i was with diamond when this was done on his canadian tour...he had just come off stage and was sick with a bad cold...passionate dude when talkin about diggin...
yup... exactly! all these corny producers today who grew up on the real heads production shine off the blood and sweat of the innovators. time to bring back the real!
I lost all respect for Finesse after seeing him bitch about the exact same thing he does for a living. Samples cleared or not. Sampling is only wrong if you sample Finesse I guess.
yo that guys hatein on fat boy slim for taking his vocals. isnt that what these's guys do for a living, take other plps beats. They take but when someone takes from them, they start crying.
the problem is, they didn't told finesse that they took his vocals. hiphop producers or labels have to clear the samples before they can release it. sometimes they have to pay for it
you can find the samples they used in the inlay book of a record
The funniest thing about this movie was how Diamond D starts off kind of not really into it and subduded--and by the end of his interview he's hunched over into the camera, sweat pouring down his face, and just going OFF on the subject.
Only problem was at least on my copy there's this one white pixel in the middle of his face for the whole interview!
that was the funk soul brother guy that actually sang that, wow? whats the story, he didn't get royalties?

he's probably just tired of gettin jerked. on chronic 2001 he didnt even get production credit for the message.
julescoltrane 2 years ago
that's what Contracts are for... you don't get jerked for your credit if you sign the proper contracts.
drumatic 2 years ago
precisely... c'mon man... how you gonna sample cats and dodge paying them... then go and bitch about someone sampling you. hahah hypocrite!
drumatic 2 years ago
@Ymanalo Yeah I must admit I don't quite follow his logic.
