As someone who self-defines as a feminist, I've often wondered why focus is placed on equal outcome. It's not an issue that there isn't 50% male and 50% female entrants and graduates from medical school. That, to me, doesn't matter.

Equality exists but they want more than men and not be equal. 2. custody cases are indeed all different, so let's treat them as such. and not as it's today, default for women (as is alimony). don't have rates for this but you can google them yourself (tip: use google scholar).

Yeah but you have to admit hypocrisy is needed for change to occour. Look at northern Ireland, the police force in the past was known for being protestant friendly. So catholics never wanted to, or were encouraged as the physical abuse and prejudice was aimed to their community (police violence). Yet they introduced catholic "favouring" to bring equality and brought peace to northern ireland that has been quite succesful, is it really a bad thing? Hypocrisy or not it works - fact!

You do realise that hyporisy of equality is needed to ensure equality when institutionalised discrimmination had occoured for years. For example "Catholics need not apply" was common with vacant jobs and employers asked what school you went to ( and therefore would know if your catholic), gerrymandering, etc
One would think that it would have been more effective for people to rally against religion being a concern for your employment to begin with and perhaps Ireland would benifite more by from having the either church's affairs be seperate from the state to begin with. But that's just me.

it sounds like a good idea, but employers will always know what religion the employee is. it's very easy to tell whether someone is protestant or catholic just by their name, or the school they attended. and if it's a protestant employer and a catholic employee, or vice versa, then discrimination may happen.

Im saying that it could work for females in the workplace. firstly, the police force in NI was DOMINATED by protestants and there was a CULTURE in NI in which most catholics would never consider joining the police. thus, "positive discrimination" was needed to get the ball rolling and encourage more catholics to join the police. this is not the case for men and women, as we don't have a CULTURE which says only men, or women, can do a certain job ( but there are a few exceptions, such as nursing etc.)

In many cases, they are a 'layman's terms' characterization of actual feminist theory...for example the idea that 'oppressed classes' are incapable of sexism/racism as a class. Also, that any violence done men by women is 'empowering' in nature (as in, 'smashing the Patriarchy').

The fact is that court decisions on custody of children are disproportionately skewed towards the mother. If it was the case that the fathers didn't really want custody, the court wouldn't be required to make a decision.

on a side note, there are actually more women who study medicine in some countries anyway, such as the UK. also, in canada, entry requirements into medicine for white females are lower than that for asian males, because white females don't perform as well academically as asian males, so lower entry standards are set for them, just to satisfy equality. so is the bias really in favour of women to begin with?

My law school has done affirmative action for women for decades judging equality by end numbers, but NONE of the many programs in the university that now have more women than men have any programs for men. Men "just don't want to go to college."
Could you provide a citation for your statement that feminists continue to support maternal custody? I am a feminist and a very intrinsic part of my identity as such is that all genders should be treated equally, including custodial rights. I feel as though you are misunderstanding feminism to be about female superiority when in reality it is about basic equal rights.

Yeah but you have to admit hypocrisy is needed for change to occour. Look at northern Ireland, the police force in the past was known for being protestant friendly. So catholics never wanted to, or were encouraged as the physical abuse and prejudice was aimed to their community (police violence). Yet they introduced catholic "favouring" to bring equality and brought peace to northern ireland that has been quite succesful, is it really a bad thing? Hypocrisy or not it works - fact!

You do realise that hyporisy of equality is needed to ensure equality when institutionalised discrimmination had occoured for years. For example "Catholics need not apply" was common with vacant jobs and employers asked what school you went to ( and therefore would know if your catholic), gerrymandering, etc

it sounds like a good idea, but employers will always know what religion the employee is. it's very easy to tell whether someone is protestant or catholic just by their name, or the school they attended. and if it's a protestant employer and a catholic employee, or vice versa, then discrimination may happen.

Im saying that it could work for females in the workplace. firstly, the police force in NI was DOMINATED by protestants and there was a CULTURE in NI in which most catholics would never consider joining the police. thus, "positive discrimination" was needed to get the ball rolling and encourage more catholics to join the police. this is not the case for men and women, as we don't have a CULTURE which says only men, or women, can do a certain job ( but there are a few exceptions, such as nursing etc.)
