  • everyone of these guys tutorials he never ever tells u where get same samples he uses!?!?! how can u lern from a tutorial if u got the wrong samples??? like makin a jigsaw without the same pieces!!!

  • this didn't actually teach me how to make a drum loop from scratch?

  • @TheBeachedSloth If you have .wav loops, you can turn them into .drex2 files using ReCycle, or just play the .wav's in ReDrum or Kong Drum Designer. If you don't have recycle, you can write the loops you want using Reason (in one of the drum programmers) and render it to a .wav and then play it in ReDrum or KDD in Reason. There's really no easy way to do it from scratch, but I'm sure you could find some nice loops online for free if you just search around. Hope this helps. =]

  • so basically i googled how to make a beat for dnb and learned how to in a minute, and sounded just like yours. but every other tutorial after this is great<3

  • your tutorials are shit... i've been using FL Studio for about 3 years now and I'm wanting something where I can use my full potential, if it is possible could you make a tutorial which is a bit easier for me to follow as I'm struggling to keep up. I've only been using Reason for like 2 days now.

  • @2k6liam2k61 mate if u find one let me no please ill do the same

  • @2k6liam2k61 you have been using Reason for only 2 days yet you bitch about his tutorials being shit because you can't catch up? Shut the fuck up.

  • @123scat123 allow your hype u melt... thinkin ur a big man over youtube

  • @2k6liam2k61 i was fuucking trying to help you kunt

go destroy some cock you fucking gay kunt

  • @123scat123 anyway.... take your gas somewhere else. sweeet

  • @2k6liam2k61 You're retarded, go die in a fire. You have no talent. Bye.

  • You could just buy the reason file, only £3.00 and you get all of his other patches that you can tweak if you really like them.

  • how do you make a loop from scratch? can you upload a video on how you made the one you used?

  • how should i get my beat without the break and high pass loops?

  • so much comment replies

  • @ShopSongs *many

  • Dude your mouse clicks are SO loud

  • NO ENTIENDO NIUNA WEA CONCHETUMAREEE

  • Gah are you sponsored by primeloops or something?

  • you a fucking faggot cunt, tell us how to make a fucking beat not how to use samples you prick

  • You're really fast. I had to pause the video like 40 times and it's still difficult to follow :D I'm TOTALLY new with this. My goal to create liquid drum and bass and maybe also chilled out dupstep :-) If you can give me any tips or other vids that can help me out with the most basic steps to begin with reason, please tell me :-)

Sorry for my English, i'm not a native English speaker :D

  • @MultiMarnix dupstep? >.>

  • where do i get good liquid samples from?

  • @SystemBIeed Try Primeloops Liquid Essentials i think its called... Beautiful samples and loops to slice there :)

  • @Magnifikate I don't want to sound like a cheap fucker, but that costs like 20$ and I don't feel like starting to invest money on something, that I don't know if I like to do for long time :/

(I got reason for free, from my father's office and I felt like trying to create something :] )

  • @MasijuPsn Well, there are plenty of free and amazing sample packs out there man :)

  • is there anyway u could link us to the samples u used? because ive followed this tutorial but cant get anywhere near the sound your getting. pleeasse?

  • hey dave, how about a tutorial on progressive house? deadmau5 style please

  • Comment removed

  • Logistics uses Reason :)

  • Although I use Recycle to use sampled breaks I didn't know you could gate like that with Re-drum! Nice tut ;D

  • still didn't teach me how to make a loop from scratch. i've looked at this around, 5 times now i'll say, and yet, still no way for me to learn from scratch, without downloading these loops, that i can't find at all.

  • @iKiZaaH It's Ekol. Ehm, I'll ask Dave if he still has them, as I don't. I'll see if I can get him to host them to post on this video.

    Ekol

  • @iKiZaaH agreed! should i make one?

  • @iKiZaaH Use your own loops man :)

    ekol

  • @BreakbeatNightmare Learn to read

  • @danwhittle Learn to fucking understand English. This is not a tutorial on how to make those loops. This is a tutorial on how to make a drum beat. The separate loops Dave talks about were nearly all loops I had downloaded myself; not created 'from scratch.' I tried to give this guy some actually useful advice and if you're not going to appreciate that or me helping Dave with this tutorial then fuck off - there is no use for your ungratefulness.

    Ekol.

  • @BreakbeatNightmare No, you're right, it isn't a tutorial on how to make loops, but that's irrelevant. Someone said this didn't teach him to make loops - which of course it didn't, as it isn't a tutorial for that, but then you told him to use his own loops, which clearly he wouldn't be able to do as he can't even create them, hence his reason for asking in the first place. Once again, kind sir, learn to read. And cry more, please. I love it.

  • @danwhittle You don't have to make your own loops. I meant download some breaks, or samples. Please learn how music production works before you start talking next time. Thank you. Mong.

    Ekol.

  • @BreakbeatNightmare Once again, that's irrelevant. He complained about not being taught how to make loops and you told him to use his own - which isn't what he wanted. If anyone is a mong, it's you my irritable friend. Also, don't talk to me about understanding English when you use grammar like a twelve year old. Now cry more, bitch!

  • @danwhittle His comment showed a great amount of ungratefulness. You have literally no idea what you're talking about. You admitted in your second reply that I was right; your only criticism being that I told him to use his own loops. If you knew anything about electronic music, you would know that that's a perfectly legitimate reply to his question. So stop talking about something you have no idea about. Me telling him to get his own loops is a competent reply to his question.

  • @iKiZaaH Thats why you learn learn and learn some more ;) Its not hard. Just do it one beat at a time and dont forget the ghost snares...

  • @Ex0rz oh i know now, i've gotten so much better

  • @iKiZaaH boyinaband(dot)com/2009/06/free-sample-pack-30-frickin-ace-drum-and-bass-samples/

  • @iKiZaaH danny byrd pack theres a free torrent i think too

  • @iKiZaaH Amen break bro

  • Nechtěl by někdo udělat Český překlad?

  • @mchimc 4 sorry

  • I love your voice xD Sooo much easier to listen to

  • I want that four bar break pal, how do i get it and the four bar hypast loop???

  • your voice is so annoying i cant bare to watch are you autistic or something

  • how do you use your samples on a mac.........?

  • Comment removed

  • Damn you can learn so many tips and practical advises just from one video! That is if you listen carefully....

  • Hey Dave! Was just wondering if you ever use logic pro because it's really hard to find step by step dubstep and dnb tutorials on youtube. Maybe Reason is better but I swear you can make mind blowing dnb/ dubstep on logic also! I'm just curious because logic is so fiddely to use.. Thanks for the help, regardless!

  • seriously guys logic is good but its the most fiddley peice of shit program to use, but making a full dnb or dubstep song is something that only a god can have time for.... Get Reason its so much more fun and user friendly and by the time you figure out how to make a good song on logic you would have made 10 on reason simple. OR if you want the best of both worlds just wait til dave brings out logic tutorials :D

  • @wwwboyinabandcom

When I put the drum loop onto the track it works fine for the first 4 bars, but when I try to copy it onto the next 4 bars after the first fill, it only plays the high passed part and not both of the drum loops at once. Do you know why?

  • hello there i was wondering how you made that drum beat sample please reply

  • can you post the sample pack? is not available in the site you linked

  • where can i get similar or the same samples?

  • Ekol is a Logic FANBOI!!!!

  • Fuck this, I'm doing my drums in FL

  • you guys never ever fail me !

  • I don't know if i cant handle another 6 days of this...

  • BONGOEFILL.

  • What program? :D

  • How do you put the break into redrum, it just opens the break for all the individual drum samples when i try?

  • Is there somewhere a liquid dnb tutorial for fl studio :) or a website where i can find it?? :)

  • Interesting video, very descriptive and informative. What is the all-time top 3 best professional music producing programs for making serious Liquid Drum n Bass and other music with a lot of rythme and flowing beats? Thanks a lot, post a reply for me here or message me, would much appreciate it. Looking to spend some money on only the best programs and toys.

  • @Captain420Canada I, personally, use Reaper. :)

    -Ekol

  • where can I download the sample pack for the drums you are using?

  • @melside You can't really download them, they're my own personal samples that I processed and sent Dave, sorry. :D

    -Ekol

  • beep

  • clicked 'like' as soon as the robot voice happened, but now im afraid its going to annoy me thorugh the rest of the 7 days :p

  • What is the software u use in your tuto??? xD

  • @matatudoquepoder reason

  • Comment removed

  • what is program name?

  • what programme is this

  • @iTzSlaiTzZx Reason

  • plz upload the samples i cant find them anywhere

  • you sound like R2 D2 ...LMAO!!!

  • 10x, 10x a lot!

  • Can you please upload somewhere, or in the description the samples you used as a patch or separate?

I seem to be having a hard time finding them :c Please?

If not, then I'll just try to find them myself, or find something that sounds similar to that.

  • when you said hi did you run that in a filter

  • wow, so you changed you philosophy from "lets make the song sound cool without a mastering suite and then with a mastering suite it will sound awesome" to "let's make the song with the mastering suite on so we hear in real time what it sound like"?

    it's good to be flexible ; )

  • @elwhiskey Nope, I still bypass the mastering suite in this one :)

  • @wwwboyinabandcom i want to bludgeon your cunt face in

  • @elwhiskey Hello, My loop still stops even though i but it to sqaure wave :(

  • I didnt learn anything...I thought you were going to make it, not use someone elses samples...

I didnt know how to make a liquid DnB beat before watching that, and i still dont. The only that tutorial was helpful for, are people that dont know how to use reason and find it hard to download sounds, and play them in reason...

  • @phatboygeo I feel the same way. I want to learn how to make a cool beat but using loops is just cheating

  • @SimageDNB I made a beat after listening to the loops slowed down.....Ill show you where to put stuff on redrum if you want a tutorial for how to make a Liquid DnB beat.

  • @phatboygeo that'd be great thx. My beats still don't sound that Liquid :)

  • Wicked! An oldskool Jungle tutorial would be sick!

  • hey great vid have i cant find theres dnb samples for this vid on ur site :( heeeeellllllppppppp lol u got sum sick videos please help

  • Wasn't that my point? Any idiot knows how to download a few loops and put a few extra hits on top. What did you teach here? You might as well have said make a beat yourself then come back tomorrow for the next bit.

  • @oo00sadmachines00oo Search for Sub focus and xample drum and bass tutorial, you should get a couple of tutorials from actual artists who have tunes released and then when you have watched them and realise that that is how about %90 of drum and bass artists make a beat come back and grovel with an apology to dave lol.

  • @robertgisthebest Haha, cheers for pointing that out - While this tutorial has less steps than most, it's 'cause I was hilighting Ekol's ethos that sample selection is key.

You can make the beats yourself from scratch (check my previous 7 day song DnB tutorials for examples on how to do so) but most producers do opt for the layered loop approach.

I think the use of this tutorial is in what I *say* more than what I *do* for a change.

  • @wwwboyinabandcom I've watched all your video's their excellent keep up the good work!.

  • where did you get those kick and snare samples from?

  • Bongophilia

  • WOW, I would never have thought to chuck down loops with an basic sequence on top. I learned so much here today, especially as the same loops were easy to find and d'load to allow me to copy the vid!!!!

  • @oo00sadmachines00oo I know, right? You learn so much more by copying a tutorial exactly than if you were to use some common sense and Google "free drum and bass loops" and actually have to *think* when you were making the music!

I hope no-one thinks of this tutorial as a starting point with some useful tips to expand on with their own ideas!

  • hey dave any chance at a future point of you showing us how the breaks were made from old funk breaks? like the processing and resequencing?

  • @chewydeejay Well, I made the drums for the tutorial, so I hope I can help you a bit on that one. The high pass break was made from a funk break called the Do The Do break. I added a nice short reverb and high passed it with an EQ, For the other breaks, I used one called the Sandy break for the shuffle, and the others are my own. ;) But all of the drums are going through some parallel distortion (went over in this video I think) and compressed slightly. :D

    -Ekol

  • hey dave just to let ya know......to copy the notes on a mac.....it's actually option+Click and drag ~_^ mac decided to give us a bunch of unneccessary buttons so i guess propellerhead decided to put them to use =D

  • thanks!!

  • amazing tutorials

  • Yes! I have been looking forward to this for a long time! This week is going to rule! Thanks Dave! :)

  • you should migrate to cubase then doa jump up tutorial lol

  • @robertgisthebest No, stick with Reason! Especially since Version 5 will be coming out at the end of summer!

  • @kevin12567 Unless it suddenly starts supporting vst's then i wont bother lol, if i wanted to use reason i'd have to run fruityloops as a plugin host and i cant be bothered with that lol.

  • @robertgisthebest Sorry, I should have clarified that comment was for Dave because I want him to keep making Reason tutorials...I don't care what you use, but I had to reply under your post because this shitty new format for the comments makes it difficult to see who replied to who otherwise!

  • @kevin12567 Well you the only person i've heard of to do that but it takes all sorts to make i world i guess.....

  • @robertgisthebest respectfully, the new reason 5 is so far beyond FL Studio, that FL has to come out with a new version to match it. Keep in mind during the time there was FL 6, 7, 8. and yes 9, then XXL producers edition -there was only reason 4 PH never had to upgrade because it was still better without audio. reconsider reason. BTW: i must admit i will use my FL XXL producers edition when im making kid songs for my 2 year old, i use it as rewire with PH reason 5 / record 1.5

  • @BuddhaSession I meant use fruity as a vst host, i use cubase 5 myself.

  • @robertgisthebest then never mind, BTW for reals, i liked your work on your site, others should check you out, you know what you are talking about in the comments you made and i can respect that in a artist. i hate on those that talk S*** but have no beats to back it up. but you are legit...

  • @BuddhaSession Cheer's man, I did start off on reason 4 but my addiction to native instrument's massive made me switch to cubase lol, if reason just added support for massive i'd switch back in a shot as i love the general gui that reason has, the rack's and stuff are excellent.

  • This is going to be so helpful! Big UP!

  • Thanks dude, but one question; would a chilled wobble base fit in this tune? ;D

  • FINALLY SOME LIQUID!!

  • How did you do that robot voice. I do not understand. question mark?

  • @ReliableNow I'm pretty good at impressions.

...I might do a tutorial on making robot voices in the future if enough people want to know :)

  • @wwwboyinabandcom yesss PLEASEEE!!!! dont make me beg .. ? :( what am i talking about course i would beg :D

  • @wwwboyinabandcom hi, im currently in the process of assembling a production setup, and was wondering if you could recomend me any decent soundcards thats compatible with a windows 7 pc, that arnt to pricey, as im only a beginer. thanks muchly!

  • @ReliableNow I typed this with russian accent.

  • @ReliableNow

    VOCODER

  • @ReliableNow use fake voice

    you're welcome

  • @ReliableNow pst....just so he doesnt waste his time.......use a vocoder and set the dry/wet to about 3/4's =)

  • Vocoder :)

  • Or as dave said, a comb filter and alot of time on your hands :)

  • Cool! Thanks ^^

  • "JUST YOU" :) i thougt the hi was as enthusiastic to evry othere video you have done till now, it made me happy that you got done with this iam waithing for the Hardstyle Tutorial Day 1 great up anyways. :)

  • at last, ive been wating for this

  • Bahaha, loved the irish robot accent. ;D

    -Ekol

  • @BreakbeatNightmare *phew*, glad you approve! I thought you were going to stab me to death with razor-sharp clovers or something.

BTW feel free to retaliate with some mention of crumpets, cups of tea on the lawn or dodgy teeth.

  • that hi almost sounded like you wanted to come put of the screen and give me a hug and rub your hair all over ma face..........NO HOMOSEXUAL :D

  • Is it just me or is that the most enthusiastic "Hi!" at the start of a tutorial that I've ever done?

  • @wwwboyinabandcom Hey man. Im just wondering, where could i get those dnb loops/breaks you where using that Ekol hooked you up with,or something that sounds like it? I like all the layered drums and such.

  • finally :P
