I like everything about this tank, I want to duplicate this!! I've never had live plants, how do they help to maintain the tank? Or do they require further maintenence themselves?
That is a lot of convicts, how many are you guessing are in there. When they breed, how many babies come and how often? The reason i am asking is because i want to breed them and you seem to have it going well for you
@lehockj755- you know convicts are egg layers right? they are not live bearer like guppies and platies.. but they do breed very easy.. my convicts breed every 3 months... (usually in the summer time)
Are you sure it's not two males? The size of the tank also matters as the males are very territorial. It might also be that the male is ready to mate but doesn't find the female a suitable partner because in part of the mating ritual they lock mouths and 'fight'; if she doesn't put up a good one then she's not deemed suitable. Could be a lot of reasons but hard to tell without a proper description or video of the tank. Hope the situation's improved!
that is cool and I am not an expert by no means but did they kill the babies? I have one convict and thinking of getting another... but my tank is filled with all cichlids (apart of the family) but most all different... heck they will probibly kill the convict that i want...
haha good luck getting rid of them they are so hard to get rid of....and they breed like crazy once u get rid of those the parents will breed again or if u get rid of the parents then the kids will breed...lol...good luck...its so hard trying to get rid of mine and they keep breeding every time i finish getting rid of the first batch...lol...good luck

in this video i guess they are 1.5month old, but i dont know much about convict's grow rates
