I have this too, and it's a pain in the ......(name the area). I just learned about this a few months ago, and I am sooooo glad I did. Like DuenasMom stated I' to have gone for groceries and had to almost wait till my hands thawed out to pay. (The frozen food isles are the devil! LOL) I dread the summer and folks/stores blasting the AC too. I'm usually the suspicious looking person that's overdressed for the warmer seasons.
Thanks to the discovery and diagnosis I feel normal.
I have it too :( I've had it since 15 I'm now 23... I have been trying to work out what causes it back then (obviously not mercury as too many young ppl have raynaulds and mercury fillings stopped years ago).... I recall doing a lot of sport in very very cold weather when I was 14-16 and generally only in shorts and t-shirt, I then noticed my hands started to go funny colours.... Now my hands are just always cold or sweaty and generally red... DOES ANY ONE HAVE A SIMILAR STORY?
I have had Raynauds disease for 12 years. I have it in my hands and my feet. They are always a dark color blue and in extreme temperatures I too form pink/ orange blotches. In the winter my hands become so swollen with blisters to the point where I cannot move or do anything. It is so uncomfortable and embarrassing as well!
I have severe Raynaud's Syndrome + it really sucks! I live in So.Cali. + you'd think the mild/warm climate wouldn't affect me,but it does! I can even be at the beach in the summer + even a passing breeze will cause my fingers 2 turn white + go numb and hurt. Especially WORST are cold mornings and being in cold grocery stores... By the time I go 2 pay 4 stuff I can't even get my debit card outta my wallet cuz of painful, numb, white fingers! They go from white to purple to red when thawing!!
My son 15yrs and justed find out May 09 the his has this dieasae Raynud's. It justed in his hands and arms. Last wreater it got more purple and red in his arms and hands. We went columbus, ohio and they help us what us wrong with him. they said he justed have phenomenon only so far. why he has we donot now why. thanks. he doesnot say he has plain with it but hes right knee hurts. thanks
It's not like our hands are cold like most people. It is a disease of the sympathetic nervous system. So the vascular system has microspasms and the skin doesn't respond naturally. It usually occurs in the extremities, hands, feet, nose, ears, sometimes lips and tougne. It can be anywhere from mild to severe and can be a nuisance all the way up to extremely painful.
At one point I was give Vicodin to mange the pain so it is a serious disease.
I have Raynaud's I live in Massachusetts, I've had it for 17 years and in the past 2years I've noticed my fingernails are turning bluish sometimes. Try to keep your hands warm put them in your pockets always keep gloves in your car even in the summer. Be careful in the winter your fingers are so prone to frostbite it can happen so fast. I hope and pray that someday they will find a cure. God Bless you all!!!
i have it too. i live in Greece and since highschool i experienced in a high degree this phenomenon but i didn't give so much attention because i thought that it was just the cold winter days but it turned out to get worse with the years and now my nails on my hands and toes turn out in a purple color. it's so weird, i always feel so cold and whenever i say this everybody looks at me like i'm a weirdo or something
I turn three different colors and get orange spots all over my body, and my skin gets itchy. It's interesting because I don't feel cold so much as feel it in my veins and heart. Exercise is the only way...
I had it so bad when I was 13. I am now 25 and my feet always feel cold and stiff almost like they are dying off. I want a foot spa to shove them in, nice warm water
