Guys.. They are at an Expo. So, yes, they show products. Maybe the Ford AD is a little bit much? Could be. But, they are there to show new products and give information about it. So, i don't have a problem with that.
@itTutorials4You I used a Rabbit 4000 microcontroller which has a RJ-45 port on it, with some custom built light switches that activate from a 5V output of the controller. All the switches use a CAT-3 input which is what I use to hook them up to the controller from anywhere's in the house. The coffee machine was a project for class so it's slightly more involved (bunch of sensors and stuff). Then it's just a matter of writing apps (Linux and Android) to interface it all.
Too expensive for only an AC on/off switch. If the device could also control an enabled device through the AC wires via a digital signal, that would be cool.
Nice one! I wonder if you can setup the motion sensor to alert you if it triggers when you're away from home. That could give you a chance to take some kind of action, call the cops or something.
There's one major drawback though. If i understand correctly it only works with O N E !!! phone brand.
