Love this song. Love this arrangement and version the best of any of them, even ahead of Chevalier in the move. It's a close second with all the effects and wondrous editing. :)
@saxondog2001 A G R E E ROGHARM love the 30's arrangement and voice is great!!!!!!!******played in the operatic minor key. love thank you for posting. the song style is r o m a n t i c!!!!!!LOVEIT thanks.
The quirky sound of Nat Finston and the Paramount Studio Orchestra comes through, even on this vocal record. Note the moaning, sliding trombone and saxes, and the hint of coconuts.
@bobparis COULD DIAGREE MORE. I LOVE JENETTE AND FINSTON GREAT TEMPO. THIS IS ART DECO MUSIC 1928-30'S. ROGHARM GREAT TEMPO GREAT VOICE YOU DO NOT APPRECIATE QUALITY. ROGHARM
@bobparis You betcha! This song is first introduced in the film to a lot of synced sounds and scenes. Very clever and very hard to do in those early days of talking pictures. Also requires a lot of patience and mix to pix even today with computers!
I've always loved Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy! To think I've tried to hear them on the internet, but found them finally here! Hooray! Lizzy _Tish
Surely, the most lovely and talented of all the singing actresses to ever grace the silver screen. With no disrespect to the ladies who succeeded her, we shall not see her like again.
No argument whatsoever and her films with Nelson Eddy were released before both of us were born. Just compare her perfect diction to the mumbling and screaming pop singers of today.
I've never seen heard her sing this song. I've been told I look like her, but can't sing like her. :)

Jeanette re-recorded this number again 25 years later,on September 30,1957 for RCA Victor,but it was never released.
