  • There isn't a song sung by Neil Diamond that doesn't bring great memories to me; perhaps, not when he made the albums, but later when I started to listen to his verse - in all songs. His heart is so full; he is a woman's man! No man can be a woman's man without lessons in these words. Woman are strong fantastic creatures, but fragile and thus freightful like a bird. We are a curious creation; but, You Tube, keep reminding me why I breathe. Thank You. KittyKelso

  • I like the way he does the chorus but not the verses.

  • I'm here because of the film 'Truly Madly Deeply starring Alan Rickman

  • truly madly deeply♥

  • this is actually very good version - I can understand each word better then the original. Im still sentimental and partial to the Walker Brothers take, but Neil just knows how to make each song his own. Very talented man!

  • A diamond, a rare jewel...

  • Neil's the man!!!

  • Nah. Neil missed it here.

  • I love Neil. Solitary man, Brooklyn roads, etc....this is better sung by the Walker Brothers.

  • @Treaty4 I only know this version & it's perfect & I love it!:)

  • HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY

  • Amazing thing about Neil is that he does "cover" songs better than so many other performers, sort of like a good actor being able to read from the phone book and make you want to listen, Neil has a unique way of making the songs "his", even though penned by a fellow songwriter...great job!

  • This doesn't make me think of zombies.

  • @IDBTitanosaurus I first heard this song back in the days of myspace 5 years ago.

  • This is borderline William Shatner. Good God! Death - where is thy sting?

  • I've never heard Neil's version of this song and I like it. The photos are fabulous! Thanks for posting!

  • I love Neil Diamond but have you hear Air Supply aka Russell Hitchcock cover this...he knocks it out of the park!!!!!!!

  • I think he did a good job on this one

  • Actually, I think that Frankie Valley(& the 4 seasons?) recorded the song 1st, earlier in the same year as the Walker Bros, 1965. All these years, I thought that the Righteous Bros sang this song, but I haven't found it anywhere. It's uncommon to see Neil Diamond doing a cover song, usually other folks, even Deep Purple, are covering his songs. He must like the song.

  • Frankie Valley was the first to sing it but it was not written by him.

Then it was covered by the Walker Bros.

You are correct, they do sound like the Righteous Brothers but we both know the truth.

Cher did a cover of this song that ended up on the X-Files.

    Neil Diamond doing a cover?

Holy Smokes, that guy loves himself more than Jesus, why would he cover another singers song?

    Still, good version.

The Walker Bros has the best version though.

  • @MrJComedyNights

Neil Diamond used to be one of my favourites. I even saw him live once. But wow, what an arrogant twit he became. I'm sure if he covers a hit, it is only to try and better the guys who made it famous first time around...

  • @MrJComedyNights correct

  • Did Neil work at the Brill bldg with Bob and bob, anyone know?

  • The original was done by Frankie Valli And The 4 Seasons, written by Bob Gaudio with Bob Crewe their Producer assisting on the lyrics.

To compare Neil Diamond with a no-talent hack like Keane is an insult on epic porprtions

  • I would not call Kean no talent, however I like Neil Diamond much more than Keane. Neil is just timelessly classic.

  • Me encanta esta version! Como pasa el tiempo!

  • I like Neil's cover of the song. Slightly slower than the Walker Brother's original. Neil really captures the mood of this classic song. The sun will, of course, shine again. It just feels that it won't sometimes.

  • @shilo507 Sorry but Neil really didn't hit home on this one.

  • @shilo507 - the walker brother's got the song from Bob Crewe who wrote the song for his band the Four Season.

  • @shilo507 Not to be "that guy," but the original version is by Frankie Valli.

  • other have sung it much better---as Walker Brothers

  • Thanks for the lovely video and pics of the Prince. Today is his birthday. Happiest of days for you Mr. D.
