Can somebody please tell me WHY this piece is so special?? Can you show it where exactly by time line in this vid this is so special? For me it sounds so bored.
@bifi34 One factor in that song is special to say the least, is how Mozart uses the harmony, innovating on standards that were not allowed at this time, but as Mozart called it as "Fantasia" can write more freely, applying his new concepts.
@bifi34 The first thing is the tone in which he writes, the armature is in C major but the whole is written in C minor, he wrotte all accidents (it gives you more possibilities for his harmonic practices)
Use of enharmonic modulations and he use of logical sequences, and then surprise us with an unexpected harmony. (May not sound so different to the XXI century ears :D )
it is nice to read all these professional comments and realize how little you know about music, to me it is incredibly beautiful music with a basic understanding that a person needs very quick fingers to play it ;)
@y1g1tcn Agree with you except the fact that I really enjoy he is not using the pedal in piu allegro (?) section as most of pianists do which absolutely ruins the musical effect that whas intended there I suppose and that is audible only with no pedal.
I only would prefer it maybe a quarter faster and this section, the climax of the piece, would be perfect which makes a big plus for overall performance (that is really bach-like and extremely gould-specific).
@joshievasbinder I agree with you ! He is one & only THE MASTER that made each performance through "audible X Ray..." as well as his imagination & grace on interpretations are so rare , unique & unequalled to ANY artist...

I'm not too sure about this interpretation but I enjoyed it, questionable in some passages otherwise great

it is not respectful to the text. and awful for me because too much stacato and the tempo is incorrect sometimes such slow that i forgat the melody.

@y1g1tcn I agree with you. This interpretation is cold... Very disappointing.

forse i tempi delle varie parti sono troppo poco messi in relazione fra di loro ....o troppo lenti o troppo veloci?

forse, ma a Glenn Gould piaceva interpretare in modo molto eccentrico!
è anche per questo che è dovuta la sua fama!
