I've had budgies for many years; all is well. My first hatch; won't be breeding my birds. I adopted these birds; making a profit on their behalf: no thanks.

No, dont buy a nest box. If you have youngsters thats fine to use but if you have two adult parakeets they could have a chance of breeding. When all the lights and TV goes out at night the parakeets automaticly drop to the floor. You should ask your avian vet if your worried.

If the mom and dad have babies either they will reject them or they wont. If you just have babies you should get the baby budgies a nest box. Ask your vet if your worried about it.

where i am from, my budgies cost me 15 dollars each. I got them a little over a year ago, and the price lowered since then. right now they cost about 9 to 10 dollars. they are very inexpensive and easy to take care of :)

Budgies are very easy to breed if you get all the conditions right and have a male and female in breeding condition. I have a forum on my website where I or others can answer your questions more fully. First thing I would recommend is buy/read as much as you can. You can get books really cheap on ebay and amazon ;)

You'd need a nest box, some wood shavings and lots of extra treats. The birds would need to be in tip top health, and they'd need extra light to make the days seem longer. The birds would also ideally both be over a year old, but under 3-4 years. I have lots more information about breeding in my budgie forum.

well budgies have a natural fear of humans well anything bigger than them really so that is why they are scared of you if you want them tamer spend time just sitting there with them eventually reach your hand out and let them come to you don't try to touch them. wood shavings are like well it is hard to explain... but go to a petstore and ask they could be able to show you some.

another great place for information about birds is your local budgie club sometimes they can be very hard to find but one way to find them (usually a pretty good way to) is to go to your local pet store and ask for the number of a budgie breeder that sells them birds! usually they'll have at least one. they you ask that breeder if they are in a budgie/or bird club if they are ask them when their next meeting is and go along ask questions and remember don't be shy! if not keep trying
