are going to cost more than than the 6 speed manual ones from a dealer. It's the other way around in private sales, though. There's a 2009 Coupe with a 6 speed and the 19'' wheel package for $47,000 at a local BMW dealer. As for new, they're still making E9X based M3's so it's still a spendy proposition.

@JDM370gt It's just the tuning and design of the motor. It's meant to produce it's peak power at the higher revs vs the low end. This is the kind of car that needs to be revved and driven hard to get the best out of it. That's why I prefer an MBZ because their V8s produce insane amounts of torque at low RPMs. This M3 must be hella fun though.

It's an oversquare bore/stroke ratio. That means the pistons don't travel as much up and down as they are wide, reducing the amount energy that can be put into the crank shaft during their stroke. Being a smaller engine, it also means there's simply less material to make torque with, anyway. The effect of an oversquare set-up is exaggerated in F1 engines. The current 2.4 litre V8's crank out 750+ HP but only 250 or so lb.ft at about the same RPM as where the HP is highest.

@Rawtrigga I live in Cali as well, LA. To let you know a little bit about M3's, the e46 M3 was made from 2001-2006. The e92 M3 was made from 2008-2012. You will not find no "07" M3 for 30k! And if you mean the "08" for 30k as well you are mistaken unless that vehicle has lots of miles and has a salvage title.

The button on which you pointed out on 14:17 is actually the stop&start system. When coming to a full stop, the engine will be switched off until you release the footbrake. The recirculating button for the climate control is between the fan speed button and the passenger temprature control, providing an automatic or manual mode.
