I work in the Teesdale estate and I've been wondering what was over there before the place was built, have to say it looks better before the estate was built. Interesting video though.
thanks for posting this. in reading the posts I'm amazed that nobody is outraged by the damage that the council has done to stockton and the borough. what a frickin mess they've made. It makes me sad to see it now.
Great videos. I visited Stockton in July 89 after been away for 20 years. It was a great disappointment, dirty, many boarded up empty shops and the market not as good as the old days. Very depressing to shop there. Glad to say it improved slowly over the next few years when I visited. I enjoyed watching the videos. Part of the history of Stockton.
I'd love to see more footage, I wasn't even born when this footage was shot. I was born in 92, I have vivid memories of the picnic area where "Iceland/Wilkos/Poundland" are now, I used to remember how lovely it was sitting there in the summer as a kid, I also remember the old Kwik Save and that there was a cafe and fish shop around the corner too where Wellington Square is now. I'd really love more footage please. Stockton actually looked better then, than it does now to be honest =).
good to hear from yer marrakesh yer got my email ad still in msn drop me a line....if not il email you.....just moved back in the area at me sisters fell out with the wife so shit happens
please could you add some more footage it brings back such great memories i was only seven at the time so cant remember much i still live in stockton and it pretty much looks the same near the church but the riverside has totally changed thanks very much.
Interesting, but wished after taking a view of the Parish church he could have turned round and showed Wellington Street (before it was partly locked by the shopping centre and when the old Baptist Tabernacle was around). Interesting too to see the wasteland before Teesdale estate was built on it- vague memories from when I was a kid (I turned 4 in '89).

Also, never see the river that low these days, which I only assume is due to the Barrage...
