Have not heard in over 20 years after stupidly selling! Bought this single at the Edinburgh Playhouse after a Buzzcocks gif in 1978. Subway Sect were the support, which makes them the first band i ever saw live.....
Jeeez! Long time no hear - I recognise the sleeve because I still have that single stuffed away somewhere along with a whole bunch of other singles - all early Buzzcocks, Banshees, SLF, Ruts, UK Subs, Bauhaus, etc and Gang of Four, Magazine from a bit later on.
Back in '77 I heard about the band, read about them but their vinyls were unavailable here in Antwerp, lack of distribution, which was a bummer because this sounds great.
i finally watched "the punk rock movie" from 78! you can watch it on youtube. anyways subway sect is in it! they rock

One of the first singles I ever bought, aged about 8, found it frightening and alluring in the same instant. Bleak power.

For about 3 weeks in 1977, The Subway Sect were the best group in the history of music, then Bernard Rhodes went and fucked everything up.

One of the most overlooked bands in history. They wrote great songs that still hold up in today's world.
I think they were better than the Sex Pistols.

Definitely under-rated... "Ambition" is a classic tune too...
