first off I'd like to say, if thsi is your first try, looken DAMN good to me (love the Face:D ). I'm seriously thinking about it myself (cuz I'm poor). I Only have one question... what are you gonna make the ball joints out of ( I imagine the clay would rub & wear down quick)?
@Talki200 Thank you! <3 Actually I'm planning to cast this in resin, so the joints rubbing wouldn't be an issue. But... I've seen people use wooden balls or marbles they have carved holes into. I have seen all-clay dolls though with clay joints. You have to seal the clay somehow anyway, if you plan to paint the skin tone on. I guess you'd have to seal it with a good laquer/polyerthane or something. Also, being delicate with the dolls is an issue in the first place :)
@KafaeLatte That's Great! i thought Resin was really expensive tho. how ya gonna do it? (oops, sorry.. I know I should be patient *sheepesh look*) I can't wait to see the next vid :D
Hey Kafae! There is another question.... Do you know how to make the wigs for the dolls? Or where may I buy the materials to do the hair? I have a couple of ideas on how to make the wig but the problem is the material. It would really help me to know what I can use. Thank you. Good video btw
Kafae! I have a question. ^^ First, thank you much for your tutorial, I have a BJD head done^^ Do you use some spray or somthing to cover the clay model? because water wasches it -.- even I got hard.
@261469933 You're welcome and um... You're asking if I use a spray on the clay? I did re-wet it sometimes to keep it from drying, but I finished the head in 3 hours nonstop. It did start to crack, but when I cut into it for the eyes that problem was fixed.
@KafaeLatte I did it too :) but this clay has to be always placed away from water? i just mind to know how we can keep the model being hard permanently ^^
@261469933 Oh I see what you mean... Well If it is not a clay you have to bake in an oven then it may be susceptible to water. I want to resin cast mine, so I didn't worry about that. If you want your clay to last I would suggest sealing it with a polyethylene.
@KafaeLatte I use air dry clay like you too. It dries quite quickly.Thank you much for your explaining. I will put some photos of my work onto internet and tel you to see them okay? I have my own blog. Thank you again Kafae
@laylaunicorn Yeah, I think I've seen some examples where people made dolls with sculpy. I chose not to use it because I didn't want to rist it cracking in the oven after all that work sculpting, and it's consistency is hard to manage sometimes. I don't like how oily it is, and I think LaDoll/Premier gets much better detail. It's oily too, but less so. I'm not sure though, you could try a test sculpt and if it works for you then it works :)
@laylaunicorn Awww. I'm sorry to hear that. It's okay, my first BJD fell apart too! I tried making that when I was 18. I know you'll get it. It was probably a problem with the clay too :) Where are pictures?
@laylaunicorn Correction: Yes. People use Super sculpy, though, not normal sculpy. You won't get the same amount of strength and detail with regular sculpy. :)
@jrockluv Well, pretty much. I'll make a video for the other parts when I make them. I bought my own MSD and it should arrive in mid december, so I'm waiting till I have a reference. :)
About how much of each "ingredient" would you suggest? :3
