"turntables are a playback device and do NOT produce their own sound.
It does NOT take as much practice to be a respected dj as it does to be a professional musician. Read sheet music much?
anyways, it's a very well done cut."
...Any man could take a year or two practicing cutting every day and they would be a world class dj... Not so for an instrument. I do both, and playing an instrument (well) takes WAAAAY more practice. And don't start talkin shit before you think objectively...
I may be an "internet bastard", but I bet I'm the only person who has left a comment, who can claim to have actually battled against Woody, back in the day. It wasn't a one-on-one, it was at a DMC regional.
hey man, i dont know the original record got ive got a pressing at home with that phrase of sample on which is pretty widely available,,, if you remind in a week and a bit i ll be back at home and i ll chuck u the name man, take it easy.. internet bastard, just kidding!!
I meant what if he's played the sound himself? Even if he's just played it on a keyboard, it's still him playing it. By the way, watch the video of Woody's "Controller One" video, I think that should shut you up.
The controller one video was cool, for the first time I saw it. If you had any sort of ear, you'd notice it was ALL off key. Sound cool? - yes. Does it match Robby Krieger's (of the doors) talent on a guitar? - NO.
It takes a lifetime to master an instrument, with the controller one being a completely unique and new one. No one can teach you how to use it, and DJ Woody sounds ALL off key after making a video using the controller one, after two days of having it in his possession. If you play the guitar all your life and move on to a bass, you may pluck the strings but still sound approximately 22 times more off than DJ woody's controller one video.
Say you know latin. You read another language for example Italian. You recognise the letters and might be able to get a reasonable idea of what you are reading. It is not 'how easy it truly is to use'.
Thank you for giving me easy examples to make a fool out of you.
It takes a lifetime to master an instrument? I dont know whatever you play, but i can tell you for a fact that there is a five year old kid somewhere that plays it much much better than you do.
if it takes time and patience to learn its an instrument in my eyes especially when it takes an understanding of key, pitch and timing. the input is very different but the outcome is the same whether you like the music or not... and thats where you fall short i believe. i know a great bass player who cant read music

nowadays , dj start using the sample that their produce themself and record it on a custome vinly ~ ;)
bbkui 3 years ago
Yeah, what if the DJ has recorded the sound himself?
bugstrut 3 years ago
Oh man , 'cause hitting the record button is so hard.
I'm not saying he doesn't have talent, I'm saying it's dumb to compare him to a respectable musician.
It takes a lifetime to maser an instrument, how long has woody been around?

Again, can he read sheet music?
can you?
