Wachenfool,go the fuck home and grow up!! Can Trevor "taps" Rabin handle " And you and I " ? I didn't think so. Now to the true yes fans, HOWE is the man!!! Although I think Trevor Rabin is great guitarist, he is no Steve Howe, undeniable fact!
Maxgrant, Yes indeed History was made that evening for you and all the other attendees. I was fortunate enough to see the Seattle leg of the Union Tour. Which was in Mid May, 91 following the Denver Stop. Yes, in my opinion are in a class of their own! The best Concert I ever attended! Personally I feel that Jimi Hendrix and Yes are the true Gods! If you're an Avid Yes fan which I detect you are, have you ever seen Chris Squire's interview in which he describes Yes backing up Hendrix? Amazing!
@Wachenfeldt Huh . . . well I noticed that the Rabin version of the band never took on such Yes classics as Close to the Edge. I was in the house for this very show, and I definitely was there to see Howe and Bruford and Wakeman play in Yes again. It was a much better show than the Big Generator tour I had seen a couple years back.
It only took me a listen through to learn Owner of a Lonely Heart, it is a good song and 90210 is a good album, but to learn anything from Relayer took alot of listening a two teachers, lol...nuff said
@Wachenfeldt I'm so sick of all the Rabin vs Howe stuff. Rabin is a great guitarist but somehow I don't think he'd approve of people dissing Howe who is a groundbreaker Rabin and others know they owe a great legacy to. The tour was called "Union" - not "cockfight".
@ASHaustralia I agree with you partner. Music is a form of communication, not a competition. I don't know why some people can't sit back and just enjoy the magic. Musicianship like this is to be savored and appreciated. Not used as a subject of attack.
However much money this costs in 91 I woulda gladly paid for it, damn probably won't see this lineup in the future, unless I'm having some wicked dream!!
tell you what, rabin really saved this bands ass when he joined,i love all yes music, but 90125,wow,urgent ,powerful 80s rock, this was this bands defining time and album, and i say this even though going for the ones my favourite..
this tour is vulgar bill bruford always had a thing for simons drums but this was ridiculous ive watched the union videos and bill bruford didnt even have any acoustic drums he just had 10 or so simons pads and 5 cymbols just ridiculous, and everyone was clearly battling with eachother they may aswell have hired a second bassist just too make it a little more chaotic
@martinharnevie lol, that is just not truth.Steve and Trevor always got along...its the fans that made that story up.I wonder why Trevor would have invited Steve in 2204 to perform Owner of a Lonely heart.Check it out:
the great Rabin Trebor, who became the classic "YES" to a titan of progressive rock and catapulted him to fame from BG, now he developed a good introduction to the historic song "Owner of a Lonely Heart", with which I identify myself too!
Union was quite amazing, but the two incarnations of YES did NOT get along at all. This was simply a mutual concert where they got everyone together. Unfortunately, Trevor got his rep tarnished because he didn't want the band to be called YES when he entered the band, he wanted to form a different band named Cinema with Jon Anderson, but Anderson, being the person he is wanted to keep riding the YES wave and I think that that decision ultimately led to Trevor leaving the band.
Actually, Trevor and Chris and Alan were going to call the band cinema. Jon got invited back in and his condition was that they call the band Yes. Rumors are Trevor wanted more of a leadership role in the band, and Jon wouldn't have it--he was the lyricist--and without Asia, Steve needed a job so he came back. Let's face it the Yes that most everyone thinks of is Wakeman, Anderson, Howe, White and Squire. Yet, Squire is the only one who has been in every single incarnation of the band.
@oregonbobv You may want to check your source on this because according to Chris Squire's personal web site "Chris has always been credited as the owner of the 'Yes' name. However, the name is co-owned by Chris, Alan White and Jon Anderson".
I think anyone that knew anything about the band realised that the Union line-up wouldn't last, but did it make for a great set of concerts or what? They were able to change personnel for particular songs to include the people that originally recorded the tracks. That's pretty unique and I can't think of another band that has done that before or since. I'm pleased to be able to say I went to one of the Union concerts and it was a fantastic night.
@Frizzlefry2093 actually i believe before 90125 trevor had already formed a band with alan white and chris squire but they thought trevors voice wasnt strong enough to be a lead vocalist so they asked jon anderson too come along and they all decided that it just sounded like yes so why not call it yes and jon left after 90125 because he was being pushed out by trevor rabin
@pinkfloydrule27 I'd never heard that Jon was pushed out by Trevor. Egos are oftentimes hard for band members to contend with, but I personally think the band was at their peak when both Trevor and Jon were in it and both singing.
This song is Beautiful, i love this verson, when the " Make It Easy " comes up first, and that Guitar-solo ! <3

That's grossly exaggerated. There were two people in the Union lineup that didn't get along. Steve and Trevor. The others got along just fine.

Chris Squire legally own the name YES. That is why cimema changed to YES for business reasins.

@pinkfloydrule27 you got that one wrong.Trevor was in a band called Rabbit and they took him in Yes.John was always part of Yes at that moment.
