This was a good movie. Watched it last night on netflix. Loved the premise, cheesy at times but overall, a very good sci-fi/fantasy film! I recommend it!
Watched this with my babysitter when I was only 5 years old. SUCH scary memories, especially the snake guy and wolves. Was glad to finally find this title so I can relive my dreams again. Inception got nothin on this freakyness!
@Mappyman same here! I was really young when I saw this. All I remembered was certain scenes looked red, the word dream in the title and denis quaid or james spader was in it. Such a creepy movie, but such a theme of the 80's
The person who uploaded this trailer has the release date wrong. Dreamscape came out on August 15, 1984, not 83. Also, Craven couldn't have ripped off from this movie. A Nightmare on Elm Street was released November 16, 1984, just a few months later. So both movies were in production at the same time roughly. Craven was filming Elm Street before Dreamscape came out.
@TheManWhoFelltoEarth And lets not forget that the Elm Street script was well-known in Hollywood having been turned down by every major studio before New Line took a punt on it so it would have been easy for someone to appropriate sections of it and call it their own. Regardless, A Nightmare on Elm Street was far better!
Cell, Nightmare on Elm Street and Inception were probably all inspired by this. I bet Wes saw the sharp fingers and totally ran with the idea of dreams and a creepy killer. I just saw this again and it still kicks ass. I used to see it a lot when I was a kid but didn't remember it at all. It was amazing :) Almost 30 years later and it's still good
@515sbest In fact the Elm Street script was well-known in Hollywood circles years previous to Dreamscape being filmed having been turned down by every major studio so it would have been easy for someone to appropriate sections of it as we see here.
I would LOVE to see a sequel !! I was in high school when this came out. A modern sequel would be terrific !

Freddy Krugger was invented from this movie
ELM Street was made to take this plot
and be more successful
Wes Craven stole this idea and made millions.

@515sbest Indeed and it was a lousy movie anyway, this was more compelling.
