I heard a rumor that there used to be another intelligent life form on earth but we killed them. Haven't chased down the source yet. But I would think that there's no reason intelligent life couldn't grow on earth, instead of looking for it in space, we should try to encourage it on Earth. To travel 600 light years, you wouldn't travel in linear miles ie you wouldn't move every single mile in a rocket. Instead you would distort time & gravity & bend space towards you. You would effectively stay where you are & bring space towards you using an antimatter reactor. Read up on people like Bob Lazar (ex NASA scientist).
