God damn I haven't played my violin in awhile and my E string peg is stuck and wont go any higher T.T the E is so low it's killing me, too low for the fine tuners
Please help me, I buy a violin and I want to learn how I play it, in reality I teach myself, And It's going good, but how if I could have the same sound of Violins 1 et 2 of an orchestra (Symphony) How Can I get this sound please, help me,
you are just playing you e string and its not in tune i dont know wether its your audio or what but thats not in tune and those are not tuning exercises BECUASE YOU ARE NOT TUNNING YOUR VIOLIN YOUR JUST PLAYING IT
Maybe it's the quality of the recording, but her E is incredibly off. If you really want to learn how to tune, buy a tuner and tune the A string to your correct pitch. Then play a double stop with open A and E and tune accordingly.
@unfoldingart Eventually your ear will learn what an A should sound like. And then tuning from there is fairly easy. Double stop A+E, A+D, D+G. It takes a while for your ear to adjust, though.
I tuned my strings to this lady, since I lost my tuner (haven't even picked up my violin for almost 2 years). When I did this string, the wooden thing that the strings rest on just before the part where the fine tuners are, well, it literally flew off my violin with a huge clap noise... And now I don't want to tune it to hers cause it creaks and sounds like the string will snap whenever I get close to her tuning. Can anyone tell me if anything's wrong with my violin? It wasn't cheap either...
@Xsilord What I'd do, is get a pitch pipe and tune it with that. You can search a video where they tune E with a pitch pipe, that way you hear the correct tone and you go for it. Now, the bridge is that wood thing you said. You have to be sure it is placed correctly and that its not bent sideways, it has to be straight. That's pretty much the best I can do for you, hope you get it right.
Forget about the "nice ringing sound" for a second. People, people! Listen! Don't go to youtube to tune you instrument, buy a tuner! They can range from $5 to $100! You can go to a music store to get one or look on ebay etc. It would be even better to get a REAL teacher, this lady is not effective so find something better!!!
Haha!! That's what happened to my teacher. She was tuning her violin, but she wasnt that experienced yet, and so the sting popped off and cut her eye. Ouch!!
The important thing is the sound of the notes... tuning isn't rocket science. If you don't know how to change the sound by twisting the tuners... get lessons! seriously!
You know, if you can't tune by ear, then there's these things called tuners. You don't need a video to go out and buy one. If you cannot tune by ear, that's your other option. Learn to tune by ear though, and life will be easier on you.
the weather can affect your instrument, as it is made out of wood. Just like anything else, the hot and cold and the humidity will swell or shrink the wood minute amounts, and sometimes pegs come loose, or get way way too tight. I happen to have had them be too tight, but sometimes that's a good thing as it nearly never goes out of tune However, pushing it in while turning is one way, or go to a store where they sell violins or offer lessons, they will probs tune for free
@Mymadness88 dont. In some songs you play so hard they might break anyway. You can play had as you possibly can and they shouldnt break for a long time
3 years ago, the first day i got my violin and brought it home, i stupidly tried to tune it and popped off the G string. Now i play double bass.

@rasykchupo the violins 1 and 2 exist of a group of violins, which sounds fuller than only one violin. So...

If you are afraid to break the strings just use the fine tuners unless it's really bad and super out of tune.

i need help tuning my e string on my violin it is slightly flat. should I move the fine tuners to left or right. i have know clue. help!
LEEISHWANA 2 years ago
turn it, play it. If it gets flatter you went the wrong way. If it gets sharper, you went the right way. Or buy a tuner, if you are tone deaf.
Gilliebeany 2 years ago
normally, to tighten it you turn it clockwise. to loosen it, you turn it counterclockwise...
