  • Great post once again Mark. You get such a great sound from your 78s. How do you keep them in such great condition? Do you clean them or something?

  • Thanks, Don. :)

Yeah, I clean my records before each play and treat 'em with the best set of kid gloves I have. ;) A Grado Prestige Series 78E cartridge w/3 mil elliptical needle helps a lot as well.

  • Nice, nice nice! I have some great early Teagarden stuff with Gene Krupa.

  • Oh man, that's heaven.

Make sure to check the Charleston Chasers cut I have here on the channel - Tea's in perfect form & Gene talks real good. From 1931. :)

  • What an end to 2009....Thank you Mark...great stuff...I think we're in for some real good music in 2010....A good New Year to you from Scotland.

    John.

  • You bet, John - same to you. :)

  • Man I really need to setup my AM broadcaster again for the old floor-standing Zenith, but this time, connected to the PC, instead of the CD/DVD player. You've practically built up a radio station's worth of great music here!

  • Thanks, Bob. :)

I only WISH I had a radio station's stash worth of 78's. LOL!

  • Mark

    Great record

    Richard

  • Such a clean recording! I love the dimension the banjo adds! You mention the original release was on okeh...is this a re-issue? Gene Krupa at that age performing...wow! Nice find Mark!

  • Yep. This & the othe 3 cuts from this set are indeed 1937 re-issues - BUT, they used the original stampers for these pressings, so, aside from the label, it's like having the original releases, full ambience and everything!

  • Very sweet! They sound awesome! You truly are the Groove Juice man!

  • Thanks, guy. :)

  • I'm amazed at the quality of these 78's... I had no idea people still have them kicking around, and in this good condition! Thanks for posting, as always!

  • You bet, guy. :)

Clean pressings make all the difference - and these two UHCA re-issues from 1937 still had the benefit of being pressed with the original stampers to boot!
