Processor may have had cooling issues and caused components beneath it to explode.

@chompbitefilms Incorrect. It's generally down to poor quality capacitors in the PSU (Power Supply Unit). Replace it with a more reputable one such as an Antec, and it will be fine.

some power supplies can be failures like mine it scared me off like i add some neon light on my pc and i was booting windows then suddenly it stopped my cpu fan i was like "O_O oh shit turn it off turn it off" it happened i was lucky my processor didnt blow up and also when im playing stuff like Youtube and froze up the system so i change the power supply and it worked better than before... has someone had that problem before? :D

classic emachine pc- bestec pos ps's plus coupled with him presing butttons bunch of times set the ps on overload. the Bestec ps's are junk and have no overload protection. i bet the power supply took out the motherboard when it died. stay away from e-machines they are crap

It was one of the capacitors that failed. It happens every now and then with older parts. By the look of it as long as it wasnt a power surge your files on your hard drive should be fine. I was working with the rest of the tech people at my school once and we got a printer to repair, we plugged it up and then instantly BOOM. No cameras at the time so no video, did find out though that the fire alarms dont work at the school 0_0

Also, if you hook up everything (e.g. motherboard, video card, sound card, fans, etc.) in the computer the wrong way, then it can explode.

My grandpa warned me of that when I was in 9th grade because, at that time, I tried to upgrade the computer myself (when my uncle and grandpa were going to do it anyway), and I got lost while doing, having trouble finding what connects to what.

At the time, we were upgrading the motherboard, processor, RAM.

When I called the company, they said that this has happened before. We bought that computer used and it was part of a faulty unit. I know nothing about explosives. I live in Michigan where fireworks that explode are illegal. I should have written down exactly what the company said was wrong with it.

I worked for a company that had 12 Emachen computers same as that. I only ever worked on 4 that did just that, they were compleetly broken even the CD/DVD and Hard drives got blasted. we thot it was the office that they were in untill the 4th one exploded in a difrent office, then a fuew weaks later we were told to go and order new computers as we would be boxing up and returning the old computers back to emachens as they had called them back. Looks like it really scared you.
