I am looking for anyone who remembers the name...Volmer Jensen. he designed a rigid wing hang glider. Can anyone help me find or get plans. Saw in Soaring Magazine in the 1960's. I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy, I think.
armandin2048, is right. Angle of attack too high, failure to pull in and fly to correct a big fat stall, broke weak link and wheeled in not flying but continuing stall.
armandin2048: (Look here) you fucking Porch monkey , You stupid fuck, if you don't know what a lockout is, you shouldn't be flying, you dumbass!
When you have have a lockout think of be bitch! Take some fucking lessons hoe. Learn the difference between a stall, and a lockout hoe. And don't be sending your crap to my mail MF! If you need some lessons, I'm a teacher, hope to see you around to give you some flying lessons, bitch ass hoe. Wanna Be MF. Fuck U
To gilliguts : Training you are right, a new pilot training, and that is a lockout caused by him dropping his wing not keeping HG in line with the payout. Hesitation is a killer. If you plan to fly then fly don't hesitate at the last minute you will get hurt badly this guy was lucky to recover that lockout so low to the ground, Fly the glider fly the glider fly the glider,,,,,,,,
To jmqff: Dollies are used for Arrow tow using a dragonfly airplane or a trike. When we use a payout winch, we use a Cradle to rest the glider on that sits on the back of a truck, or utility trailer. So by this I can see that he is a new pilot if not he would be sitting on the cradle with the pros
Pilot hesitated and droped the left wing, not the way to go. the pitch was fine for a payout winch. The Angle of Attack Should be a bit higher than normal when using the payout winch. This is how we fly here in Texas with a high angle of attack. If he didn't have the high angle of attack he would have to run faster and further than nomal. With a higher pitch the pilot would just do some moon walks and up he goes, once up pilot would just correct and stay in line with payout to avoid a lockout
XLENTERTAINMANT You are an idiot - please keep you dangerously stupid opinions to yourself in case somebody reads them and thinks you actually know what you are talking about.
Cause of accident - too high an angle of attack, weak link failure, basically a total failure to achieve sufficient airspeed at any point of the flight.
wings level wind in yer face angle of attack, run like fuck till your airbourne. (not lean back and resist the pull) wings level, wings level, let it climb nose at the winch. if lockout occurs get on it man weight shift get it level aviate then navigate, fly the glider dont be a passenger.
He let the nose get up too high (0:12) and was leaning backwards instead of running with the glider, then he dropped the left wing (0:14), veered off to the left due to the dropped left wing and released the tow line (0:17) which showed his quick reactions - or the link broke. Hope he didn't hurt himself - sorry, don't understand the russian comments
At the beginning I though Hugo was the dog of the pilot in danger and was runing away while pilot still alive so someone tries to calm the dog down calling Hugo! Hugo! (come back or what). No sorry just kidding. Thank god he landed without any further damage. It could happen to everyone trying to take off with this much angle. Take it easy people thats what mistakes are for, so that we become better and better.
what a disaster is this a flight school? jeese. too many mistakes.
timmay301 3 months ago
WOW.
Looks to me like the pilot wanted to stop before he started. Ground crew should have aborted tow way earlier, and the accelaration was way too fast.

That chap shouldn't have been holding his keel. Not completely the pilot's fault.

...looks like the left wing tip caught the
low shrubs, contributing to the sudden
left turn.

Lawrence7of9 2 years ago
There wasn`t weak link. We use tooth-lock.
fantomasilia 2 years ago
Weak link or tooth-lock or whatever, the error was not flying the wing because of too high angle of attack leading to all else.

...at some sites, gliders/pilots ride
on dollies which are pulled to flying
speed, then the pilots releases the
dolly and lifts off. The dolly has
struts to keep glider at proper angle
of attack until airborne.

NO,no,no, the angle of attack was too high ,not enough air speed and lucky not to be dead.

Да, пилот получил только душевные травмы. У аппарата, вроде, сломана только 1 стойка
