  • @160calories did it myself. had the ecu chipped and tuned by a local guy. was running a p28 on a street tune. was pretty solid, also had to upgrade the drivers side mount after the swap because the stock dx one blew out, due to the power from the gsr. lol

    its the stock gauge cluster as the car was a dx hatchback. car was stolen before i got a chance to do the interior.

    and the exhaust wasnt anything special just straight 2.5 from the header back to a vibrant racing muffler.

  • no vtec was engaged...due to a dx model you have to run the vtec wires in order vtec to engage... if it would of had vtec that gsr would of pulled harder...

  • gsr`s b18c1 is perfectequivalent to continental b18c4. This is superb engine though american gearbox is shorter than s9b

  • Make sure you do all bolt ons, 3 inch intake, tri-y header with 2.5 inch collector, sk2 i/m, type r t/b with type r cams and tune. You should be happy. I'm doing just that with my gsr in my 96 ex coupe, waiting to put in very soon. I'll keep you updated.

  • I just got a 94 civic dx. I got about 3K to get a GSR motor which i'm gonna have full skunk works done to it. Plus port and polish the head with a 3 angle valve job.

    My local shop RC autoworks has one doing 12's all motor. Like mine will be. You know what's stupid? JEALOUS COCKSUCKERS who talk shit because they don't have one...

    i was just wondering if it has power steering because i havent driven it yet.

    and i really hate the car to be honest

  • mine had power steering before the swap. but i took it out and threw a manual rack in there instead.

  • so does that mean it doesnt have power steering?

  • unless someone took it out the DX should have power steering. just check for the power steering pump on the right hand side of the motor. and if you dont know what that is check for the power steering reservoir (w/ the red cap) also located on the right side of the engine bay right behind the headlight.

    that skunk2 manifold do anything for you? im using a polished itr now and thought about getting one but im not sure if its worth the cost.

  • honestly the ride wasnt as bad as this video leads you to believe. it was a much better ride than when i had skunk2 springs on stock struts.

    as for the manifold, i def got a boost in power from not having the dual stage in there and it was mostly low end. def worth the $150 i paid for it.

    the rest of the stuff were mods for the car itself.

  • Nice powershift. Looks like you solved the torque issue that all stock civics tend to suffer from, quite well. How'd you mount the camera? It just fell right back into place after you picked up the pace again.

  • haha yea this thing hauled. i really miss it from time to time.

    as for the mount i just used a tripod i have for my SLR camera and i just mounted a point and shoot onto it. i extended two of the legs onto the floor of the rear of the car and one leg onto the rear seat. it served its purpose :lol:

  • been driving the same gsr for years. by that time i could do it just by sound but i usually just went by the mph when i was racing.

  • initially when i bought the motor it was $1800 complete swap. but that was when i had a 93 coupe. and the motor had diff tranny's and what not.

    but overall i would say w/ the parts that were on it at the time it got stolen i spent around $3000+ when all was said and done. (chip, tune, intake manifold, bolt ons....)

  • about the loud crossover thing, that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard on youtube. YI think you got that backwards buddy. If vtec isn't working correctly, then you won't hear. Try some research before you make such claims. I suggest a little time on honda-tech.

    but seriously a loud cross over is not suppoed to exist. vtec on a basically stock motor you will not hear, even on a lightly tuned car with proper tuning you wont hear it.

    the only time you hear vtec is on shitty tunes or cars that are faaar high output than that or a basically stock motor.

    watch any best-motoring w/ a stock ctr or itr...you wont hear shit.

    vtec is suppoed to create a smooth torque/power curve not...nopower, no power...VTEC...POWER!!!

  • okay right now you are contradicting yourself. Saying you won't hear the vtec crossover, but then saying it shouldn't be that loud. Obviously, if you have a stock motor you won't have an aggressive tone when vtec engages. But there is a definitive change in the exhaust tone. Thereby being able to hear "vtec" engaging. The videos that you sggest I look at don't support your claims at all.

  • I'd really love to speak with the people that told you the only time you can hear vtec is on built motors or people with shitty tunes or when vtec isn't working properly. I never said there would be a "loud" crossover, but I am saying that you should hear the crossover. Saying that if your car is running properly you shouldn't hear vtec is just incorrect.

  • yea there is no doubt that you will hear it. im not debating that i was just saying that with mild bolt ons and a tune you should have a smooth crossover. you only get that aggressive crossover when you get aggressive cams in the car

  • well i was running a stock gsr w/ skunk2 intake manifold, intake, header and full exhaust.

    what i did was just run an obd-2 to obd-1 step-down, a chipped p28 ecu and i had a local guy that owns a shop out on longisland do a street tune for me.

    car pulled HARD
