  • Thank you !

  • If you don´t think it´s good for you, then don´t do it. But why criticizing and insulting her when she´s doing this to help and for free. I don´t know this lady but don´t agree with ungrateful people who´s only purpose is to be negative.

  • "We're going to exercise the muscle of our tongue, so we can watch it go down."

  • ta hell with this shit and fyi i almost couldnt sing silent night no more screw you old lady ┌┘└┐ ( • _ • ) ┌┘└┐

  • The yawning and the tongue thing really helped ! Thank you

  • Best description I've found yet--don't know why all the haters are bashing on the mouth-on-the-forehead.

  • omg i yawned when you yawned o.o

  • I am not going to draw that shit on my forehead e___e

  • @HootyInWonderLand i lol'd

  • Sounds like porn music in the begining :p

  • this is really helpful! thank you

  • Your amazing! Thank you so much!

  • Oh, my that really works... I am so greatful to have such great warm ups on the intergalactic net

  • she sounds a tad canadian:) maybe its just me lol

  • Who could dislike something like this ?

  • you make learning to sing soo easy and fun!! Thanks! God Bless You!!

  • Shouldn't the back of the tongue also go up as the front goes down?

  • This is silly. A correctly-sung head voice note does not give a sensation on the forehead. A head voice note should feel up and a bit back in respect to lower notes. The Ah is never forward - it is always the furthest back vowel, whether high or low.

  • Hey, even teenagers like me can learn from this. Great job!

  • i almost dislocated my jaw trying to force yawn haha. what a weird sensation

  • wtf i drew the lipstick on my forehead it didn't work

  • I actually yawned... and laughed after that :))

  • I actually yawned... ang laughed after that :))

  • why sometimes my head voice breaks (literally) into a ugly distorted VOCAL FRY?

i am worried about that beacuse it took so much time to learn all this!

  • I like you. Your hilarious. XD And this might actually help me. XD

  • Im going to put stickers on my forehead today onwards :)

  • That made me YAWN lol

  • My little sister (6 years old) gets all the head voice chest voice stuff, but she hates her head voice! It's so weak and wispy, and she likes singing in her chest voice as it is much stronger and sounds better :D however, she doesn't have the best range :P how do I get her to improve her head voice strength? <3

  • don't sing in head voice, seriously

  • @Welocy In my opinion, there should actually be a mix of chest voice (low), chest and head mix (middle range) and pure head for high notes. It can sound really crappy though when your head voice is weaker than the other ones.

  • zomg i did tht nd i blend tears

  • you are the only person EVER to have explained this in a way that I understand. Thank you

  • This is actually very good advice because im very tall and its a fact taller girls have lower voices that smaller girls.

  • I guess I never that you can find your head voice when you yawn!

  • it is nearly impossible for me to keep my tongue down. any advice?

  • Michael Jagman

  • @coreyd79 So I guess I'm not the only one who is in the hardcore genre who looks at this stuff.

  • it's hard to differentiate head voice and falsetto for me, therefore I don't know when or when I am not achieving head voice.

  • is it me or is she totally lovely

  • Excellent Explanation!

  • is this woman on drugs? please tell me she is ........ this is child abuse lol:-)

  • What's it mean when you do this and your throat starts to hurt?

  • @michellez101 That's not good...

  • your awesome :)

  • I just can't belive it.

The tip of low my tounge actually help a lot, and at the beginning i think: low my tounge?, that will not work, but, it work, Thanks Kathie!

  • You don't know how many people have tried to explain to me how to engage the soft palate and I know where it is but I never really knew what it is supposed to do, and when you told me you have to make it hard to project, and i put my tongue down and felt it get hard I knew exactly what I had previously been doing wrong for head voice. Well done! :-) Everyone should explain things in terms little kids can understand!

  • @shritchie wheres the soft palate at? Cause idk where its at..

  • @BaB3B001 Put your index finger on the roof of your mouth closest to your front teeth. Glide your finger back (it will go back pretty far, almost to the point where you feel you might gag) and you will feel it go from very hard to very soft. This is your soft palate. Now keep your finger on it and yawn, feel it harden? If you can keep your throat like that when you sing you feel the air bounce off it and resonate in your mask for good tone and power! :-)

  • @BaB3B001 Also, remember to keep your jaw relaxed and low and your tongue down... if you have the tongue relaxed and the tip is about bottom teeth level or a little lower and keep that open throat you can really get good tone and resonance. Also remember to make the proper shape of your mouth for vowels!

  • @shritchie thanks soo much this info was really helpful! =D

  • gosh i know yawning is contagious for unexplainable reasons but its even contagious through video lol

  • now i cant stop yawning lol my tounge wont go down without making me yawn....damnit

  • omg thank you i was getting frustrated with the head voice. this really helped

  • Thank You!

    I'm Gonna Try This Tomorrow

    Thanks Again(:

    God Bless You

  • Thanks, this was really helpful. I'm naturally an alto singer and head voice is really hard for me. I have to lead a song on Sunday and the chorus goes up to a high A i think which is way beyond my comfortable range. But this technique helps, especially keeping the tongue down, i never thought of that.

  • Thankyou for the advice. I keep watching.

  • Wow. HaHa Made Me Think. Also Helped. Thanks :)

  • i yawned like 3 times in this video! XD

    great tips!

  • lol i yawned 4 lol

  • it was really helpful...thanks!

  • wat if you smoke

    would that ruin your voice??

  • @Kaplovsgab1 ofcourse it does, smoking ruins ur lungs ur voice and all other important stuff

  • @Zollaganzi Look at some of the best singers to have existed though. Jim morrison, Robert Plant, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Julian Casablancas, they all smoked and were pretty amazing singers

  • @101011we just because they were doesnt mean you will... if they were all still alive and singing now guess what? they would suck. and no im not saying they did suck, they were amazing but its just a fact that if they kept doing what they did, they woulda been no bodys at a point, much like led zeppelin isnt too big anymore cause they grew out of thier abilities now

  • i guess it just gets rougher

  • Kathy seem very nice... and when ever i did that yawning thing, i actually yawned.... kinda weird

  • yeah me too!

    its kinda transmitted!

    psychological and things like that...

  • @Pheonix8900 when a person sees another person yawn, he/she will yawn after awhile too its actually contagious. try it with your friends lol

  • @Pheonix8900 lol when i read that i started yawning..

  • @Pheonix8900 i yawned after reading ur comment, haha..

    - not cuz its boring, but cuz it was about yawning =] -

  • @Pheonix8900 And when I read the word 'yawn' from your comment, I yawned. ..And I just yawned again while typing the word. LOL.

  • @Pheonix8900 Just when I read the word "yawned" I actually yawned hahaha

  • wow it works! thanks!!

  • niceeeeeee ;)

  • you're a jolly person Kathie...love it! nice lesson!

  • haha TARD!

  • tHIS IS FOR TEACHING PPL how to teach little kids!

DUH!!!!!!!!! man ppl r dumb... sooo sad... :*(

  • the thing of the mouth......so stupid!!!!!

  • Falsetto shame on the singer ??!!??

    head voice is the ORIGINAL

  • is this for men to bcuz i too need help singing with my head voice

  • ya for both men and women

  • yeap its for both. Theory sometimes is confusing I used to think that there were different approaches about singing and that some were wrongs. I was a bit skeptical too, until a professional singer who sings very high started to tell my how he does tha. Any time I have to talk to somebody wh sings pretty high I ask always "what do you feel" "what do you do that". If you are still wondering about head voice write me and can share with you what Ive heard, read and know by experience.

  • So simple, yet so helpful!

    Thanks!

  • Falsetto and Head Voice refer to two different things, but they are not gender specific. The main difference is through their sounds.

Falsettos have an airy quality when hitting high notes, but when you talk about head voice, it's far more clearer.

  • yeah. a teacher taught me that.. but another teacher said what I posted.

guess i'll never know the difference then

    but thank you

  • so you mean to say falsetto's a little less stronger than head voice?

  • oh well, u know I use to hit high notes when

I was 17 but I started drinking and I can not go as high as I'd did b4, not even with my diaphragm. I mean I did not even know anything. I just did it easy but now I have to watch videos.

  • Wow, great video; now my head voice sounds much clearer and stronger. Who knew it could be done with something so simple? o_O Thanks. :D

  • it seems i cant sing with my head voice.

i started singing in chorus freshman year(first time i used falsetto) ( im a sophmore now) i can sing chest voice and falsetto. are there ways to learn if i have never used my head voice? or is all hope lost?

  • They're not.

  • ur such a noob...

  • wow i can sing high notes now!! thx

  • I still don't understand that thing with headvoice... but my voice sound BETTER than before :D

  • thank you so much for uploading this video.

im auditioning for a musical soon, and i've been having issues staying in my head voice

  • I found your video VERY educative. It's too bad for me that such SIMPLE principles weren't taught when I was in elementary school: your students are quite lucky!

At some point I suffered because of vocal training, and have been doing vocal therapy for a couple of months now, where I'm learning to do EXACTLY as you describe here.

It has helped me A LOT.

I'm finishing medical school, and "phoniatrists" and vocal educators ALL agree with you.

Keep on SAVING voices from damage due to bad use.

  • Does anywone knows some good clips on you tube about head voice an how to achieve it. I think i saw 10 clips and i didnt undestood anithing. Thank you.

  • I agree with these comments...and she doesn't mention the most important element....support...

  • some of the worst instruction i have ever heard from an amature voice teacher. lowering the tongue depresses the larynx which is also bad, it needs to be naturally suspended. also you soft pallet never ever becomes hard. when you try to raise the pallet you also depress the larynx creating mouth space and mouth resonance not head resonance as when your pallet is high is shrinks nasal pharengal space which you want as much of as possible. please take time to learn proper voice instruction.

  • I agree. Pretty much totally.

  • It's actually quite bad to 'force' your tongue down. You can hear how your voice strangled itself when you lowered it. You need a relaxed tongue, but not one forced down.

  • I'm pretty sure she's simply "exaggerating" so as to help viewers understand. I do agree with you, however, in that the tongue should be relaxed.

  • Hmm... I think in this case exaggeration is not a good tool to use!
