  • It was originally released on Jin 116 in 1959. It started to make noise and Mercury picked it right up Mercury71465. They thought they might have another Rod Bernard. Rod went to #20 Billboard and Gene did not hit top 40 Nationally. I know Gene was a big hiit here in Boston.

  • KROF DJ "Boo Boo" plays this every week on his Saturday afternoon swamp pop show.

  • @RockinEd Dat's a bit too far for me to hear it. Can you turn the Volume up and I'll stick my head out the window???? I went to their website and they appear to be very cool except for one thing, I never could find a link for "streaming". Do they stream and did I overlook it??? Also, 960 AM??? I thought all they did on AM was preach and talk about b.s.

  • @9thWardJukebox yeah it says Listen Live but only on Saturdays do they play good swamp pop [BTW I live in Cleveland and I can find it ok LOL] the rest of the week they play that goshawful 70s oldie crap [Billy Joel. Elton, Doobies etc..]

  • Good one, 9th! Thanks! Cute tune!

  • @Buddy50s I'm a big Jivin' Gene fan. It is so refreshing finding and playing his other works other than "Breaking Up is Hard to Do". Glad you share my eloquent taste.

  • @9thWardJukebox 9th, Do you happen to have a year on this one? And was it a Mercury single?

  • @Buddy50s It wasn't on Mercury; Chess Records 1963. It was on a 45.
