that is great, briliant i really want to train my dog to do that also, at the moment my dog knows basic commands like sit, come etc and when i take her hunting she zig zags through the bush but i want to learn how to control her with a whistle like you do with your dog but i dont really know how to train her to do so. If possible do you have any any advice, any books or dvds that you might recommend.
@Ellsmore101 In NSW, Victoria, and QLD there are sporting spaniel clubs where we train and use spaniels in the field. I am in the sporting spaniel club of nsw and they are excellent and can help train your dog to this kind of standard or higher.
This is a working English Springer; her job is to find game (chiefly birds, but rabbits too)and flush it for the gun.
In the field she needs to be instructed and told where to hunt, when to sit / stop, and when to turn. All that is done using a whistle. One peep means "sit", two means "turn", and a trill means "come to me". All my dogs including the Labradors are trained that way.
She looks like a nice little girl. I love the enthusiasm and zest for life. Thanks for the vid.
