  • Damn! My dog was only 13 when she got old and died.

How can a cat outlive a dog?

  • @Jiltedin2007 thats not unusual cats usually do outlive dogs

  • @Jiltedin2007 The average lifespan of a cat is 15 - 20 years. However outdoor cats are expected to have a shorter lifespan.

  • @Jiltedin2007 By not dying?

  • awww what a sweetie - my kitty speedy is almost 22! and looks a lot like your baby did. thanks for sharing your sweet story.

  • I'll be lucky if I make it to 36.

  • he got a long ass life!!!!

  • don't know if i'm buying this.

  • I actually struggle to believe this...

  • Is he still alive? If yes that's nearly 41 years old!

  • thats how long thay all live when thay are truely loved

  • and ppl said i was lieing when i told them my cat is 27 -_-, but i dont plame them... she looks 13

  • My friend's cat lived to be 22, but they had to but her down because she got very sick. By the end she was blind, deaf, and meowed 24/7

  • Sorry to say Baby passed over the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago. Her human companions continue to miss him daily. Thanks Al for sharing Baby with us - GOD Bless you!

  • is this cat still alive?

  • 36 holy shit.

  • Wow! That amazes me!

  • cheese puffs are awesome. i mean look at chester cheeto, how old is he?

  • Some things TOTALLY AMAZE us. Is Baby still a live after what would now be 41 years? Surely if he is he MUST be VERY frail now as he must have been 4 years ago. Could he still go out hunting even at 36 yrs? Surely not. PLEASE let me know if he could still be as active then & if he's STILL alive? I've worked animal husbandry, I saw a cat that was around 20 yrs old in my job at RSPCA & EVEN he was becoming frail.

  • @PigeonTech maybe your brain did the same thing and just forgot to come back! DUH!!!!

  • Hi Baby, greetings from Germany.

I am a 22 year lod german cat called Pinky

  • Baby had a very strong genetic disposition.

  • that cat should hav 2 tails

  • my cat has just dide in the last hour her name was rats i am a 21 year old man and i am in tears :( rip rats you had a good 16 years with me and will never be foregottorn

  • @carlbowen11 My condolences, friend. She's in a better place now, yeah? She'll always live on in the memories you two shared.

  • Great Stuff Baby was almost 39! Unbelievable! Hope My Cat makes it to its 30s! She is about 6 Rescued from kids in neighborhood in a shopping cart throwing sticks and stones at Her! Cat Was about 2 yrs when found as per Vet in august 2007! Cutest thing Ever, Thats her Name Thing, Short 4 Thingamajig!

  • Baby was a stray. I have no idea just when he was born. All i could really go with was from what the Vet, and Animal Rescue could tell me. I don't know breeds either. Baby was more than just a cat to us.. He was Family. I don't know of Burmese.. he was smart when he was growing up. I could throw his toy. He would sit by me untill I told him to fetch it. He would then run and get it and bring it right back and drop it by my foot.

  • Yay Baby! That is one awesome cat! :-)

  • Baby made it to 38 years. He may have been the oldest living cat, but he would never make it into the books.. I was told that they wanted a birth certificate.. When do they issue birth certificates to animals..

  • @westgateblvd He is sable burmese pure breed. I have a birth certificate for mine.

  • Did Baby break the world record for cat years? If she was 36 i this video and the oldets is 38, and this was in 2007, what year did she die and did she break the record?

  • Truly amazing that he lived so long! He was very fortunately you saved him.

  • Were is your cat now

  • @Saoirsecuteza Baby is in a box on a stand near the window. He always liked being in that window looking at the birds in the bird feeder..

  • awh...don't know why i'm crying as i type this ! but cats are better then dogs, they aren't annoying or bark....they live longer lives!

  • wow! that must be equivalent to a 200 year old human!

  • Al I think it is great that you posted baby on here. What a pretty kitty. Sorry to here of her passing. Know that you all had a beautiful life together.

  • I don't think I can take it when our cat dies :( We got it when I was 2, so, well, his not THAT old yet, and I think I'll still have many great moments with him. I hope I'm way more grown up when he dies. Then I might get over it.

  • there isnt anything unusual about a cat living that long. ive had cats all my life. we had one that lived 22 years. my neighbor has one thats 24. the one i have now is 9. and all these cats are outside/inside cats.

  • I guess some people are intitled to there own opinion..

  • That picture proves nothing. It could be of any black cat.

  • @TheGregEgg

Why is it hard to belive. Then it is very hard to belive that people can live past 90. I can't answer why Baby lasted that long. The pictures of Baby you see there were we he was 36. He was about 20lbs then. Baby diesd at 38. He was 4lbs then. Not much after that interview Baby started to go down hill. I took him to the Vet, but was told that because of his age.. There are alot of things happening inside of him. He was old, and some parts were not working well.

  • @TheGregEgg Sorry.. I didn't know that I needed a written note from the Vet as to the age of Baby.. Jut let it go.. Baby is dead now. he never hurt you in any way shape or form. He was just a poor little cat that lasted a long time., and no the cat in the picture is Baby along with the other cat we had then.. Mama Kity

  • @westgateblvd And when did I say or imply that he had at some point hurt me? When outrageous claims are made then it's time inject a healthy dose of skepticism. I could claim my cat died at 37, but that doesn't make it so. Anybody who would believe my statement without questioning it is very gullible. Now, if I told you that my cat died at 18 years old then it would be reasonable to believe me as everyone knows cats frequently live past 18 years and there is nothing outrageous about my claim.

  • My grey tabby Tabitha is going to be 18 years old tomarrow June 15. She was born in our old house in 1993. She needs special attention cause she gets confused but we love her. Baby looked really good for an old cat. They are really good companions.

  • its hard when you get close and bond with a critter when they die i know i lost my cat zelda my first year of college she was 23 yrs old she waited till i got home and climbed in my lap and went to sleep i dont think the pain ever goes away to be honest it just gets a lil easer to deal with

  • I find this hard to believe.

  • RIP Baby :-((((((

  • CAT

  • I would have beat the shit out of this kids hey if you kids that hurt that kid read this come throw fireworks at me and see what happens and yeah your prob like 40 now so I can beat the shit out of you. Don't mess with the cats

  • he looks much younger than 36

  • The kids who were throwing firecrackers at the kitten are probably in their 60s now.

  • i hope they died painfully

  • MY cousin died in 33 yo, younger than baby !

  • Baby lived to be 38. Al

  • What a wonderful cat. Its a shame he is no longer with us. But you have 36 years of memorys.

  • My cat is 24 years old and he is very healthy, except for a cough is that normal? hes had it for years now and it only happens when you pick him up or wake him from his sleep. I also rescued him though which seems odd as the cats i purchased from a pet store died after 7 years.(either way my cat is older than i am)

  • My cat was abused and lived on the streets. My dad took care of the whole litter before I was born and soon took the kittens and the mother and found them homes, one was left in a cooler at a party by toddlers and killed. My 19 year old cat looks the exact same as baby same color shape and eyes. She lives in y room because m. Famy is extremely allergic. She doesn't get too much exercise and is a little light but has many years to go!

  • RIP Baby! What a wonderful life!

  • Anyone else find it slightly ironic that his name is "Baby" and he was a 38 year old cat when he died?

  • @Pokeeeveegirl

Baby was just a baby when I brought him home. He was very small. The runt of the litter.. Was I suppose to rename him before he died to something else?? Baby died March 22, 2008. He was 38 years old. there isn't a day that goes by that I don't catch myself thinking about him..

  • @westgateblvd Well I didn't mean it like that. I think it's great that he lived so long. I almost hope my cat Ellie will be like Baby. She's probably one of the greatest cats I've ever had. But by the time I finish high school and college, she will be about 12 years old. I'm almost inclined to keep living at my parents until she passes on. Just watching the video I can tell Baby was a great cat. Reminded me of my cat in a way.

  • I dont think I get it! 36 years old? So I can live to be 234 years old?

  • ah baby was cute r.i.p there is tuna in cat heaven

  • OMG that is amazing! 36...I wished my cats lived that long.

  • When I got my Boy.. There was never a way to find out just where Animal Allies had gone to pick Baby up. As for the parents of those kids goes.. Bobbing for french fries has a good ring to it.

As far as what others say about my Boy. I kind of look at that like water off a ducks back. Baby was with me for 38 years. He became a member of my family.

Now at Christmas insted of giving presents to various people. We give presents to the shelter.. People can fend for themselves.. The animals can't..

  • @squawkingbeak I really don't like it when people get all self-righteous and pulpit-pounding like you are. no offense, but tone it down a little, would ya?

  • I believe it's up to God who or what is saved..........it doesn't say anywhere that our beloved pets don't have a chance. Those of us who believe in our hearts that our pets may be there with us aren't going to hell because we believe that!! You're a bad example of Christianity. Keep your uptight beliefs to yourself! If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Ever heard of the Golden Rule??? Yeah, stop and think about that before you open your mouth or type something out. Geez!

  • @squawkingbeak man you christian's sure do have hateful comments...

  • it that cat still alive?

  • @inewton34 no hes not :(

  • Just who the Hell is this lazer59882 guy think he is.. My name is Al. Baby was my cat.. Got a problem with it??? Probably never had a pet before, or just another smart ass..

For the rest of us.. Our little friends are our family.. They become a part of us.. Yes and someday we will see them again.. Then others like him.. Won't!! Al

  • What an amazing story and cat! My eyes are welled up from watching the video and then reading in the comments that Baby passed. I've had my Simon for a little over five years now and I hope he outlives me! My previous cat, Nikki, I had from 1992 until 2005, and losing him to cancer was the worst thing I've ever been through.

  • 36? holy crap!

  • They , really really care about this cat ; ]

  • My cat is 9, and It's showing signs of old age. Huh, when this cat was 9 it was probably running a marathon,

  • wow he was loosing fur

  • Imagine some of those kids actually died before the cat did.

  • Holy crap, 36 years old!?

That is quite incredible. We had cats get to the age of 20 or so, but 36? wow

  • Comment removed

  • try 250 something!

  • Imagine the state of it's teeth.

  • Putting the cat in a trash can and firing firecrackers ? I`d shoot those kids to death if they did that !

  • if i see this fucking peoples who throw this fire crackers i am gonna fuck his booth family alone and i promise

  • Wow. 36. More years

  • Oh My God ! That is amazing ! o-o I wish my cat would live that long too...

  • soooooooooo old

  • Baby hited 37 years and died 2007

  • Baby died in 2008.

  • wow. that's amazing. I can only hope my cat lives close to that age.

  • wow hes a cutie

  • Well if he is still alive he broke the record

  • Ancient cat RIP

  • Wow, I thought my black kitty lived a long time! He passed away a year ago of the age of 22. We still have his sister who is 23.

  • Baby is a special cat! Thanks to Al for adopting him or he may not have lived as long as he did.

Lived 38 years, wow that is something!

  • Cool vid, my cat's 22 and rockin' strong. Just needs a thyroid pill in the a.m and p.m.

  • I really hope those bastard kids who threw the fire crackers at him paid for what they did.

  • @edwthompson313 if i saw kids doing that id beat them senseless

  • those kids are probably now 40 year old crackheads or in prison

  • @edwthompson313 mmm probably not. and good.

  • @edwthompson313 I second that!

  • he looks healthy for an old cat... :D

  • I wrote to you quite a long time ago (shortly after you posted Baby's video.) I'd mentioned my black cat, Canuck. I rescued her when she a couple weeks old & almost starved. Like Baby, she was a wonderful companion. Canuck, age 25, crossed to the other side Dec. 5, 2009. I miss her. It's hard to write this. What can you tell me--how long does it hurt? I held her as she left. She was very vocal and said three distinct murmurs before the light left her.

  • I don't know if it hurts - we held our sweet kitty Tigger when he left us a couple of years ago too. It's so painful for us too because we are the ones left behind. I really believe that if we believe in JESUS and put our faith in HIM, we will be reunited with our loved ones.

    GOD Bless

  • @squawkingbeak Followers of the bible have slaughtered an estimated 8.8 billion people in the past 2,000 years, and there are historically proven religions that predate the first mention of Jesus by 3000-4000 years, all of which, the christians sacked, murdered, destroyed, and took their traditions. Sorry, won't put my faith in the biggest cause of genocide and intolerance mankind has ever known.

  • @Jeepers1996 one of my cats lived to bout 23 or 24, he was a great cat, was always up to something, mine stopped eating, but we decided to get him put out of his misery.. was a sad thing todo, but I think it was the right thing.

  • @Marlockie Glad you wrote. I didn't have Canuck put down. She was healthy up to less than a week before she died. The vet said it was bladder infection & prescribed some antibiotic. But it was too late;she went downhill in only a day. I was fortunate to hold her when she left. I've since adopted a stray black kitten I hope will prove to be as wonderful a companion as Canuck had been. By the way, I live in the middle of Montana. Where do you hail from?

  • @Jeepers1996 I hail from mid east of Illinois, I always enjoyed my cats company, he was extremely smart, could open stuff, cabnets and such, he'd always be at the window waiting for me to come home, and would meow as I came closer, it was a very tough choice for me to make, but I think it would have been better, vet said he wouldn't have lived past another day. he probly gave up eating cause maybe a month before our other cat had died from Liver failure.

  • @Jeepers1996 here let me help you: grow a fucking pair and move the fuck on. its just a goddamn cat. dont be such a fucking pussy, with this "crossed to the other side" "light" bullshit.

  • @Jeepers1996 i cry when i read this sorry for youre lost

  • Is baby still alive?

  • Unfortunately Baby left her people a couple of years ago. They loved him very much and finally got a new kitty to love not too long ago.

  • thanx squawky :)

  • @squawkingbeak Baby is not a girl.

  • @squawkingbeak good

  • That was the interview of baby when he was 36 Another interview was done when he turned 38. After that he went down hill fast. From about 15lbs to 4lbs. The Vet said everything was starting to fail.

If I could figure out how to post a picture of him about a week before he passed I would.. Al

  • Baby looks way too young to be that old, but maybe it's just good genetics!

  • i HAD a 28 year old cat

  • Our cat lived 18 years. My dad would treat her every Friday to one of those little half-&-half containers from McDonalds. Boy, did she ever lick it up. Then she would jump into my dad's lap for some cuddling. Cats are so neat. Perhaps if my dad gave her a cheese puff to go along with the half-&-half, she might have lived longer!

  • baby was a great cat

  • What do you want.. A picture of Baby's box?? I had him cremated.. I also have other pictures of my Boy. Otherwise I don't know if I can help you much. Baby is also listed under 38 year old cat. He did live to 38 years. Everything failed on him in the end. We both had a good life together.. Al

  • Why bother answering this. Some people are the way they are.. Baby's owner.. Al

  • How do I know your the owner, if so can you give me some evidence, some people spit aload of shit on youtube so you know proof would be nice.

  • Hey. My Boy is dead.. Leave him alone. Why did he live so long?? I don't know. All i can say was he was my best friend. There were alot of real nice comments on this site as to Baby, but there is always the rotten apple in the bunch to spoil it. I have another cat now. She is 2. She will never replace Baby.. He was one of a kind.. Al

  • RIP Baby, the amazing thing is what good shape he was in at 36

  • wow older then my dead gran

  • @vivasn00ka you nedd to vid it lol world records 36

  • Vivasn00ka, whats wrong with you? a grenade? dear lord.

  • amazing, i didnt knew that cats can live so long :)

  • The cat you see now is dead. Baby died March 22/ 2008. Baby made it to 38 years of age. He weighed less than 4lbs went he went to the Bridge.. I will always remember my Boy.. Al

  • @westgateblvd I'm sorry to hear that he's gone! What a wonderful kitty. Thank you for giving him such a wonderful life, especially after he had such a rough start! My condolences. R.I.P. Baby :)

  • @westgateblvd I am so sorry to hear about Baby's passing. I read about him in "Cat Fancy" and I was simply amazed that he was that old.

  • Those kids should go to hell. Who the fuck throws firecrackers at animals?!?!

  • i had a 16yr old cat that just passed a day after valentines day this year... i miss my baby sooo much

  • My kitty is 18

  • mine was but he died on may 2nd :( he was 36 pounds at the heaviest then he got wayyy skinny like 4 ounds :( he was old and sick

  • Al, I am really sorry to hear that Baby went to the bridge, but what a trooper and an amazing testement that he lived to such a ripe old age. You must have done EVERYTHING right! .

My oldest cats have lived to 23 and 25 years old; Daggot the 23 year old had health issues in her final year, but Moses had none and died peacfully in her sleep.

I have a 10 year old boy right now and hope he lives for a very long time yet.

  • My oldest cat is 19...

  • what a sweet cat, just sitting there on the couch with him :)

  • cute cat

i have a nine year old orange tabby i adopted, and hes still very energetic and healthy. i hope he lives for a while :)

ps lol daily cheese puff xD

  • Sorry.. I can't read that trxt stuff, but baby died March 28th 2008. I guess you won't have to worry about Baby anymore. Baby made it to 38 years. I have a couple of pictures that show the decline of the kitty. He went from near 10lbs to less that 4lbs when he died. All of his organs were shutting down. He is missed very much. I had him since I graduated High School. Why Baby lived that long?? I don't know.. I guess that had to do with him..

  • Comment removed

  • I miss my cat . She is missing. Sj=he is 17. I grew up with her. Like my sister. :*(

  • I'm so sorry :( My tomcat died about a month ago. I grew up with him and I've had him for 16 years...

  • he;s really old!I thought my kitty was old!

  • lol, his daily cheese puff

  • Poor cat. RIP. He lived a good life at least. :(

  • This pleases my wife and our 20 year old cat

  • Well I am glad that your Wife is happy.. Baby was a good Boy.. He was a great comfort when he was alive...

  • Good for you.. Can you prove it?? I can..

  • my friend had a cat that lived to 16

  • my friend had a cat that was 24 when it finally died

  • Our Nelson is 22 years old and still going strongbless him !!!

  • Actually 30 is about normal for cats on raw, or natural diets , your cat is just one lucy cat, probably like the 122 year old woman that smoked for 60 years.

The truth is pet food probably kills most cats when they reach the 50 years in human-14 or 15,cat years. If you ate garbage from toddler age I don't think you would live to see 60, even with the best of health care, on average. Most pet food is as low as it can be in quality, cost reasons, to maintain life not to have it thrive.

  • wow , to live to 38...just amazing ...you must miss him terribly...

  • Yes I do.. Baby has been gone just over a year, and it still feels like I lost my best friend..

  • my cat sammy was 21 years old she passed away two years ago

my lil sis got a cat for her bday

we named her oreo because she is black all over has a white belly and white paws like piano gloves

  • Baby had a little bit of white on his chest. In his later 30's he started to get lots of white hairs.. He was a good Boy.. I hope all of the other cats out there make it as long, or longer than Baby..

  • Today is the day my Boy Baby passed to the Bridge. I miss him every day. I had Baby cremated, so He is still here. There are a few on here that don't belive that Baby lived to the age of 38. Most of the people here do. To all of the senior kitties.. Well I hope you make it.. Baby lived a very good life. I wish He was here now..

  • @westgateblvd You're a braver man than me. I've had two go on me one at 6, and the other at 18(had him since I was 7) and I had buried them both. I couldn't bear to cremate them. Those who say man up and they were just cats, if one had said that to me at those times, let's say I would have gladly went to jail for what I would have done to the the one who said that.

  • Baby died one year ago tomorrow March 28th.. Still missed..

  • did he die in his sleep. R.I.P baby.

  • No. I had to put him down. He was near death, and I didn't want him to cry anymore. A pain killer would not have helped. The Vet said he needed to go to sleep. I held my Boy threwout. He died in my arms.. I have him here with me now.

  • i would have done the same thing. im sure you have some wonderful memories. it's a terrible loss losing a cat that you've had for so long and loved deeply.

  • You did the right thing, Mr.Palusky. It's almost unbelievable that Baby lived so long and was still happy and active. He must have had a great, loving home. I recommend the book, Dewey the Library Cat. This cat lived 19 wonderful years at the Spencer, Iowa library. He touched the lives of many folks. Good reading. Cats are so underrated.

  • Thank You.. I will look for that book.. We now have another cat that needed a home. Emma is only a little over a year old.. She came from our local animal rescue. My Wife and Myself go there at least once or twice a month. Mostly to pet, and hold the Kitties that are afraid. Al

  • Wow 36 my cat Jason is 23 still a youngster then, he is pretty active and goes out every day to patrol his'manor' from other cats he's as tough as old boots.!
