I would go West. Not sure when or where on the East coast the hurricane is supposed to hit. The sights out East would be similar to Michigan while the sights out West would be different.
"Go west young Man!" They make cooling vests(search exactly) that work at 59 degrees for 2-1/2 hours and recharge quickly. Also there is the 661 core cooler that can work for hours on end. What ever you do have a great time man.
I would try to meet as much people i could, but minding that its not about the destination, but the journey, I would choose the best views/roads. Go West.
I'd take the East route. Sarge has a point about temps although it has been humid as hell lately. On the other hand, going West will provide you with better scenery and meeting the Phoenix crew is a plus. When are you going?
I'd go east unless this super heated blob of high pressure air moves off of Texas! It is really not fun to ride when its 108 in the day and 94 at 10pm.
@motochron - I scared of the heat since I had an 'incident' related to overheating (me, not the FJR). If you come out this way I'd suggest leaving at the start of morning civil twilight, and getting into your motel or camp by 3pm.
If you do stop at Big Tex I'll try and meet you there.
I think that if your going to go east you should go to Nova Scotia and then north to Newfoundland. Then you could do a meet up with the crew up there.Plus it won't be to hot!! That's just what I think. But I am sure what ever you do you will have a good time. Ride safe and good luck!!!
@motochron If you decide on the east route I will be starting on the BRP on the fourth of September heading south if you think you will be close maybe we could meet up and have a bite to eat and a chat.
Go West young Man! Wasn't your last trip on the East? I remember it raining but don't remember where you went. Come on out West. Happy to see you taking a trip. How long would these two routes take you to do?

@oppossumhead Yeah Irene is looking to pound the East Coast. I think West is looking better each day.

@M3anMachin3 Thanks man, still undecided as of tonight. I will say I am more excited to go West than East, but know either is going to be fun.

I'm siding with some of the others (East).. It offers more flexablity and cooler temps.

@JimNtexas Thanks Jim, I value your opinion. Southwest might be better in the late fall.

Go East for the Weather and go on the West route in October when the weather is nicer.

@Retnuh1974 My thinking is about the same, but only get to do one trip a year if I'm lucky.

@therustyaxe The last big trip was West. I have 11 days planned for this. Eastern route would leave more breathing room. Thanks!
