  • I never received any copyright warnings concerning this record.

    Victrolaman

  • Question: Did you get any copyright warnings from YouTube about this?

I just posted this song on a 1905 Victor record, and got a notice; does copyright still obtain on this, or i it public domain?

  • @Lucius1958

Congress did not extend U.S. copyright law to cover sound recordings until 1972.. Prior recordings are subject to the laws of the individual states which in many cases (New York for example) granted a perpetual copyright. The Federal law will terminate these state copyrights on February 15, 2067. Until then, the law of the state where the recording is played applies, so someone in England who posts a recording that is in the public domain there can be prosecuted in New York.

  • @Lucius1958 It was published in America before 1920 so it should be public domain

  • Beautiful!

  • This is great but I was wondering.....

Did Cohan ever record his own songs?

  • Nice cylinder! I m wondering.... Have you hear of the cylinder called Ida-Ho? If so, where could you buy it?

  • Oh my gosh how did you find something like this?????

  • If I am recalling correctly, I purchased a collection of Edison Cylinders from an Elderly gentlemen about 12 years ago and discovered this gem in going through them all. It is the only version copy of this great song by Murray I have ever found on cylinder or disc record for that matter. Yankee Doodle Dandy is from the same Cohan Musical is much more common.

  • Outstanding...loved the pre-recording info.
