@steven4rmnewyork It's worth mentioning that even after dropping 20k into a Mustang and beating a GTR (could likely be done with 10k or less, actually), one still wouldn't have spent the MSRP of that GTR, and will have a much more practical car. I don't know what experience you have with GTRs, but they aren't the day-to-day grocery-getters some would have you believe.

The Mustang is probably the best built example of its breed in the country currently while the GTR was debuted in this video. With more development the GTR may come out the victor next time. The talent surrounding this GTR trumps anything you're capable of and in fact if you watched the second part of the video the GTR defeats the Mustang. @CHASNME the gtr sold here in my town for something like 82 thousand. and it also placed last in a super car challenge. dont get me wrong i love nissans (im also a ford fan) but that gtr was only made for people that want a fast car and have lots of money. and its really not that fast. and a V6.... seriously.... every skyline made came with an inline 6. i dont see why they wouldnt have stuck with that. so dumb on their part. anyways i hate the new GTR ;)

I thought the GT-R was 3400lbs. The Mustang is 3250lbs. with the driver and fuel. Its great to watch the footage seeing the strong points of both.  The GT-R is a demon on the brakes, just insane. Both of you can drive, although Darrell has much less experience. We're all fans of the GT-R. But the footage has been great proof of what a live axle Mustang (properly setup) can do when compared to the current pinnacle of technology.

Really? And where did this happen? It was a clean race and the better driver won. Yes traffic came into play for both drivers. I wouldn't bash on drivers just because your pride was hurt watching the mustang lose to a brand new built GT-R racecar that has only been on track one time prior to this race.

Its a 98 Mustang with 04 Cobra bodywork and full Griggs suspension. Its got a 550RWHP 358ci NA V8. Some of the best racing we've ever seen.

I got love for both cars. Props for actually putting a GTR on track- thats ballin! Both cars are stupid fast- the only thing my mind keeps circling around....whats a GTR cost? 90k? Whats a Mustang, 25k? Even with 10k in suspension and brakes, another 10k in motor....that'd only be...55k? Still about half the price of the modded GTR?

I think the Stang held its own in the corners pretty well considering they're still a live or solid rear axle. No doubt though, the GT-R reeled it in in the corners.

Your calling a 335 Hoosier R6 a "DOT" tire. Yes the R100 slick that I was on are faster by about 2 second, but we out weighed the Mustang by 650 lbs, and had at least 150 less HP.

R6 vs R100. In a 3 mile track thats closer to 5-7 seconds. Thats the beauty of racing, exactly how your cars are, makes then even. Thats for some good racing.

How much horsepower does the GTR have? This Mustang is putting down 500rwhp (according to the specs I'm reading online). Regardless, it is clear that the GTR is heavier and down on power. It more than brought the fight to a much more powerful car. Keep rocking on guys. Looks like you are doing great work. Glad to see how the GTR community is evolving. :)
